  1. Happy 39th Birthday ixrayinaz!

  2. Help! I have been banded since April 2008 and have lost 72 lbs. :w00t: I had my last fill of only 1/2 cc in December. I have a 14 cc band and a total of 11 cc in. Since then, I've had terrible heartburn! I was taking Zantac and Prilosec everyday, which was helping. When I didn't take it, the heartburn came back. I went in today for a follow up and told him what was going on. The hearburn is worse at night after dinner. I haven't thrown up, and no pain. He thinks I'm either to tight or have a slippage. How do you know you have a slippage? Vomiting? Pain? He unfilled me and I have to see him next week. I just don't know what to do, I've finally found something that is working for me and I've screwed this up!

  4. Hello all. Well, I've been banded since April 22, and lost 55 lbs! I have a 14cc band and have had 2 fills. The first fill he gave me 7cc and I couldn't swallow so he removed 1cc, second fill 3cc, but again couldn't swallow, so 1cc out. I feel I can eat more than a cup of food at a time. I have no pain, no throwing up. Am I eating to much??? How do you know when you've over done it?? I feel I'm not limited enough. Maybe I haven't reached my "sweet spot". Can some of us eat more than others?? :confused2:

    Hair Loss

I"m sooo glad I'm not the only one having this problem. I"m also 4 months out of surgery and it's coming out in hand fulls!! I started taking Biotin and using Nioxin shampoo. I talked to my doctor and he said it's not because of the actual surgery. I've read it's because of the drastic weight loss, I've lostt 51 lbs since April. It's very very frustrating! I don't want to be bald!!! My doctor told me to get a balance diet, not only protein but fruits and veggies also. I hope this will stop soon.

    Hair loss???????

I was banded on April 22, and have lost 45 lbs so far:biggrin2:!!! I've noticed the past couple of weeks, my hair is falling out in hand-fulls. I really notice it when I wash my hair. I've started taking Biotin, and using Nioxin shampoo, I hope this helps. I don't want to be skinny and bald!!!! I feel I"m eating enough protein. I've been eating beef jerky and nuts for snacks. What else can I do???:confused2: I've heard the stess of having surgery and going under anestheia can make this happen too.

    Band Buddy wanted

Welcome! I also have PCOS. I was banded on April 22, and it's the best thing I've done! I've been thinking about it for almost 2 years, and finally made up my mind to do it. Thank God my insurance paid for it, I guess I had enough co-morbities. I've lost 26 lbs in about 5 weeks. The first week is hard, just keep positive and you'll do great. This site it great for any questions you have, it's helped me!!!

    It's Official!!

The first couple of days are hell!!! I didn't expect to be in so much pain. I kept asking myself what did I do?????? but it get's better each day. I'm in Tucson and went with Dr. Schwartz. I lost 10 lbs on my 2 week pre-op diet, it really gets you ready for what's ahead. Just remember try to drink and walk, it helps with the pain. When are you getting banded????

    It's Official!!

Congrats!!! I also have BCBS of AZ and they approved me in 4 days! I was shocked also. I got banded on April 22. I've lost 21 lbs in about 3 weeks!! Wooo HOOOOO!! Good luck
  10. I am 5 days post-op and I"m starving too!!! I"m on liquids for the first week, then mushies for 2 weeks. I don't know how much more broth, jello, or protein drinks I can do!!!!! My doctor told me the band is not turned "on" until the fills start. So I"m trying to keep positive and drink my hunger away!!! Did anybody else feel this way?????
  11. Katie...I'm 2 days post-op also, and I keep asking myself "what did I do"!!! I've heard we're normal! The gas pains are pretty bad, but don't forget to walk. My incision sites are very sore. I hope you feel better soon. Keep drinking fluids don't get dehydrated. I hope we both feel normal soon!!!!!

    8 days until surgery!

I am scheduled for next Tuesday. I went for my pre-op testing today. I have been on my pre-op diet since last Tuesday. OH my....why am I doing all this????!!!:huh2: I keep asking myself that question. I have wanted to cancel the surgery 20 times today! I know it's all meant to be, and I will be ok. It's just crazy all the thoughts that go thru your head! I think the hardest thing is trying to come off diet Pepsi and coffee. But this is the new me, and the next chapter of my life:biggrin2:
  13. I have been thinking about getting the lap-band for over a year now. I finally got the courage and went to the consult last week. I have a BMI of 49, I hadn't been on a scale in months:eek:!!! Now it's just the waiting game, getting all the records from previous doctors. I just hope and pray to GOD that my insurance approves it. Has anybody out there been denied? Why did they deny it? I have BCBS.
