    October 60 Mile Walk Challenge

Size10- My Dr. seems to think it was caused by the hernia. The band was irritating the hernia and attributed to my reflux which caused me to vomit, therfore, causing the slip. I had the band completely unfilled a couple of times, took Prevacid, etc.... Then it started all over again each time I started to be filled. I have a 10cc band, and only had 2cc's in when it started over and one day I just started throwing up everything including liquids. Went in the next day for a barium swallow which showed the slip and the hernia, had the hernia repaired and the band repositioned the next day and haven't experienced any problems since. Only it's taken much longer to get to a true level of restriction this time. I'm wishing you well and hope things work out for the best. Now if I could just remember my password for the ticker, I'd add my miles walked. lol

    October 60 Mile Walk Challenge

Count me in as well. This seems to be just the challenge I need to get back into the swing of things. Lost 100+ pounds , slipped band due to hiatel hernia, gained 25 following repair. It has taken nearly a year to finally get restriction again as my clinic has been very careful with re-filling. I'm looking forward to meeting this goal!

    Would you still have it?

It will be three years in January and though I've had my share of complications, I would definitely choose the band all over again. The only thing I'd do differently is not be so aggressive with fills. I think it's part of what contributed to my slipped band, which I had repaired nearly two weeks ago; so technically, I'm starting anew and hope to get to goal this time. Listen to your body and use the band as the tool it was designed to be and you'll do well. Wishing you the best.
  7. The previous posts were correct. It is imperative that you see your Dr. right away. I've had my band for nearly three years and began having problems about six months ago. I had the band emptied and still had problems keeping solid Proteins down. I began throwing up on a Friday and couldn't keep anything down for an entire weekend. Went in for a barium swallow the following Monday and my band had slipped. Surgery on Tuesday. It turns out that I also had a hiatal hernia that needed repair. Luckily, my Dr. was able to reposition the band and I'm currently a little over a week out and feeling much better. I was able to start soft food today and am grateful to still have my band. Should you have a slip, the sooner you see your Dr. could make the difference in whether or not your slip can be repaired or not. I hope everything works out for the best.

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Mia; That's wonderful news on trying to make babies!!! Best of luck to you!! Good to hear from everyone. I tend to lurk, but haven't really posted in a while. Weightloss is non-existent, but gratefully I'm slowly losing inches. At this point, I'll take what I can get. Haven't gotten a fill in a while, so I'm really starting to rely more on healthier choices and exercise. Hope everyone is doing well.

    Reflux redux?

Green, glad things are working out for you with the unfill and Prilosec. Wantitbad, just wondering why you were able to eat if your band was closed? That's strange. How long do you have to be on liquids?

    Reflux redux?

Green- My positive thoughts are with you. I have had problems with reflux that developed as a result of being too tight. My doctor did a scope, which showed no slips or hernias, but did put me on Prilosec along with a small unfill. Now I can't get fills of more that .10cc at a time. Good luck today.
