cathychatts replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello all you Lovely LB people! I have missed you! Thanks Apples for missing me! :w00t: I have been reading the post, but just haven't had much time to post. The college where I teach just finished our "accreditation" process and that is always just crazy. We finally finished that and then came our Fall break...:w00t: Guess what I did! I painted another room in my house and my son-in-law is helping me re-do my guest bath. We even took out an old cast iron tub! :cursing:Talk about exercise!!!!! I lost a few more lbs last week.:tt2: Oh! Long2bthin! I rode my bike some too! About 6 mile trip on the Greenbelt! The weather here is still beautiful! In the 50s and 60s! It gets a little cool at night, but it is awfully dry! the leaves are at their peak and it is like a dreamland in the mountains! I am about at my sweet spot and losing about 2 lbs a week. I am wearing my old size 14 petite clothes! I am slow, but steady! It is great to see all the success on this site! It is very exciting! Hope all you 50s are doing GREAT! Janet, Phyl, Lynnt, boch, Joann... Good to see all of you doing well! Janet, I have you in my prayers! I will keep in touch more! Promise! -
Hi Everyone! I have been so crazy lately and have such a hard time finding time to post. I am going to have to read for a month to catch up on this thread. Janet: I know you are helping so many people! I get the updates in my mail box, and see bits of it from time to time:cool2: We have been so busy at work and they actually expect me to teach a little. Given the economy, I expect the Vocational Colleges will get even busier.I guess that is job security! There are some of my June bug friends here and two great buddies, Long2bethin and Apples! Hi Gals! I have been doing ok. I went to the doc for a checkup and got .5 ccs added. I now have restriction. I am also trying to train for the Walk for a Cure, Susan G. Komen Walk. That is 3.1 miles. Janet: I walked the 3 miles to my sister's house again on Sunday and made her bring me home again. I know she gets tired of that, but it is so much easier to walk to "someplace" than just to walk. Isn't that crazy! I am enjoying the wonderful weather here in the mountains of East Tennessee, the leaves are just beginning to change and it is so nice to walk! Glad to reall about all of you and I will try to pop in here more! Long and Apples: I still go to the June thread, a few more seem to be checking back! I haven't heard from Kerry either, but Hunzi is back and ready to have her band put back in. Oh, I too am going to have a little more surgery. I am going to have the netting put under my bladder wall, I for got what that is called, but I am tired of having to change clothes if I laugh or cough! The Lapband helped some, but the doc said it wouldn't matter how much I lost, the problem will still be with me. So I am going to have it on the 6th of November. Not a biggie I will not even have General anastheia. Thanks, Janet, for letting me ramble on here! I love ya!

Hey Snuffy! Haven't seen you on the LB. I am down to 197 and waist is 41 now Can you update! Thanks and Good luck!

Mary: Welcome! and congratulations on your banding. I strongly suggest you get another fill!~ Don't feel alone for giving into the Carb-comfort thing! Most of us were banded because we couldn't do it alone! The band it only going to help if you are at the right restriction! Just keep at it and you will get to the right place! It has taken me 4 fills and 6 cc in my band to really feel the band! I am also a slow looser... you may be too! Just keep in touch, even if you don't always post the other's post will offer encouragement and support. Some on here are "super-stars" and will give you wonderful hope of what is in store for you once, you (and ME) reach that level of restriction. As my Doctor said to me on Friday, "once you get the right fit on your band and you start to really loose then the will-power will increase as well!" That made me feel so much better! Good luck! Remember we are all friends here and their are a bunch of Wonderful threads all over the board!

GREAT JOB! Long! I am so proud of you! I went to my doc Friday, got .5 put in my band. I had lost 7 lb since my last visit. I complained about losing so slow, He said I was right on track, He said since I was small and had a muscular build that my percentage of loss was equitable to someone else losing 50 lbs. That made me feel better. I can certainly tell by my clothes. I never know from one day to the next what I can wear. Things are just hanging off of me. Have a great day! I am going to play with my new granddaughter!

It's a busy day! Just wanted to pop in here and say HI! I go to the doc tomorrow and will get my 4th fill! I hope this one gets me to the "sweet spot" I have set a goal of 30 lbs by New year! Apples, glad you are doing well after surgery! Living and Long and vzghj and iteachurkid and gina and dino! Everyone! you are all wonderful support! :cool2: Now! Where is everyone else!
-
Apples: I will keep you in my prayers as you have surgery! I would hate to be having surgery again. Get better soon and come to Tennessee soon. I can't wait to meet you! I have been slowing down lately having the "crud" :cool2: It has made me feel awful, I did get most of my plants in the ground. I still have 2 butterfly bushes and 2 cottoneaster to plant and I will stop for awhile.... Maybe:glare: Alliemorris, I didn't get restriction until my 3rd fill. I get the 4th this Friday. Good luck! Dino! Great job, My clothes are my best measure of my loss, I change sizes quicker than the scales. The scale shows 28 lbs lost, but I have gone from an 18 womens to a 14 petite, that is a big jump! Brownbear: I am a bundle of energy :w00t: I :thumbup:love it!:w00t: Ok Long: now where are YOU? Strikeuptheband! I hope things settle down for you soon. Finally: All the rest of you June Bugs! Roll Call! There are over 300 of you!

Hi Folks: I had my surgery in June and Dr. Kramer was my surgeon, He is excellent, One of my students had surgery in July by Dr. Watson and he is excellent also! Dr. Kramer had a practice in Virginia for years before he came to Kingsport. Dr. Kramer onley does a few WL surgeries. I think anyone you choose in either practice will be a safe choice. Kramer has had WLS himself. He had a bypass. I was able to get the surgery quicker with Kramer and live in Kingsport, so it was easier. When I had my pre op I didn't have a program fee, in fact my entire process only cost me $50.00 and that included the hospital. I had 2 copays at the office. I will begin co pays again this next visit, because they don't charge for office visits 90 days after surgery. They may have added the 150. charge recently. I can understand they spend a lot of time on patient education and getting the insurance approval. Again, whichever doctor you choose, Watson, Hodge, Kappa or Kramer, you will be in good hands! Good luck to you all! PS My first visit to Kramer was in March and I had Surgery in June

Hi Amanda: Don't get discoraged, if this was easy we would not have needed surgery! Let me ask you a question, do you eat the quanity of "bad" food you did before the band? I am a very slow loser! We are at about the same weight loss. I do have a "bad" food on occasion, but try to eat healthy most of the time. As long as you are going down on the scale keep your chin up and try harder. One of the things I am doing is to schedule my treats. Like a TCBY low fat yogurt every 3 days, or a samll bag of chips 120 calories once a week. Hope you have a better week, I am going for another fill this week, and then I hope to be at my sweet spot!

Hello! Hello! Hello! So sorry I have been so :behindsofa:quite lately But it is nice to know that I have been missed. :bored: I have been gardening after work. I am trying to add two new gardens to my landscape. I have planted about 40 new shrubs and perennials! I still have about 20 more to put in the ground before the weather turns bad. Before that I painted my living room and a bedroom. I still have a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen to paint. All this is great exercise! But I am ready to be done with the work , and walk more. i have a gym membership and I am ready to go back. I hurt me knee and had to stay out for awhild. It is better now. I am doing ok on the weight loss, but still slow! I have always been a slow looser! I am ok with that though, I figure we are in this for the long-term. :mad3: Wow! Apples and Long, you guys are losing so fast! Awesome! Strikeuptheband, we are running about the same. :tt1: I go for another fill next Thursday, most times I feel like I am very restricted, but I can eat more at times. I read the article in the opeing forum page on stress and the band being tighter when we are rushed and when we are stressed, that is certainly the case for me. :tt2: I am glad you are all doing well, and I will try to post daily! I just got a little distracted. Right now I am fighing laryngitis! :cursing:I have been sick for about 3 days now. I hope I get better soon, I am taking off work tomorrow to try to rest.:smile2: Well, all you Junies! I love ya and am so proud of you all! let's all try to at least say hi every couple of days!

Hello Folks: I had surgery with Dr. Kramer on June 6. I also saw Dr. Kappa in the beginning. I was one of the first 3 to get the Realize band, that is why Dr. Kramer did my surgery. You will love all the people that work in that office. Dr. Kramer is excellent and has had WLS himself! I have lost bout 26 lbs since surgery and doing well. Let me know if I can answer any questions.

Hello June Bugs! I have exciting news! I have a new granddaughter! Her name is Lylah and she was born today at 12:27, 8 lbs 10 oz and 22 inches long! She is the first child for my son and daughter-in-law! ens All else has taken a back seat to this event! I have lost weight great for the past 2 weeks, since my 3rd fill. I am very happy with my loss and my new little baby girl. I will try to post more now! But for tonight! I am pooped and gotta get some sleep!

Good Day June Bugs! I hope everyone is good on this beautiful Friday! I have been busy for a few days and haven’t posted, but I have read the threads and kept up! I have been doing some late summer cleaning and painting on my house! Yeah! My daughter and 2 grandchildren just moved out of my house and I have it all to myself again! I suppose I should feel guilty, but I love the peace and quiet! I enjoy coming home and everything is in the order I left it. I love for them to come and visit and I love to spoil them rotten, but I love to send them home again… and sit down and not have to watch Miley Cyrus aka Hanna Montana! Here is my good news! I have lost 8 lbs in the past 2 weeks and have finally reached Onederland! I am wearing size 16 petite pants again! I went shopping yesterday and I almost bought a pair of 14 petite pants! I decided against it since I am certain I have a bunch of clothes in my attic I need to check! I think I have every size down to a 10 petite and I will just wear them as I get to them! I had a fill on Aug the 22nd and it has done wonders! Actually I think the doc would say I am too tight as I PB … a lot!

Hi Bugs! I am on vacation for a week and I am about to work myself to death! I have painted my living room and prepared a new flower bed already... I am also refinishing a couple of tables for my living room. All this work! The good part is that I am loosing weight so fast now! I am down 5 lbs since Friday, I had a fill on Friday and am now at 5.5cc. This fill is the "BOMB" it is working! I eat a little meat and I am good to go for hours! No hunger! I followed all the rules before, but I never felt restriction. I think I am close to my "sweet spot" Finally! The best part is I am tons of energy!:w00t: Long and Apples! Glad you are both doing so good! I think I will reach my goal of being in onederland by September! I am only 1.5 lbs away and i have another room to paint! LOL:wink2: All you wonderful Jazzie Junes Good luck and have a Safe and happy Labor Day!:cool2:

Strikeuptheband! I am so sorry to hear of your job trouble! I pray that you will find a job that is 100 times better... I know you will! (I believe in positive thinking)! Tell my students all the time that positive thought bring positive things. These words sound shallow, knowing you are facing having to job-hunt! Just know that my thoughts and prayers are with you! This too shall pass. I am doing very will with my last fill, but I know I have restriction now! I can hardly get any food down and I am full! I have pb a couple of times. I am also re-painting and cleaing my house so I am dropping the lbs.! Finally Good luck and know that I am thinking of you!

Hi June Bugs! I got a fill on Friday, and it is really one that I can feel. I have had a pd on two occasions! It hurt so much it has made me afraid to eat. I think it has been because I didn't stop eating soon enough. I realize now that I have been able to take a short break and I could keep eating... there was not enough fill and the food could ease past. Now, when I am full it hurts to keep eating! I sot stuck on a cucumber slice... not peel...! also a hotdog...no bun.! I know it sounds crazy, but the pain made me so happy! I know know the band will work. My doc didn't fuss at me, but he said I was loosing at 1/2 lb per week, and I could be doing better... Thus the new fill. I now have 5.5 in my realize band. Strikeuptheband.... we both seem to be on the same page!
-
Just checking in! I am doing good, need another fill. I read all the post everyday, but don't post much. Keep up the good work, I learn from all of you! Thanks

Long, congratulations on your 50 lbs. I thik it will be a while before I get there. I am now at 23lbs lost. Did I say i am a slow looser! Yep! So true! Very fuel efficient! LOL Have a great day everyone!

anyone else going through emotional upheaval?
cathychatts replied to kizzie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In her book Outsmarting the Midlife Fat Cell, Debra Waterhouse says that the stubbornness of fat in menopausal women does, indeed, have to do with dwindling estrogen levels. You see, it's not just that estrogen creates fat - fat also creates estrogen. You might call it a feedback loop. This ability of fat to create estrogen (and other hormones, as well) is why women who are a little overweight are far less likely to get osteoporosis than women who are underweight. It is also a reason why serious obesity is a risk factor for hormonal disorders. Because fat is a source of hormones, when estrogen production by the ovaries starts to drop as we approach menopause, the body hoards fat to buffer the decrease in estrogen. Waterhouse claims that women who aren't painfully thin actually have fewer menopausal symptoms than really skinny women, for this very reason. This means that our bodies are increasingly reluctant to give up their fat cells as we advance through perimenopause, and apparently supplemental estrogen doesn't encourage them to let go - it just increases fat deposition and holds water, just like it does during our menstrual cycles (or, for that matter, in farm animals fed synthetic estrogens to fatten them.) -
I just posted the on the fills thread. I am like you long and Apples, I feel like I have good restriction most of the time and then I can eat the house! I get a fill Friday, but I am afraid I will get over tight. I have been pretty good up until this morning and I wanted to eat everything. It is a funny thing, sometimes I feel a great deal of restriction and can only eat a bite, and then wham! Everthing I eat just slides right down! I am making good choices for the most part, and I have lost another 4 lbs that I haven't changed on my ticker...! Yea! I am just a few lbs from onederland! Anyhow! I get my fill and hope it will be the sweet one! __________________

I hear that fat emits estrogen... so that could be the problem, your estrogen is falling as your weight drops. Perhaps you should mention this to your doc... I hope you feel better soon! I have felt mean too lately... and very unmotivated! I go to my Gyn doc soon. I am going to ask about the hormone levels and weight loss. Good luck! you are doing great! -

How Much Have You Lost So Far?
cathychatts replied to Great2BThin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats Telford on the loss! I am so ready for another fill, I will get one next Friday. Long2bthin: I have had you on my mind. I know you got sucked into that thread about not exercising. I have avoided that, thankfully. It is not a reasonable debate in that thread, I have read it over more that once. Seems to be posion... I hope you are ok. Thanks for defending us old ppl! I think the whole thread is just a series of misunderstandings. I hope it becomes extinct! Apples: I will be looking for you in NE Tennessee. PM me when you will be traveling. Perhaps we can meet. Waikiki: bread products give me problems too. greyhoundmom: I saw that you got onto that posion thread too. I think everyone meant well. Strange how the internet can be. I saw Hunzi and Brownbear got caught up in it too. Hope it just dies now. The June bugs are a great bunch! We don't need to fell afraid to post, thinking we will get blasted. Some times we need to just agree to disagree! Oh! I hope this post doesn't rub anyone wrong.
