There's a devil in my office
laura_rose16 replied to Mzdiggs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just remember how much your stomach will hurt! -
I love Dr. Macik. The best doctor! I am about 11 weeks out. Doing great! Best of luck.

What did I do to myself?

Heating pad on your stomach really helps. And it does get better[emoji2]. The best thing I ever did for myself. -
Heating pad after surgery?
laura_rose16 replied to funkhousered's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The heating pad made such a difference. Yes definitely! -
Intuitive eating by Ellen Tribole. This is what eating disorder specialist use.

My doctor is one of the first surgeons to do the sleeve. He told me a few days ago that the stretchy part of the stomach was taken out. And for all intensive purposes you can't stretch it out. You can go back to bad habits and slider foods and gain weight. But it doesn't stretch. So tell yourself that when you feel worried.

It's hard being on the liquid diet. But it gets so much better when you can go to the next stage. This too will pass.

C-section was way worst. Sleeve was nothing.

Anyone having issues with Taste Buds?
laura_rose16 replied to Renee1973's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just about to ask the same question. One month post op. I am on soft foods and nothing tastes the same. I have simply lost interest. Is this because of the lower levels of ghrelin? But at the same time I want food. I guess this is the head hunger people talk about. There definitely seems to be a disconnect. -
I started full liquid diet today and I can tell you I feel a hundred times better. Not very hungry. My doctor was pretty strict with clear liquids only for two weeks. I think when you move to full liquids it gets better quick. FYI he was very happy with how I was doing[emoji2]

I am very worried about having a leak. That being said I have been tempted several times to jump to the next stage early. . I think judging by the the number of posts. The restricted diet in the beginning is very hard. But everything I read following your surgeons orders is very important. I am working on being more mindful of my cravings.

I am still on clear liquids. And I haven't gone in 7days. Should I call the doctor? No pain. But just wondering?

Hungry already! Is this normal?
laura_rose16 replied to Angie1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 days post op. I feel exactly like you. Even healthy foods I drool over. I think it is because we are on strict liquids. I am taking omeprazole. daily so I don't think it is acid. My stomach actually has hunger pains. Maybe if your stomach heals quickly it is ready for stage 2 foods sooner. But I definitely don't want to risk it! It sucks! I dream of cream of wheat and yogurt. Only 6 days away. -
I am 7 days post op and I can't stop thinking about food. I am so hungry! Someone on the forum said that liquids pass through our new stomach very quickly. I am hoping it gets better when I get to a full liquid diet. I still have another week of clear liquids.

Sitting here in the hospital 24 hrs after surgery. Really questioning myself. The nurses are telling me I am doing great. But it hurts to drink. Hope to go home in a few hours. Is feeling down normal?

Vitamin Aversion!
laura_rose16 replied to JennsJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too had an aversion to vitamins. I am drinking vitamin water zero currently. I still need to take iron separately. The chewables were disgusting. I am only 5 days post op so hopefully will get better. -
Why did I do this?
laura_rose16 replied to laura_rose16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to say 48 hours makes a big difference. It quickly gets better. But the first 48 hours is hard. I am glad I had support from all of you. Heating pad was a god send. -
I am right there with you. Post op Day 4. And it is all overwhelming. Food is such an emotional thing. It's like they pulled us away from our mother on the first day of school. Some kicking and screaming. I am just feeling sad. Time does heal.

Lukewarm did make a difference. Too cold and my stomach spasms. Better this morning. Thanks for everyone's words of encouragement. -

I feel better since I am home. Still hurts to drink but much better. I can actually feel my poor stomach cringe every time I drink. -

Thanks I think all I needed to know was it gets better. The blues did surprise me though. -
My surgery will be March 11. I am worried about the level of pain. I have had a knee replacement. It wasn't too bad but needed pain meds. I was hoping for an idea. How bad is it after surgery?

The gas pain is the belly pain people talk about? I would think the small incisions wouldn't hurt too much. I have also had a c-section that really hurt but mainly from having to take care of a baby afterwards. [emoji1]
