  1. thank you all for the kind words....i am so excited for all of you and i will be checking in to see how yall are doin'...
  2. hey guys! i have been trying to read thru and catch up to see how everyone is doing...there's alot going on with everybody...figured i would catch you up on me since so many of you were praying for me...i ended up losing the baby. that is the 2nd miscarriage for us, we were devastated. everyone at work is pregnant, so i know it isn't going to be easy, but i am just trying to get back to normal. in the process, they have rescheduled my surgery for october 16th. so i won't be a september samurai anymore:sad_smile:...i have to restart my liquid diet. i made it thru it the last time, so hopefully i can make it thru again. good luck to you all, thank you for the prayers and good thoughts, and now, my prayers are with each of you...
  3. not trying to be a board hog but i have a story to share.... do yall remember my rant on page 2 of this thread about the redneck:angry_smile: moment i was feeling with the radiologist on september 3rd? well, they rescheduled my chest x-ray for yesterday. i had a meeting to go to at the hospital i work at first. so i called the lab and asked them to do a pregnancy test so i could give that mean old radiology lady a definite NO, I AM NOT PREGNANT:thumbdown:...well, i peed in the cup, she set the timer for 3 minutes, after about 1 1/2 min. i said well can i tell her a definite no, so i won't have a 4 legged baby...? lab tech says yep u can tell her nope...so as i was walking down the hall i heard someone yell my name, i went back to the lab...and if u could have seen her, hilarious...she had this huge magnifying glass with a really bright light shining on my pregnancy test, and said i think it's +...i started laughing, cause i really couldn't barely see it...so she made me draw blood...it was +, so they did a quantitative to c what my hcg level is...was 39...very early pregnancy...the test from the 3rd that they done was negative, we looked it up...so i am in a state of shock really, because we have tried fertility treatments, and i thought the band would help me get pregnant...but i am trying not to be terrified, because we lost one in 2001 and have been trying ever since...a little cramping, no spotting...go to ob friday, for another lab to make sure my hcg level is going up...my last one didn't...nervous, happy, scared, excited...so needless to say i am not at hospital right now for my surgery...my husband was the last one to find out because everyone knew before i left the hospital...when perry came home...i was grinning ear to ear, so he knew something was up...so i said...i'm not having surgery in the morning....he was like why not? and i said...i think i am just gonna lay around here and get fat for about 9 months 1st...omg...he is so happy....he called everone telling them he was gonna be a daddy...please please pray for me....i have 2 years good on my 6 month pre-op adventure, so i will still be banded...and i will be a september samurai at heart no matter when i get banded...and i will still be checking in on you ladies....ty for all the support...nay
  4. so good to hear from everyone...i agree about sticking to the pre-op diet...not only does it shrink your liver, but it does prepare you for the band...after a couple of days the hunger was gone...now if i was cooking supper for everyone, i got a little tempted to pick...so what i would do is get a can of chicken broth...squeeze some lemon and lime in it(i did not have the suggested crushed red pepper) sip on that and it helped...the weight loss is an extra added bonus, because usually your not geting enough calories to lose a lot...i did lose down to 240...very happy with that...good luck and you are in my prayers, all of you...

    Band Name Game

well, i think the name i picked for my band is a little corny, but since i am from Tennessee...i call her "Jo" ........Band-Jo....so i can say, i am going to go and get my "bandjo" adjusted....or tuned up...and if i eat too much or the wrong thing...i hit a sour note...oh well, hope everyone is good...later, nay:thumbup:
  6. icjackson- my diet is kinda like yours except i can rotate between cottage cheese and yogurt...started mine on the 1st and as strange as this sounds...i am not even eating and drinking all that i can...i am just not hungry...i do drink a Protein bullet so i won't get so weak, and i need to drink more Water...but no hunger...i have been having the worst headaches that i have had in a long time.... debbie- hang in their girl...it seems people just don't realize what kind of stress this puts us under...my prayers are with you... ok, how is everybody else hanging in there? hope everyone is doing well...

Taking Pills = how do you do it?

i have not heard back from my doctor yet, so i called the pharmacy today...and it seems that none of the meds i currebtly take can be crushed because they are all time released...so i guess i will be calling my doctor Monday to get all new scripts...
  8. missbs...are u only able to drink 2 protein shakes a day? or is that part of your pre-op diet? i was just trying to figure out why i am not losing on my liquid diet...i can have 2 shakes a day, but i can also have 1/2 cup cottage cheese 3 times a day, and all of the broth and SF popcicles an SF jello....but i am not losing any weigt...so i was wondering about your pre-op and weight loss....i understand i am just trying to shrink my liver..but if i am not losing now it discourages me about after the band....
  9. or any close by that i did not name: elizabethton...jonesboro...etc

    Dr. Kapplan in Kingsport?

Recommendations on Doctors in J.C. TN

watson and hodge with Surgical Group of Johnson City have a really good reputation...don't think you could go wrong with either one of them....Hodge done my gallbladder and is doing my band as well...both good...
  12. hey guys...i am on 4th day of my preop diet...plus i am PMS'n sooo bad...i went to do my pre-op registration yesterday. i had to pee in a cup, have 9 tubes of blood drawn, my ekg, plus a chest xray... the radiologist made me so mad (i know she was doing her job, it was the way she spoke to me)...she asked if there was any chance i could be pregnant...and i said "well...i don't take birth control, but i have fertility issues, and i am supposed to start any day, so i would guess that i am not" and she said, "well, i need a definite no before i can do the test..." so i reminded her they just made me pee in a cup plus did bloodwork, test it and see...and agian she was like "well, i need a definite no before i can do the xray, and it will take days to get the results back on your labs..." i said, "you mean yall don't have a dipsick you can put in the urine and do a pregnancy test in the hospital? (which i know they do, cause i work at a facilty owned by the same company) she said no. and stared at me like i was an idiot....so i told her, she was not getting a definite "no, i am not pregnant to come out of my mouth" so they said they would have to wait and do the chest xray the morning of the surgery.... people, i am the most passive person in the world, but my head rotated on my shoulders....i guess the PMS, stress of the upcoming surgery, and this liquid diet is a bad combination for ultimate moodiness...hehe!!!

Taking Pills = how do you do it?

if your anti-depressant is time-released...see if it comes regular instead...or ask about switching to another one that is not time-released....maybe?
  15. i ate everything that i craved for a week...i did not think i was going overboard too much...but i gained 5 lbs...this is my 3rd day on clear liquids...7 more to go...hopefully i will be able to make it....but it was good for me to purge my head of cravings before...i don't really crave anything now and feel like i can make it...hopefully...i am sure i won't be perfect, i just have to always get right back on track if i mess up...has to be a way of life not a diet....good luck to everyone.
  16. what foods are you choosing to eat before surgery that they have said you can't have after sugery? anybody planning on a special last supper kinda thing before pre-op diet? i have many ideas running thru my head...thinking about a big ribeye, corn on the cob, pineapple...etc...but have not planned anything yet...but i have to hurry and decide, cause i go on my 10 day clear liquid preop diet sept 1st....or am i weird, and nobody else is pondering on such a thing?

    no pre op liquid diet?

hey teri, i have gained 6 pounds since my final viisit aug.12, that is terrible...i am having to check myself...i thought the reason for the pre-op diet was to shrink the fat away from the liver, so they could maneuver around it safely? maybe u don't have a fatty liver...i do. they gave me the pre-op diet, and the gave me a bowel prep to do the day before...so like i was saying maybe you don't have fatty liver problem?
