Hey everyone!!!! I am so glad that I found this site. I have been doing sooooo much research into the lapband and gastric bypass and I was struggling cause I really, really liked the lapband. But everyone I talked to had the bypass done!! So finally I found Bandsters!!! YAYAYA Ok......... I am going through the process hoping to get banded in Morris MN by Dr Fortier. I have sent all my paperwork in and seen the dietician, but I have not seen the Dr for the one on one consultation. I am sooooo scared that he wont do the surgery, cause I am very excited about it. Can anyone fill me in on how long it will take for this process. Also how has insurance been? I have Blue Cross Blue Sheild of MN I get soooo excited and happy for you who have had the lapband already!!! Make everyday a good day!!!! Shellys

OK......I am just going thru this. Tuesday night I woke up with horrible pains in my stomach which wrapped around to my back. My back pains are in the middle of the back. I have since met with my regular doctor and I had a ultrasound this morning, and YES I have gall stones. Soooo I am scheduled for surgery on Friday. I don't know if this helps you at all, but it is always worth checking into.

I have been banded for about 3 months.....and last night at 12:00 am I woke up with a severe abdomen pains. I ate at about 6:30 pm and I had a Rachel melt...which is alot like a Rueben but with turkey, the bread was the 12 grain bread and I had toasted it, I had no problems eating it at the time, but could that be what gave me the pain? The ER doc thought that could be it or maybe my gullbladder. Has anyone had this? My pain seems to be in the middle and wraps around to the right into the middle of my back. The pain did subside about 1 hour into it, and today I feel like a bus hit me. Horrible backaches....if anyone could shed some light on this I would appriecate it. Thanks

Thanks everyone for replying so quickly. I am feeling better today(thank god), but I did make appointment to see my doctor that did my lap band on Tuesday. So for now, I am going to lay off on the fatty foods and see what happens. Plus that will help on WL. Thanks for all you help!!!!!!!!!

No!! The ER Doc didn't do much...they x-ray my chest and stomach, but no ultrasound....he seemed so positive that it was what I ate. I was really disappointed in the Doc, he pretty much just thru his hands up in the air.

:cake: OK.....I was nervous in the first place to get my first fill. When the Doc came into the room and asked me how things were going and I told him I needed a fill. He pulled out his tools(Needles) which I am NOT a fan of, I almost fainted on him. He laughed and told me if he knew that, he would have turned his back.hehehe Anyway.....when he went in to do the fill, he had one hack of a time finding the port, (I felt like a pin-cushion)It was the most annoying feeling I have ever had. He told me that it will get easier as time goes, cause I wont be so thick. Thanks!!!!! So now I am really, really hoping that I don't need another fill. I have a Vanguard band in which holds(10cc) which is common to need more fills to find the sweet spot. What do I do? Has anyone elese had this problem? Any suggestions?:help:

OK.....I am really glad that it is not just me. Scary....It was the actual surgeon that did my first fill. So I don't have any other choice. The whole thing on being "thick" I took it as weight. Cause he made the comment that as I loose the weight it will get easier. Trust me, now after week and half the whole pin cushion...I would do it again. I have lost another 3 lbs in a week. Thanks for all the replys.

Thanks guys!! I am not running a temp, but I have a itchy sore throat which might be gone by tommorrow. I really don't have a cough, but every once and awhile if I talk to much I will get a dry cough. I would think my chest will be clear and I should be good to go. Keep your prayers that I will get it done. Thanks again!! I have found this site soooooo helpful -
I have my date set for surgery. December 6, 2005 I am feeling mixed emotions scared, excited, nervous. I was soooooo excited about it but now that I have a date set I am really nervous. Boy....do I need to stay positive the 10 day diet I am not looking forward to. Does anyone have any suggestions how to make it easy? The date of my surgery is perfect, I start my 10 day diet the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I should be on Soft foods by Christmas. It must be a sign. LOL:banana

Thanks guys for your encouragement!! I am being banded in Morris MN by Dr. Frotier. I have not started the liquid diet yet. I will start on Saturday....NOT looking forward to that. Any suggestion......what kind of Protein drinks did you guys like? I bought a case of Atkins when I was at Sams the other day. Now since its Thanksgiving time chicken broth has been on sale so I have been buying that like crazy. Nancy...how are you doing, I almost called you last night. I am really getting nervous now since I have a date set. It almost scares me that it did go so smooth. Thanks for all the support!!

OOOOH!!! I am sooo glad you connected me!! I been soo busy here at work and at home. Actually I have been down and out with the strep throut. So I got a taste of the whole clear liquid thing. LOL Anyway Sherry called me :Bunny and I have an appt with Dr. Fortier next Tuesday. YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYA I am so excited. Maybe you can answer a question for me, do they submit after this appt to my insurance, or have they already sent it in? I have lost 7 lbs only due to me being sick for 5 days. I am finally getting my appetiate back. Enough about me. HOW ARE YOU!!! How much have you lost? Are you struggling or everything is going great!! Let me know good and bad! Thanks for contacting me, Michelle:)

Good Morning Nancy!!! How are you doing? How is work going? I have not heard from Sherry yet, sooo, I don't have a meeting set with Dr F for one-on-one. I am starting to give up hope. Thanks for replying!! Michelle
-
Thanks for the replies!! Did Dr. Fortier require you to loose a certin amount of weight before he would do surgery? Sooo, my question is should I start hitting the diet thing hard now? I have watching what I eat, but not been completely strict on myself. I have lost about 5# in 2 weeks. I could diffentely step it up a notch. I have about 110# to loose. Any suggestions.

WOW!! That is exactly what I wanted to hear!! I am actually more excited now after reading your reply. I am sooo ready for this, it just aint happening fast enough. My daughter and I went and dug out her baby spoons, I read that it will help you take smaller bits. After reading your response I am going to start cutting back to loose some weight. I have not heard from Sherry when I get to meet with Dr Fortier for the one-on-one. That makes me feel good that he is that strict on his patients, that only means sucess!! I have two wonderful children ages 6 and 4 and I want to enjoy them to the fulliest. So this stage in my life, I am willing to give up food to live a healthier life for myself and for them. I have a wonderful Husband that supports me 100% on doing the lapband. So what kind of diet did you start to go on before your pre-op diet or did you start the liquid diet right away? I have done alot of research between the lapband and the RNY. I have seen alot of sucess with the RNY but I believe God gave us all our bodyparts for a reason, so rerouting is out of the question. I also like it where the Doc is still involved in your weightloss through out the whole year. I just wish I would have a date set for atleast the consultation. What made you decide on the lap band? How long have you had it? I have tons of questions. I will be the first to admit, that I am really excited, but also really scared. I have such different feelings that I can not explain. Its like I am always thinking about this, my co-workers are sick of me talking about it. But that it is always on my mind. I know I can do this......actually I know I will do this and achieve all my goals!!!! I have compitiveness about me, if someone tells me a can't I will prove to them that they are wrong. Thanks for all your insite!!! Would love to hear from you again. Shellys
