    Inferior vena cava filter

I was banded on 04/30/08, but had a vena cava filter put in the day before because of my history of blood clots and Protein C deficiency. I was in the hospital for 2 days total. My surgeon will make the decision of when to take the filter out on my check-up 0n 05/30. It's not a bad procedure. He made a couple of small incisions in my neck I felt safer the next day going into surgery with that in place. I also had to do 5 days of the Lovenox injection before the two surgeries. Have you had any clots or heart problems that your doctor maybe concerned about?

    Second thoughts...

Don't give up!! I might be able to help you! My doctors nurse give me a few helpful hints to help me through that period. Hopefully you got more vanilla than chocolate drinks, if not see if you can exchange them. Then you can get some fat-free, sugar-free puddings & jellos (I liked the banana pudding and the strawberry banana jello) and fresh fruit like strawberries, bananas, peaches ect. and blend a small amount of each (4to 5 small pieces of fruit) to the shake with water and a glass of crush ice. You feel like you you're having a smoothie!!! You can even add the fat free-sugar free chocolate syrup to the vanilla. I was allow to have broths which I added Mrs. dash. Believe me this works. I am now 2 weeks post banding and so glad that I didn't give up. I've lost 25 lbs. since my surgery of course they finally got my thyroid back in order also! If I can help you at all just give me a yell!

    Just banded

I understand how you feel, I was banded 2 weeks ago and have felt better each day. My blood pressure has remained low since my surgery "YEA" and my energy level is getting better with every walk I take !!

    New Jersey - Step One

Hi supersize2bbw, I'm 2 weeks post banding and had some of the same feelings you had, I went to seminars, support group meetings, & diet conferences 1 year before I made my decision (which my surgeon required before he would ever see me). I have lost 20 lbs. since my surgery.:w00t: You"ll be fine!!! Find a good support group and go, the members will help you and amaze you!!! Once you make your decision and just do it you'll be so happy you did!!!!!!!!

    banded 4-29

I was banded on the 30th, but had a filter put in on the 29th so I stayed in the hospital for 2 nights. My doctor did't sent me home with very much pain meds. and when I called for a refill I was told he didn't refill any. Has anyone else had this happen?
  6. It's a shot of Lovenox to prevent bloodclots. I had to take them five days before my surgery and I am having to take them for the next five days a home. I'm five days post-op and they are nothing!!!! You really don't feel them much at all!

any bandsters in Little Rock, AR?

April, You are the first person I've seen that has mention Dr. Baker and Dr. Grimes. I've started checking on the Lapband and my daughter's friends who are nurses in Little Rock speak very highly of both . I'm seriously thinking of checking into Dr. Baker.
