went into surgery with a brand new pair on and came out stark naked. LOL But they did allow me to leave them on as they were putting me to sleep but as soon as I was in dreamland, they cut those babies offI wonder what the big deal is, they don't go that low with the surgery anyway!

gadget lady, I imagine if you are anything like me, you are thinking "darn it all, one more thing to worry about". Like the whole process is not scary/embarrassing enough. All I can tell you is that, I imagined the whole thing to be a lot worse than it was. I worried about what will I look like on the operating table etc. It was all over really quick, I woke up in recovery and WOW it was over. Yes, your period will add one more hassle, but the nurses will know just what to do and they are so nice. Good luck to you, and Happy New You and New Year!

Hi Pepsi, sounds like you need another way to handle your stress. Exercise, stretching, meditation, praying are just a few ideas. Or maybe a small amount of something to eat would help? I'm an emotional eater as well, sometimes now, I have a cup of tea and another thing that has helped me is Knitting, it keeps my mind and hands busy. Good luck, I hope you start feeling better.

I too am newly banded and don't feel the restriction much. I go to Dr. mid Dec. and then will get an appointment for my first fill, probably not until new year. It's a little frustrating, I was expecting better results.

HI Spydr, what was the day of your surgery? Mine was Monday 11/14. I am feeling pretty good today (Thursday). Still pretty tender, but much better than Tuesday. Getting the 64 ounces of liquid down per day is not easy. I did take my dogs out for a few minutes this morning so that was good. It's freezing here in MI. Lori

Ok guys, relax. I just had mine done on Monday AM. And like they said it's not that bad. You are out and don't feel a thing. They have great pain relief drugs in the hospital and the nurses are really nice. I felt pretty bad when I got home tuesday afternoon, but soo much better this morning already. I was lucky I had a weekend with my girl friends right before and it kept my mind off of the surgery. The anticipation is much worse than the actual reality of it. Good luck to you both, honestly it's not that bad and I am a wimp. Lori -
Hi everyone, this board has been great for me. It's really helped me to make my decision to have the lap-band. I am scheduled for November 14, one week from today. I am lucky, no liquid diet for me, just a no carb diet for this week. I am getting excited and nervous, I just got off the phone with the hospital (Troy Beaumont, MI), that really made it seem real. Wendiss, you must live fairly close to me, I am in West Bloomfield and my surgeon is Dr. Deol. Thanks to everyone who's posts I have been reading, they are all helpful. I will try to post after my surgery and let everyone know how it went. So far they have told me, no eating after midnight the night before, no jewely, contacts, no make up,no lotions on your body etc. for going to the hospital that AM. She said I should take a robe and slippers, personal hygiene stuff. Any advice/tips from anyone on this? I think I'll take a book and my cell phone. My ticker should be moving down soon, yahoooo!

Hi Michiganders, I got a date today, 11/14 (it's only 10 day's away) to get my band. I am really excited. I wasn't sure where to post this news, so I picked the MI thread.

It's great to hear about everyone's success. I am still working on my pre-op stuff. Where do I find the before and after photo's?

Hi Becky, you've really had a great weight loss, way above average. What's your secret?
-
I too am seeing Dr. Deol, everything good so far, I haven't had my surgery yet though.

Wow, what a great post! Non Scale Victory's, what a great idea. I'm a newbie, not banded yet, but soon I hope. I have (like all of us) lost large amounts of weight before, and I know how great that feels, to fit into old or new smaller clothes. Anyway, loved your post, you are quite an inspiration for everyone on the boards.

How do you deal with nosey people....

Hi, this is my first post. I haven't had my surgery yet, I hope to in the next month or so. As for the rude questions, I would just try and ignore that it was asked. I can't believe people ask you that randomly, I've never had anyone ask me, and I've been overweight for a long time. Those of you that have the band, does everyone in your lives know about it? I was just planning on telling family and a few close friends, or is it obvious to co-workers etc. that you've done something? Lori 90 lbs to lose, none lost so far!
