Can you name 1, or 2 things you would love to do once you reach your goal?

Love this thread! I can't wait to wear shirts tucked into my jeans and run a 10K race. I don't want to be invisible anymore. I have spent so much of my life trying not to be the center of attention because any attention you get when you're fat is humiliating. I'm ready to embrace life and be so active that my 10 year old son has to struggle to keep up with his 40 year old mom. -
Well, I have an idea for our group name. April's birthstone is diamond so I was thinking about "Diamonds in the Rough"? Just a thought.

I'm scheduled for April 4th with Dr. Brengman in Richmond, VA. Starting to get a little nervous about it. I, too, had a problem with getting denied by the insurance company. That was two years ago when I had different insurance. This time, I was mentally prepared to be denied, so I worried and fretted and all I cared about was getting the approval. Now that I have approval...and a date...I'm starting to get a little freaked out. I stood in my kitchen the other day and just stared at a 1/2 cup measuring cup for about 20 minutes. I can't imagine never eating more than that for the rest of my life. I know that this surgery is a good decision and I know that I won't ever permanently lose weight without it. Just wondering if anyone else has had these kind of feelings? Thanks. Kim

Hi I'm also in Richmond. I'm being banded April 4 at St. Mary's by Dr. Brengman. I feel the same...anxious, scared, thrilled. I just have to believe that this is the right thing to do. I have been overweight for the last 30 years of my life and I'm ready to do what it takes to be healthy once and for all. Keep talking to people at this site. I've found so much inspiration and support here. I'd be happy to write or talk about my experience with you since I will be going through it a couple of weeks before you. Maybe that will help you be a little less anxious. Be strong! Kim -
Is there any advantage to doing preop diet longer than 2 weeks?
magic1127 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery date is scheduled for April 4th. I was just wondering if there is any advantage to starting the preop diet now. My surgeon requires it for 2 weeks before surgery since it shrinks the liver. I know that the more weight I lose before surgery decreases my risks of obesity related surgical complications. Anyone have any thoughts on the subject? Has anyone done the preop diet for longer than two weeks? Thanks, Kim -

Thanks Sue. I'll just eat healthy and exercise until it's time to do the liquid diet. Way to go... 107 pounds lost! How long did it take you to lose that much? I just can't wait to see those kind of numbers for me. This website is so inspiring. Kim -
Just got my surgery date. It's 2 days before my 40th birthday! My doctor is Matthew Brengman at St. Mary's hospital in Richmond, VA. I'd love to know if anyone else in the Richmond area is going to be banded around the same time as me. Wish me luck! Kim

Hi, I'm Kim and I'm in Richmond, VA. I just found out that the insurance company has approved my lap band surgery. Now I'm just waiting to schedule it. My surgeon is Dr. Brengman at St. Mary's hospital and it will probably be the second week of April. I'm finally going to be a bandster! This website is fantastic. I've learned so much from hanging around here the last few weeks. Y'all are great.
