I'm no tworried about confrontation. My key concern is -- people are being treated inappropriately personally, so will they be treated inappropriately medically, too. And I don't mean by Dr. H, either. *sigh* I'm out of town thru Friday, which is why I say it will have to wait until Monday.

Oh, no no, not me. Not until 1) I don't get stuck on soup after a flight, 2) I'm able to eat more than I can now. And probably not until 3) I find a new fill doctor. And since I brought up that last point, let me share a concern I've had in the back on my mind. It's been made pretty crystal clear that we're now perceived as problem children (all because we share our opinions - beautiful!). I know you guys have been singled out when you've gone into the doctor's office, pulled aside, lectured, criticized, etc. So there's no question about whether or not we're "welcomed" there, IMO. Now I really have to wonder, if whatever we've done has been able to make that much impact on how we're treated personally, what impact is it going to have on how we're treated medically? And I don't mean by Dr. H himself, at all. To this day I maintain full confidence in his ability. But Dr. H only does part of it... Sorry, didn't want to keep that bottled up any longer, so I guess now you'll all have to deal with even more disgruntleds, since it's clear we're monitored and reported on, and you know that anything other than crystal clear, shiny reviews about the program get you treated poorly. Sorry for the vent, but I've had a growing concern and I'm not fully sure what to do with it. I think something may be going wrong with my band - well, not the band itself, but the area... my port scar has something going on. The skin around it is getting really weird... and I don't mean it's "scarred"... like the healthy skin is starting to change color, and the skin is getting a weird texture, and has started to cave in a little. This starts where the scar stops, and sort of radiates outward, eventually fading away. Not like an infection radiates/streaks... almost like something got smudged on my skin. Hard to describe, and I've never seen anything quite like it. I don't know yet that it's "bad", but it's definitely "weird". If it isn't better Monday I will go see my PCP, and I know she will do what she can, but I also know she's going to say "Call your surgeon". But with the concerns that I mentioned above... I just don't know if that's something I'm interested in doing. What would you guys do? Should I give Dr. Malley a call? Call Dr. H but tell him I'm not confident in the treatment his office provides? Call Billy, whom from what I've heard will just put Nola on the phone, tell Nola what's going on, listen to a lecture about what her position is and how we're hurting the program, go in, get called into an office & lectured again, then maybe finally get the medical treatment I'm after? As for the eating: Yesterday I had a half a Chipotle bowl w/ extra beans. Lots of decaf tea & water. Robyn - I think I may need to do the alarm thing you're talking about because what happens is I get involved in something, and since I'm not feeling hunger, I FORGET to eat.

Telly - I think I know what you're talking about. The kind of message where you literally have to work hard to figure out what's being said, to the point where you just stop trying. A small part of what I do at work is analyze evaluation/survey data, and I have to "read between the lines" and figure out what people are really saying... which is close to impossible when you can't figure out what they're literally saying, let alone figuratively. People here do the "r" thing too... "warsh my yeller shirt." And pronounce things with phantom letters, like instead of a "striped" shirt, it's a "stripe-ed" shirt... or instead of walking "across" the street, they walk "acrosst". When DH and I lived in an apartment, the guy downstairs from us was telling us one day about how he was losing Earl. We had no idea what he was talking about. Finally he said something in reference to his car, and OH! -- he was saying "oil"!

Oy, yep - we have that here too. And maybe it's a midwest thing, I really don't know - it certainly wasn't this way when I grew up on the west coast - but people here pluralize everything, and turn entire sentences into one word. Example: Yawntgo Walmarts wiffem? Aight, but kinwego Sonics too? Ok, something that secretly bugs me, just a bit. We're "losers", not "loosers" (umm... some of us might be though...) On a board I used to belong to there was one lady who would always exclaim, "I wanna be looser!" I don't think she knew what she was saying.

My mother married very young - around 18. Her first husband was a real gem. He moved her across the country, joined the military, and on the day he returned from bootcamp he used a tire iron to beat her into a coma in their apartment complex's parking lot. He then raped her while she was unconscious. She divorced him, and was no longer allowed to participate fully in her church's activities because of it. When she filed for divorce, he came after her with a butcher knife, and she happened to run to my father's door for help -- which is how my parents met. My parents have the most incredible relationship, but had hard times financially when they were first starting out. When they got married, it was done by a judge in his courtroom because the $100 they had between them just wasn't enough to pay for a church wedding. There are now even more things she isn't allowed to do, because "in the eyes of the church" she acted inappropriately. She would have had a church wedding, but couldn't afford their asking price.

    Band friendly barbeque ideas?

Rub asparagus in EVOO, back and forth on a cutting board to work it in. Sprinkle with garlic salt. Wrap in prosciutto, grill until bright green. Bacon-wrapped shrimp. Sounds like an odd combination but it's absolutely delicious. I make home made gyros (100% lamb, I don't do red meat) on the grill rotisserie. Yum! Stuffed chicken - can use whatever cut you prefer. Just cut in half width-wise and stuff with your choice of things - I use asiago, parmesaon, butter pats, garlic, etc. Sew or pin (toothpicks) closed, wrap in foil, and another pat of butter and perhaps some chicken broth, and grill.

    Hey, losers!

I'm eating way less than most others I know, I'm just never hungry, so here's my typical day: Breakfast - nothing lunch - about 25 pepperoni chips, maybe 1 oz cottage cheese with it, or about 2 oz tuna salad w/ a few crackers, or half a Chipotle chicken bowl (no rice extra beans). dinner - one chicken tenderloin or a half piece of fish with a few spoons of some vegetable, usually wax Beans or a potato dish. At some point before or after dinner, 99.5% of the time, I get in a Protein Shake made with 2% milk, and usually have a spoon of Peanut Butter mixed in it too, for about 50 gm Protein. The shake fills me up, so sometimes it's a toss-up between dinner or shake, and how much protein I've had so far makes the decision.
  10. Hi kimmason, I stalled (or rather, "paused") at 302 for about 4 weeks. More and more it seems like I go in burts of ten lbs. It took me forever to drop the final 1 or 2 lbs to be under 300. Then from 299 - 280 went pretty fast. Took a while to get 279, and here I stay, not budging an inch. I would guess that when I do move again, 269 will come pretty quickly, and there I will sit...

    Band friendly barbeque ideas?

Kabobs, fajita meat & veggies, sear some ahi, shark or swordfish steaks, "hobo dinner" - chicken cuts & veggies all wrapped together in foil with butter & seasoning. Many fruits are very good grilled - tomatoes, pineapple, peaches, bananas.

Days like today are what (I think) are perhaps slowing my weightloss. That and time, of course! But today, I'm MAYBE at 300 calories. Maybe. Oh, add about 180 calories for a protein drink I forgot about. So still under 500 calories. Never felt hungry today, so to eat more than that I would have had to eaten when not hungry, or go beyond satisifed. *sigh*

    Question about Moderators

I was reading the post as actions Penni took as Lisa's friend, not as a moderator. I may have interpreted incorrectly. I personally disagree with transactions being shared publically, and I think that most of the "message board" (behind the scenes) community does too. I meant it in response to people asking why users have been banned, why othes haven't been banned, etc. -- but it is certainly applicable to a much wider array of situations. To say "You've been warned" is one thing, but to say, "YOu've been arned about x action, x number of times..." or "So and so was banned for x" -- not my cup of tea. There is a group of moderators, but we all have different opinions, so unless I say so (which is very rare!) I'm truly only speaking for myself. Lots of situations would be handled differently if it were just me, so let's all be glad it isn't.

    Question about Moderators

Sorry nurse, I don't follow. My quote about handling corrective matters privately, and Penni's quote about trying to handle an issue with Lisa privately (though using the medium of phone versus computer). I'm sure you're trying to say something, but I'm not following...
  17. 250 will be nice, but the next weight I'm eager to see is 230ish. Between 230 - 245. For me that's a size 20, and the last time I could look at myself and feel comfortable was in a size 20... so it will kick of my "return to me".

    Question about Moderators

This is not a democracy. This board is owned by someone, who has absolute say in what happens. There is no "right to know". I've never heard of a board that discusses the details of any corrective action, including banning, with its members. Ever. Few will even share with other board mods encountering problems with the same person. I would HOPE, as a user, that this type of information would not be shared. It's simply no one else's business, and I think a lot of people, if having found themselves in the same situation, would prefer things be kept behind the scenes. If you disagree with something that has been done, send a message to Alex. That is my best suggestion for "getting your voice heard", "Getting your two cents in" -- whatever you want to call it. Don't expect explanations, justifications, or the ilk. They aren't owed. Alex isn't on the board much so chances are that he won't even see these messages. Even if he does see them, I would *highly* doubt he will publicize the reasons behind his actions. And good for him, that's the way it should be. IMO.

SO yesterday I ended up not eating until dinner. I ordered a large salad, but only ate about 1/5 of it. I'm going to guesstimate that if you made a salad on a tea saucer, that's the size I had. Consisted of: House basil vinegarette Asparagus Romaine Iceberg Wonton strips Peruvian pulled chicken Blue cheese I also had 6 sweet potato chips with sugar/salt seasoning And I had two of the tiny bite size Snickers! Today I have had: nothing! I will have either some cold cut/cheese from a deli tray for lunch, or leftover chipotle sitting in the fridge. Not sure.

Why didn't you tell me about this?!?!

I've had a *lot* of people here inquiring about the laptop & clothes. I didn't think to add that we'd since given them away. Sorry about that.
  23. I hit the 270s! This was another roadblock before me, because I figured I would need 20 pounds to say that I was "safely" away from the 300s. And finally I got it! 279 when I weighed Sunday morning.

Cynthia - you have the same band I do. I'm currently at 2.5. I could certainly PB before 2.5, but never felt much restriction. I think I could still take more, but it's working so far so I won't push it.

    Ability to report bad posts

DrewsLou - that's addressed in my other response. I don't believe authors have the ability to report their own posts because... if they managed to post something they themselves find offensive, they could just edit it. I can easily be wrong, though.
