Wonderful site for Gastric Sleeve
LngRedRose replied to LngRedRose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great... let me know how he does... :-) Good Luck! -
Asnewme1... Go to Obesity Help. There are a ton of folks that have had the sleeve for up to and over a year out. Excellent results are posted there...
-
Let me also say ... there is a HUGE forum on Obesity Help for Gastric Sleeve! :-)
-
It is the part of the stomach that will not stretch! You can out eat the sleeve... but you can out eat the band and gastric bypass as well. It is a tool.. and it is actually a great one. I, personally, cannot see how anyone could out eat the sleeve. If you overeat you will throw your guts up... or if you eat too fast or not chew your food well. (Yes, I say this from experience!!) LOL

Yes... I had it done!! :-) I had surgery on July 2nd... I have 33 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks. I am starting to get used to eating smaller amounts and I am doing well! :-)

What kind of questions should I ask?
LngRedRose replied to Ivernous's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had the gastric sleeve. I am 2 1/2 weeks out... lost 33 lbs so far! Hugs, Karen -
Anthony.. Can you give us an update? I am more than likely having this procedure done THIS month and my insurance is paying for it!!! I would love an udate.. Thanks, Karen

I am interested in hearing all of the answers to those questions, as well. My insurance has approved me for the lap band OR for the sleeve. Trying to decide which one is best for me. Thanks, Karen

Lap Band Journey Came to Screeching Halt Today!
LngRedRose replied to singledad167's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
BIG UNC... Where are you in Louisiana? Who did your surgery? Thanks, Karen -
Wheeler, I for one appreciate your HONESTY with the difficulties you have had with the band. I do not want rosy painted pictures of the procedure. I would be gravely disappointed if I didn't get the good, the bad and the ugly. Period. That is how folks make an informed decision. Having ALL of the facts... not just the ones we all want to hear. My opinion only... and it was free! :-) :-)

Sweet Pea... Thanks for your response. I really liked him and his office staff. Have you had a fill yet? How was that??

When does it start to work??
LngRedRose replied to noahsmomm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I realize this is not a quick fix. I have lost 40 lbs since February. I almost didn't qualify for bariatric surgery. :-( But I do still qualify based on things other than BMI. I am ready for the long haul. I lost 104 lbs in a year once and got pregnant and gained it all back. I am tired of the fight alone. (If that makes sense). Hugs, Karen R Louisiana -
scared...bariatric team discussing me today
LngRedRose replied to Luu2008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am very excited for you! I will be honest. I worked an idea job... LOVED it but the insurance did not cover weight loss surgery... so I changed jobs. Took a cut in pay and went to work at a place where they pay 100% of weight loss surgery. I am sooooooo ready!! :-) Hugs, Karen R. Louisiana -
scared...bariatric team discussing me today
LngRedRose replied to Luu2008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't have to do that. I just went to the doc.. he did his examination and got me approved that day with my insurance company. I am scheduled for June. Why is a team having to discuss if they will do your procedure or not? Just curious. Karen R -
Dr. Norwood is who I saw in Shreveport. Did you like him? How has your experience been so far?? Thanks Karen R
-
I am scheduled for June with another doc in Shreveport. I have an appt with Dr. Merriman today actually to see if I would rather have him do it. I have heard great things about him and his clinic. I would love to know more from you, Tara. Thanks, Karen R

Gillian, Trust me, you have impressed me greatly with your stats. I am like you.. I am going to work hard at losing. If I am going to go to all of this trouble to lose then I am going to work hard at it. :-) Hopefully I will be as successful as you have been. Congrats! Hugs, Karen R -

When does it start to work??
LngRedRose replied to noahsmomm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the person that asked this question. I, too, am scheduled to have the LapBand surgery on June 6th. My doctor assures me that I WILL feel a restriction after surgery. Most folks here say that you do not. My brother had gastric bypass 2 years ago. He has done great. I just don't want to go that drastic. BUT, trust me when I say... YOU DO have to work at losing weight with gastric bypass. You say it requires you to do nothing but that is simply not true. You have lost 60 something lbs in 4 months? You don't think that is fast? That is tremendously fast and great. I will take those stats anyday!!! :biggrin2: Hugs, Karen R Louisiana
