The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research
Wheetsin replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in Rants & Raves
Indeed, you are absolutely correct. I assumed layman conversation when I butted in. My bad, perhaps. We can wax scientific (though - to clarify - I'm certainly not a creationist!) I have a paper on this somewhere in my heaps of articles, let me look. -
Worried I've done something stupid!......
Wheetsin replied to taylor.karen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:omg: :omg: :omg: Time to escalate. You can't be Mr. Nice Guy when it's your health on the line. There's really not much advice we can give other than "talk to your surgeon"... perhaps "don't take no for an answer". Where were you banded? Who was your surgeon? -

Has LBT helped or hindered your success?
Wheetsin replied to StephC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would say that LBT has neither helped nor hindered my success. I believe that had I not found LBT I would have lost the same weight I have lost. There's nothing I've seen or done here that has made the weight come off more quickly, or made rules easier to follow, etc. I ask questions & get advice -- mainly from the local board and from people in my "real life" support group, so I could have gotten that advice elsewhere... this just provided easier access. My surgeon's guidelines weren't horrible either. -
Anyone had band for 4 or 5 years?
Wheetsin replied to BJK's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know sisters who were banded in 2001. But this doesn't have to be answered by someone banded that long. I'm 11 months out and don't follow those guidelines. I haven't since the first handful of weeks. I'd be surprised if many people do. It doesn't take 4 or 5 years to get a "feel" for the band and what it will or will not allow. You learn that rather quickly, and get the occasional surprise. PB is bringing up stuck food. Productive Burp. Though that's not an entirely accurate name. -
Part of it is what the numbers include, and part of it is the patients themselves. It's very easy to fail on the lap-band. All you have to do is not use it correctly. The numbers you're seeing reflect those who used it correctly, and those who did not.

Hence we know it as the theory of evolution, not the law of evolution. -
A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

No easter egg here! I have a lot of black and gray. Most of it is in 30/32 or 5x-6x, from Avenue and Catherine's. In my closet, if it's not black, it's an earth tone. :heh: -
60gm/day, per my surgeon. Which I have hit 99% of the time since my surgery date, and I've been losing hair since month 3. :rose:

The secret herbal remedy to increase my penis size by 3" has been discovered. I've been preapproved for a $780,000 mortgage with payments of only $230 per month. A Ugandian prince read my story and feels I'm the right person to help him claim his inheritance, all I have to do is FedEx him a check for $5,000, and he promises he will give me 20% of his fortune. Yes, a busy week indeed. :rose: What email client do you use? There are some fantsatic freebies out there, that can all but eliminate the spam that makes its way to your screen.

The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research

I saw that video, I believe it originally aired on the BBC. Quite fascinating... of course I began my college life expecting I would go into research genetics. There's not much in the genetics world that doesn't fascinate me. :rose: -
Anyone Please! Have any of you financed?
Wheetsin replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not, and no one comes to mind. Sorry. :rose: But that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Have you called them and asked about the status of your application? -

No reason to buy. Describe your style and I'll see if I have anything that matches. :rose: -
The context of that statement being how I "came to be" an atheist. Perhaps to you discussion = debate. Perhaps to you "atheism" = my title. The religion topic usually comes on at the tail end of something else. If you'd done anything here other than troll around, you'd know that. A single search would tell you that. Atheism, in my time here, has never been a topic in and of itself. If my title had incited debates, that would certainly not be the case. And the discussions have never been a result of my title. Today you say that it "has not yet incited a debate" in 2-years. So were you wrong yesterday or today?? See above. But in order for you to be "right" I guess I have to be "wrong", so take your pick. Makes no difference to me. Patronize you! Sweetheart, judging from your pic, I am old enough to be your father, and respect comes form receiving respect. You have a lot to learn. You're older than me. That does not make it aprpopriate for you to refer to me as "Darling". You tell me I have all the facts wrong, but come up with all these lame reasons whay you don't want to give me the "real" facts! It appears that you just like to make comments and say nothing. As do you. You're "right" and you can't set "right" straight. And I never claimed to have "facts". I've claimed to have opinions and perspectives. I'll be one of the first to emphatically state that my beliefs are not fact. Regarding attacks! For some reason this thread seems to attract a large number of athiests, many of whom have jumped into the arena to take their shots at my posts. A large number... like 3. hey did not do this out of the blue. Again, you know that as well as I do. You did not innocently come here and innocently question. Your first post makes it clear you're here with an agenda. Why am I not surprised that you're now pleading innocence. You can't expect to attack (and by attack I mean insinuate it's an uneducated decision, as in "Atheist? Have you done your homework?" -- for starters) a belief and not have it defended by the people who hold it. Would you question or ridicule any other minority and be surprised if others of that minority chose to get involved? I have no problem with that and feel confident enough in what I believe to substanciate what I believe. Attack away! Comments included in quotes for the sake of cohesion.

I started my ab and lower back workouts 6 weeks post-op (my surgeon's recommendation). I did not have any problems. My port area did "twinge" a bit, due I would suspect to nothing other than the muscle movements (heck, nearly 11 months out and my port still "twinges" on occasion). After 5 months I'd think you're golden!

I have always said - the world would indeed be a very boring place if everyone believed the same thing.

Aww, you guys are making me wanna blush. And lisa, FWIW, I agree with Green. And agree with all she named. You are a wonderful breath of fresh air.

I'm silly. Ok. That title is not there to incite debate. It has been there for, as I said earlier, maybe 2 years -- and has not yet incited a debate. Not until you, anyway. If my goal was debate, and my title was the my means, I would have changed it to something else long ago, as unsuccessful as it has been. Far from bent out of shape. I'm train wreck amused. As I said, if this is "bent out of shape" to you, wowzer! Don't patronize me. You'd get a lot farther with your "debating", a lot quicker, if you'd show some respect. Oh, then you KNOW that nothing that has happened here has been a "viscous attack". My bad. But you've already said you're "right". And it's not my obligation to "put you straight", nor could it happen, per your own admission. You can't put "right" straight. Me smell troll. More and more.

I'm with Laurend. My first thought was - ouch - pumpkin edges are pretty damn tough. And then I thought, "He better hope he drilled the hole big enough." Only thoughts insofar as the joke was a story, of course. :rose:

One thing I didn't realize when I got banded, and wish I would have (even though it wouldn't have changed my mind) is that PBs *hurt*. It's nice to know that. I've had calls from bandsters, and we get several posts here, who are experiecing "just" a PB, but are absolutely freaked out because they don't associate it to pain, and they think something really bad must be wrong.

You're a rockstar! :clap2:
