I had my lapband removed Sept. 2011, and had the gastric bypass done. I wish I had done the gastric bypass first.
-
I had my lap band removed because it did not work for me. I stayed hungry and throw up all the time. We I would lose a little weight, it would come right back. I could not eat in the morning, however by the afternoon I could eat a regular size meal.

Been away for a while...the new site is nice

First of all I do not regret having my LAP-BAND®® procedure. I have had to learn how to eat slowly and not drink anything while I am eating. It took a while for my LAP-BAND®® to be corrected to the just right point. I have learned you have to diet still with the LAP-BAND®®, just eating small amounts will not help you lose weight. You have to eat smart and drink low fat drink. Crytal Light in my personal favorite. I add Benefiber smooth to my crytal light for the fiber I need each day. I am able to eat more in the afternoon than in the morning. And for some odd reason I can't eat eggs anymore. For me the eggs are a mistery because I love eggs any way you fix them, however since my surgery I can not keep eggs down. After talking to other who have had the surgery some can't eat chicken, salad, greens, etc....seems that this is common, however each person has it's own food they are unable to keep down. -

I have been banded about a year and a half. My surgery was done by Dr. Ringold, and I am still very happy with him. I have lost 60 pounds give or take. I don't have a web site or blog except on this site. I am happy to be back and I am looking to sharing what I have experienced in the past year and a half. -
Date Oct 2009
It has been a year and half since I had my Lapband surgery.....I am getting close to my goal.....I have lost over 55 pounds....I feel great and look great. Time is really the key, it take time to change you eating habits.

What DON'T they tell you?
Pamhasband replied to TxShtKicker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had to "unfills".....the first one I waited for 12 weeks, I started losing my hair....no weight lose.....after the unfill, I lost 16 pounds in four weeks. If you are throwing up...you are to full, talk to your doc, it is not normal. The weight should come off slowly....even if we want it to come off faster (and I do) it is not health and will not last. Time is what it takes to change our eating habits and excerise. It took along time to put it on....it takes less time to take if off, if you do it right......best of luck....Pam -
What DON'T they tell you?

Dear Brad, I have been band since 8/07, almost a year. I have lost 45 pounds. I had to learn how to eat slow and not clean my plate. You still have to watch what you eat and drink. I have only told close family about band, no one else has noticed my change in eating. I go out to eat with my husband and I order a Soup or salad and eat some of his food if I am still hungry. I get my Water or tea to go, so that I can drink in later. You can not eat an drink at the same time, it can make you lose your dinner. I had about 25% hair lose. My hair has all grown back now. My energy level was low in the beginning. Now my energy level is better than before, because of the weight lose. The weight lose is slow, I thought it would come off sooner. You need to have a plan for changing your diet and some type of activity, such as walking or swimming. I do not like to talk about my band to much, however I do enjoy the chat room. I find the chat room is a wonderful support group and I have made new friends. Best of luck to you...Pam -
Hello BlueRose, My name is Pam and I have had my band since 8/07, lost 40 or so pounds since. This has been a life changing experience, not eating for comfort has been the hardest part. The best parts are playing with my grandchildren on the floor and being able to get up by myself. People treat me nicer and I feel better, my self image has really improved. I am taking less medicine now. I wish you the best with your decision, for me it was the best thing I could have ever done for myself and my family.

afraid to give away "fat clothes"????
Pamhasband replied to lonestar5212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Most of my fat clothes went to my sister-in-law...it felt good to get them out of my closet...purchasing smaller clothes was hard...I had no idea what size I was...225/185/130....I had to take several different sizes into the dressing room...what a job. It took me six months to get ride of the "big" clothes, but I am happy to have them out of the house now. -
enjoy while it last......remember your goals ....and you will be there before you know it.....best wishes....pamhasband
-
Not much to add, however walking and drinking water is the best thing the doc could tell me.....i have had 7 other surgeries besides my band......and the walking and water did the trick for me....best wishes.....pamhasband

keep a bottle of flavored water with you at all times.......drink, drink, drink......when you must eat.......eat tuna or some other type of baked fish.......i have had my band since 8/2007.....this worked for me.

My husband and I do not go out to eat very much, usually on the weekends. I enjoy cooking and my husband likes my cooking as much as I do. I am working on how to enjoy going out to eat again with my husband. When we go out to eat he will often say things like...."I''ll just order something and we can share it." or "I really do not think you can eat all of that."....I get my feelings hurt and no longer feel like eating at all. I want to be treated normal....not like someone who just had "STOMACH SURGERY".:huh2:

:huh2:It all began several weeks ago, just after a fill.... I got a sinus infection....my stomach was not able to take the mucgus (most at night)..so at night when I would try to lay down I was throwing up this green stuff all night or until I sat straight up....it was awful:tt1:.....I am much better now that I have been to see my ENT to get night relief from coughing and drainage.:rolleyes2:

Pamhasband replied to nce1025's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
:ohmy:I think my band was filled to much this time, I had a fill three weeks ago today....and I am just now able to keep soft foods down......lost over five pounds.....I like losing the weight.....but I have no energy and I am scared to eat in public (coz I may lose it without warning)
