I haven't been online for a while, but getting discourged due to I have only lost 40 pounds and it's been almost 18 months. I have been at the same weight since last Sept. I have tried jogging, going to the gym and now I got a bike. I walk every morning and I can only eat about 700 cal on a good day. I think my band is at 7.5cc in a 10cc band. I have finally learned I think how not to slime. I am off all meds and that is what counts, but I would like to lost another 30 pounds.

Great2bethin, Sorry it took me so long to reply, I have had out of town guess in all last week. My normal day: I go for a 2 mile walk in the morning, brisk. I normally have a protien bar with 19 g of Protein for Breakfast. yogart with granola for lunch due to I have been having slim issues since my last fill. I use to eat salad with turkey. snack chocolate covered soy nuts 100 cal. 3 g of protient dinner normally is protient (steak, or fish soemtimes chicken) and veg I walk all day at work. I go for another walk at night, I just got a bike so I am working on bike riding at night. I haven't been on a bike for 30 years. I don't think I'm getting enough protient any more since my last fill but I can't eat anymore. I am 5 foot and I feel comfortable at 162, but I would like to be about 130lb. I have just got so discourage I'm not sure what else to do. Any sugguestions would be great. Thanks DRH

I thought I was the only one with these problems. I have lost 40 lbs in 18 months. I have not lost anything for 9 of those momths. I eat about 650 tp 700 calories a day because I can't eat or get sick. I have been unfilled twice and possibly going on my third time. I exercise everyday, walk a few miles in the morning and I walk a good part of my day at work. I just want to through my hands up because nothing I'm going is working. Maybe this is the weight my body wants to be at. I feel like I need to eat more due to i have been feeling weak lately. Any advice? Thanks

Luluc, I have been reading some of your posting and you were the same size as me starting out. I am 5 foot and was 200 lb, now 161. I had a coughing problem and they took fluid out and I'm starting over. I had a fill a couple of weeks ago and now I can barely eat maybe 650 cals if I'm lucky. Did you have any problems with your fills or getting the right amount in it? I fill like I'm going back and forth with fills and unfills. I have a 10cc band with 7 cc in it for the moment. I have plateau for the last 9 months. You are at my goal weight of 130 lbs and I just don't know what to do. Any advis? Thanks Darla

After reading the postings I real pretty lucky. My doctor always numb the area and tells me to do a little situp and it pops right in. I have never watch my fill due to I hate needles. I am about 18 months out and have had too many fills I think and I'm going on my 3 unfill. We just can't get it right. Even I can eat lot or just yogurt which I hate. I have been on a platue since last Sept. But I can say it doesn't hurt for me. Good Luck.

Sorry, I haven't been on in awhile. COngrats to all the anniveraries. Mine was April 2nd. I had another fill and up to 7.5cc in a 10cc band. I think it's a little tight but the scale finally moved from 163 in 4 months. My doctor told me that I needed to eat atleast 70 grams of protein a day and 1200 calories. I have no idea how I can do this, especially if I can't eat more than 1/2 cup at a time. I try to eat every few hours but I fill like that is not enough. And for all you size 12, ,me too and I'm 5ft and 161lb. It is so weird how different we all are in losing weight and reacting to the fills. I go on vacation in one month it would be nice if I could dropped a few more pounds, but after the last few months I'm just taking one day at a time.

Special K Congrats on 95 lbs almost 100. I haven't seen you in a while I'm sure you look great. I am going to make the committed to start going to the support meetings and nutrition meeting every month. I am still on my platuae and it will not move. I started to walk again in the mornings now that the weather has finally broken and started going to the gym. Do you know anyone that is going to be in the Fashion Show? I hope all is well. Darla -
Carol, It's funny about you talking about almost passing out, I thought I was the only one that almost did that. What a wierd feeling. And yes I have been to Polaris a few times and on the Columbus thread. I don't get online enough and I need to change that so I stay motivated and learn how to do things on the web site. Sorry I could not figure out how to PM you. I thought I knew how but I guess not. I weigh mysel today an I'm up a pound. I have been trying to eat more since I have been exercising more but someting is not working. I just would like to be down some before going back to see Dr. Choban on 4/2. Sorry to hear about your slipage, I think that would be hard. However, it appears that you are doing very well, congrats. Darla

A Few Tips From A Slow Loser - Now Past Goal -
drh0729 replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Boiteacher, You sound like me I have lost about 40 lbs and in Novemeber it stopped. I have tried more Protein, more Water and now more exercise and one week I will be down and the next I will be up. I feel good and I guess that is what matters. I will keep exercising and it will come off sooner or later. Darla -
Cubgirl, I will try protein drinks. I haven't found any I like yet but I will keep trying. With everything else I have found that I am lactose intolerance now since my surgery. I could not figure out why I was had so much gas and stomach cramping, I never relized how much stuff has dairy in it. I weigh myself every Monday so we will see if the scales move with more calories. I go back to the doctor on my anniverary date of April 2nd. I know the doctor was expecting me to lose atleast 52 lbs for 1 lb a week but maybe slower is better. I would like to say thank you to everyone on this thread. Everyone has been so nice and understanding. I stopped coming online because I didn't think it was helping me, but I guess I was just on the wrong thread. Thanks and good luck to everyone.

Cub Girl, Thank you so much for all your help. I have started to count calories last week and I feel I can only eat between 800 to 900 calories at the most. I feel like this is not enough. From the time I ha my surgery I walked about 2 miles a day and tried to start jogging up until last November, so I can see why things could have stopped. And you are right about drink water I don't enough. Days i go to the gym I drink enough because I drink abut 32oz there. I actually love going to the gym. I have doing at least 3- 1 hour classes a week and working out with weights twice a week. I started walking this morning again and that's another 1.5 miles a day. I am healthier and that is the main reason I had the surgery. i'm off of all my meds and all my counts are down so that is something to be happy about. However, I would like that scale to move. I will keep on and the fomula you gave me. I don't know what state you live in, but if you are serious about the jeans, I would love them. I'm sure I'm like everyone else I have been buying only a few items so I'm not wasting money. Here is my email address and I will give you my address. drh0729@hotmail.com Thanks Darla

Kathy, Congrats for making a year. Sorry I haven't been online for a while. My year will be April 2nd. I see that you have lost 93lbs, that is great. I have been stalled at around 40 lbs since November I don't know what to do. I started at the gym 4 weeks ago and have been going 4 or 5 times a week and just started back to walking at 5am since the weather has broken finally. I feel like I'm not eating enough but I can't eat anymore. I am going to start going to the nutrition meetings and see if they help me any. Sorry about rambling. Again, great job. Darla -
Cub Girl, How did you lose all your wieght in the year? I am 5 foot and was 200 lbs. I was banded on 4/2/08 and have only lost 40 lbs. I have been going back and forth between 162 and 164 the last 3 months and can't mve the scales. I think I'm at my sweet spot due to I can't even eat a cup of food at a time. Before this crazy winter I walked everyday, but stopped due to the weather. However, I have started at a gym and I am going between 4 and 5 days a week but the scale is not moving. Normally, I eat about 60 grams protein everyday. I need to count calories I think. My last fill I was at 7cc in a 10cc band.

I responded to this yesterday !!!! I don't know what happened to my post:cursing: 1st of all you have lost 36 lbs since surgery and that's great !!! Ok now on to the work - are you tracking your calories - keeping a food diary - losing weight is all about calories in vs calories out - I am a big proponent of keeping a food diary/logging your calories (dailyplate.com or fitday.com) it's a great learning tool - I kept a food diary for the 1st year. Those Protein bars are like 200 calories for most of them - why aren't you eating real food instead.. lunch salad - how much dressing - you are just eating protein for dinner - no veggies no starches. You could not be eating enough calories too - I know that sounds strange but eating healthy doesn't mean starving yourself.. Also how much are you eating per meal - just cuz you slime doesn't necessarily mean that you have enough restriction it could mean that you ate too fast, took too big of a bite and didn't chew well enough. For me EXERCISE went hand in hand with my eating healthy - for first yr I went 4-5 times a week.. Your Wii just might not be strenuous enough - do it twice aday till you can walk outside again (1 hr total) - do you have a mall close to your house go walk there. While watching tv - during commercial stand up and walk in place.. The more you move the more calories you are going to burn.. During my weight loss phase I ate between 800-1200 calories a day - low fat - SF - I ate 3 meals plus 2 or 3 Snacks depending on the calories of the snacks.. You can do this - you really can - you just need to get your butt in gear - you know what you are doing wrong - you know what your little secrets are - so quit making excuses to yourself and get back on the band wagon - You deserve to be healthy - you deserve to be fit - Love yourself enough to make time for what you want and need to do to get healthy.. Janet, Thank you so much for your words. I have not been counting my calories and that is probably a problem. Last time I was counting them I wasn't eating enough and I started to eat more. I probably have fallen back into the trap again. Yes, it's very weird not eating enough. Also, I know I need to start exercising more. Me and another person are going to start going to the gym Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday's starting tomorrow. I go on vacation in May and I would love to lose 15 more pounds. I do have a questions about the Protein Bars, the doctor seems like I should have some kind of supplement to get all my protein. Since I'm a pretty picky eater the protein bars worked for me. When I have lost weight before I was a sorry loser but I was hoping I would lose a little bit faster. I feel great and off meds I should happy with that. I saw where you were going to vegas I hope you won. I haven't been there is year but I liked it. Thanks again, Darla

Janet, I have been reading the posting and you are so helpful to people. I haven't been online for a while and I think I need help. I have friends that have had surgery and have lost weight really quickly while I have been stuggling just to get pass 164. I have been going back and fourth between 162 and 164 for about 3 months now. I am 5 ft tall and at my top weight I was 215lb size 18. I am a size 12 now and I am happy however, I would like to get off of 164. I know some of my problem is that I stopped walking in the morning since it has been extermly cold this winter. I did buy a WWII fit for christmas and have been using it almost everynight. I eat protein bars for breakfast and mainly salad w/chicken at lunch. Dinners it depends but mainly chicken, steak or some form of protein. Sometimes I feel like I slime a lot and I hate it and don't know how to stop it. Can you give me any advise or help? Sorry about going on and on.

New to Site, I'm a slow loser and refuse to give up!
drh0729 replied to pddjmpr56's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I was reading your story and even though we are different, we are a lot alike. I am a very slow loser. Some people thought I shouldn't have surgery due to I wasn't 150 lbs overweight. I topped out at 215lb and I'm 5 foot with a list of problems, blood pressure, bad back, bad knees you name it. My knees will never get better due to a car accident in 2001. I can exercise however, it doesn't seems to be helping. I have stayed between 164 nd 162 which I am happy with. I haven't lost the weight the doctors thought I would by now but I'm trying. The doctors wanted me to get down to 105/110 that is not going to happen. I will be happy with 130lb which is only about 30lbs away. I feel great most of the time and I try to make the right choices. However, it's so hard at time. I just would to wish you luck and don't give up and I won't either. Darla -

Hey Special K, I thought I would say hi. It's been so long since I have been on the site. 83 lbs is great, I think you were close to 70 the last time I saw you. I keep going back and fourth between 37 and 40 lbs. Dr. Miller said it's good that I'm losing slow since I had less than a 100 lbs. However, sometimes I wish it would go faster. And just like other people I fill I fell off of the band wagon during the holidays and stopped walking in the morings due to the cold. I did buy a WW fit and have been doing that, I'm not sure if I like a game talking back to you. I hope everything is going good for you and hope to see you at a meeting next month. -

SaliorChristy, I agree that maybe you should see someone about the possilbe depression. I think this whole process is hard and is hard afterwards. I am married however, thought the whole process myhusband did not want to have the lapband and was scared something would happen to me. Due to him not wanting to have the surgery that gave me a lot of pain. Things are going good now, but I'm still focus on doing this for me and my health and someone else. Try to put yourself first and your health. Take one step at a time and slow down if you need to. Some of these test like the sleep study is hard on people. I have had my cpap for years and have used it on and off being it's such a pain. Since I have lost weight I don't use it like I should and I can feel it. Anyway, don't be hard on yourself, and do this for yourself and no one else. Good Luck. -

Hey Nikki, My appointment was at 1:30pm, but I was there for almost an hour. She put the .5cc back in from last month and we are going to see how I do. I agree with you about seeing Dr. Choban since you have been couging up a storm, after feeling so sick in august I don't think anyone should wait. I think within these last 6 weeks I have figured out how hard this can be. If I eat too fast I get sick or eat the wrong food like rice, roast beef. If people think this is the easy way out they are wrong. Since you work at Mount Carmel also, have you joined the gym at the CSC building? I have my start up session with the trainer tonight. I hope this will help kick start my weight loss. I lost 3 pounds in the last 6 weeks which is better than nothing. When is your next appointment. I am going to see Dr. Miller since Choban didn't have an opening until 1/29/09 but I was able to get in with Miller 12/29/08 which still is 9 weeks. WOW. Let me know what the doctor says today. I hope you get to feeling better. Darla -

Kathy, Great weight loss. You really looked good when I seen you at the support morning at Mount Carmel. I go for my fill tomorrow. I'm not sure what to expect since I haven't really lost any weight since my .5cc unfill. I'm kinda of scared to go back up since I got so sick after my last fill, but sometimes I feel like I could eat a horse. Maybe a leg. I'm stuck at 32/34 pounds depending on the day. Sorry, I haven't written lately. -
Heather, Sorry to here about your daughter. I sure she will be okay. It's nice that she checks in while she is driving. I still worry about my kids and they are in there 20's. Thinking about you. Darla

A Few Tips From A Slow Loser - Now Past Goal -
drh0729 replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat protein with every meal, but may I need just a little more to kick in into place. Noramlly, I have a protein bar with 20 grams of protein in the morning or eggs. Lunch I normally have a salad with chicken or salmon in it and dinner is about the same chicken or fish with veg or salad... I have gone weeks without losing anything. -
Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
drh0729 replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is a very interesting thread. I am 5" and was 200lbs at the time of my band. I also had a list of medical problems which within a little over a month they were gone and getting better. I have only lost 27 pounds so far but my back doesn't hurt and I have very much more energy. I probably would not of thought about being banded until I was sent to the ER for high blood pressure. That was a big wake up for me.. I was lucky that insurance paid for me after I did about 9 months of hoops.. A lot of people couldn't believe I was having surgery because they didn't know I weighed that much and didn't know I was doing it for my health, the weigh loss is an added bonus. -
I'm new on this thread and wondering if anyone could help me find the link to download the workout from the couch 2 5k. I have looked everywhere on that site and can not find it. I thought it would be easier if i could download the music/training to my IPOD. My doctor says I need to start doing more than just walk every day. I don't know about jogging or running, but i wll give it a try. You guys make it sound easy.

Heather, I am glad you are alright and feeling better today. Reading your posting kinda scared me because sometime I don't think we know all of what could happen. I'm on my 3rd fill in a few weeks and I'm just hoping it will jump start me. I lost five pounds right after my 2nd fill and now nothing in 2 weeks. Sometime I wonder what am I doing wrong or is something wrong. I am just so glad that everything seems to be okay and you are taking one day at a time. Hope to see you on Saturday. Finally, I'm not doing anything, and I don't have my grandkids. Darla
