  2. Thanks a bunch - The carb ratio is off for my docs requirements but I think I will get some and add unflavored whey protien to up the Protein. Thanks for the tip - new flavor ideas always help!

    I need help

    It's difficult to describe but the key is to eat until satisfied not full.... and (here's the kicker) concentrating/eating slowly enough that you actually realize what satisfied is. If you are full enough to "not want another bite" you have over eaten. I'm a visual person so here's what I did until I learned and got good restriction. I would cut each serving into 1/4s. I would eat one 1/4, relax, enjoy the conversation, start another.. you get the picture. After doing this for several meals I learned that I was satisfied about 1/2 way through.... not full but satisfied. HTH

    Newbie, just dippin in a toe.

    Julie- I did the obligatory pre-op psych consult but in my heart I knew I had work to do. I love my support group but I don't think I could have shared with them pre-op the way I do now.     Help!! I need encouragement

    I see lots of patients come through who end up needing more than average pre-op testing and still end up being cleared for surgery. (We don't do bariatric cases mainly neuro & ortho but the testing is still for the same reasons, to make sure your body is capable of maintaining during anesthesia.) HTH

    Thanks so much for the reassurance - you are right pre-band I would've gained back 20 by now! LOL What are you eating in the mornings? That's the one I struggle with b/s I am tight but if I eat cottage cheese it slides right through so that I am hungry again in and hour or so. I usually eat fish for dinner with a veggie, but I could eat way more. Why in the world can't my band be tight at night while I'm on the the computer & watching TV? It would be better if it were wide open at work where the food sucks. LOL (I work in a hospital so trust me the food sucks)

    March 08 Bandsters.....

    Wow I wish my band wouldn't let me mess up. I have played with the same 6 pounds for almost a month. Gain it lose it gain it lose it... you get the picture! I'm really struggling so came to check in and get some renewed band energy! I can't eat hard protein before 3pm but after that all bets are off. This sucks b/c in my preband life I would snack all evening, ugh! Other than that everyhting is great! LOL

    A quality program is going to counsel you pre-op. The answers you give will help them design a program for you... a program that is going to make you and your band successful. Please don't hold back, otherwise you won't have the tools you need to address the issues and habits that got you here in the first place.

    Is this the one with Megan Garcia? If so I have it and love it too... I was shocked at how much I was sweating at the end, Great workout without the pain afterwards.

    Help!

    The PP is right - when you new pouch (the part above the band) is filled with Protein you will not feel physical hunger for hours at a time. If you fill that pouch with things other than protein you will feel just like you do pre-banding. The head hunger is a whole seperate issue.... try the book "Emotional First Aid Kit..."   18. Have you had any other surgery so I can make a comparison for you.... everyone is sooo different w/ pain tolerance.
  19. I thought of one more thing I would change... It won't let you choose your own nutrition plan. I would love to be able to enter my nutrition goals (% protein, % carbs, etc) to see how my intake compares. Oh and my coach sucked. I only used one of my coaching session b/c I wasn't impressed. But the product itself makes up for it.
  20. Yes... there is the ActivTrainer (or something lilke that) it will track activity but you have to track your own intake on dailyplate or something similar. You need the subscription to use it the way it is intended. Yes... but they go on sale all the time at 24hourfitness.com Nothing, well nothing doable. I would love not to have to log my food... like if it just "knew" what I ate. LOL It does stick out, and everyone will ask about it. People didn't notice so much in the winter obviously, but the girls in the office call it my 'growth'. No it won't work anywhere else. I tried but got WAY different read outs. Anything else just ask!

  22. I have had three fills, I have 7cc in a 10cc band. I have trouble with breads, some rice, and chx breast, basically all of the normal problem foods. I PB, slime, etc. I am not seeing consistent weight loss, but part of that may be weighing on two seperate scales (my dr is 3 hours away) and I don't think my home digital scale is all that accurate... seems accurate for my dh and kids but is 10-15 lighter than the scale in dialysis at work. Ugh. I am using my BodyBugg so I know what I am eating/burning on a daily basis. My nurse is coming into town next week to do fills, do I get a little fill or leave well enough alone?

    Thanks for the tip about the dough... I have only gained restriction with this last fill & I didn't have problems with those foods before. I have tried doing dark meat instead of white. I don't do well with ground beef so I will have to try the ground turkey again.

    Oh, we are encouraged to eat a balanced diet including whole grains, keeping carbs under 100g/day.
