Need cheap--non food--Valentine's Day ideas...
Wheetsin replied to blahblahblah's topic in The Lounge
Make him something "from the heart" - a photoshopped collage of pictures, etc. It's not vday but about 10 years ago I wrote my dad a poem about what I thought of him as a father and he has it hanging up framed to this day. Maybe something sentimentally for hubby like that? Make him a coupon book for things you will do/give him. They can be sexual or just sensual, letting him do things us wives hate when they do, giving him a weekend free of chores, "free" whatever he loves (back scratches, etc.)... It's a little cliche, but have a special night ready for him when he gets home. Candles leading him to the tub (drawn and bubbly) or the bed. Or just let him go in the backdoor. lol -
Body Issue 1: This morning in the shower I realized that my belly flop/apron/deflating stomach/etc is getting really deflated, looks like a beat up loaf of uncooked bread. Anyway, I never paid a whole lot of attention to it before but my pubic area is still really fat and chubby. I look like a Ken doll. Ok, I know this is not normal what so ever. Doesn'ts ound abnormal for obese women. We get mean cases of FUPA. Do I need to call my obgyn, or has it been this way. Umm are you seriously asking us if your pubic area has been that way??? I don't want to ask DH because I know he'll end up laughing about it. It definately doesn't look like Jenna Jameson there or any other woman in her line of work. Am I normal? No one who is morbidly obese is going to look like Jenna Jameson. Labia get fat, too. Body issue 2: So then I'm looking in the mirro as I dry off and realize my nipple are pointing to the floor. This is something new as they used to be where they were supposed to be. What is going on? Your skin has been stretched, and lost its elasticity, and is not shrinking back into shape as your boobs have gotten smaller (boobs are full of fatty tissue, so as you lose weight, you will probably lose boob too).

What you're describing is similar to the "last supper" syndrome. I'm not a fan of it. I think it's a way of letting fear overcome ration. An - oh no, I might not ever be able to eat this disgusting portion again, or I might never be able to indulge myself in this many calories again, I better get that one last time in... I personally think it's a wiser choice to head into surgery already decided and transitioning into new, better habits. I think it helps with long-term success, and I think it helps avoid the "oh shit" moments that SOOO many people have post-op. With that being said, you're going to do what you'll do, so whatever it is, enjoy.

It takes time. I still look at things and think "No way that's going to fit," only to have them be loose. But at the same time I look at my pre-op pants and thing, "Oh %^$@$*# was I seriously THAT big?!?!"

Should I have had a different surgery
Wheetsin replied to suefromca's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I love my band - and only you can say if you should have had a different procedure, but here's my advice: -
I think Ds are too big for most frames, so it shows you how much it's in the eye of the beholder. I'm a hair over 5'10, and have a heavy hourglass shape with broad shoulders. I wouldn't dream of going over a full C.

You know, I see a topic like "Help!!!" in food and I think - someone must be badly stuck on something, or has just had a bout of sickness and doesn't know what they can eat, or is in a lot of pain because of some type of food... so I open the thread and it's someone wanting to know about carb intake and 100 calorie snack packs. I eat bread and carbs as tolerated. If I eat bread I prefer better quality breads such as fresh-baked artisan loaves. I'll have the occasional tasted English muffin, and I use jalapeno tortillas for wraps. Sliced bread doesn't do much for me. I avoid most white carbs most of the time, but if I want something with them in it, I have it.

Sounds like you're too tight. Seek an unfill. Yogurt is a mushy and if you can't keep muchies down at all, why is there any doubt?
-
Diane just out of my own morbid curiosity are you still attending the SMMC support group, or have you abandoned that alltogether in favor of the Yahoo or Malley groups? (Or maybe it was Sea who went with the Malley groups... I'm starting to not remember things clearly :pray2: ) Oh and welcome all the recent KS ppl that I've not met or talked to. Which is most of you. Nice to see the local pool of knowledge & experience growing. Having that within driving distance is such a great thing. :wink2:

Well obviously things like enterics would be out. If you get to the point that you need a RX for anything, antibiotic or not, just make sure your doctor knows you are banded and may have problems passing even small pills into your stomach. It's their job to know from there what you can or can't have. Or at least to look it up.

One week post op and terrible Gas pains
Wheetsin replied to hsbeach's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gas pain, and post-op gas pain, are totally different things. It's like having a stabbing pain versus actually being stabbed. :pray2: From a previous post I made: OP, since your issue is internal gas, have you looked at what you're eating as a source? What are most of your meals comprised of? Post-operative gas, what isn't removed when the procedure is finished, or able to exit if a gas drain is used (not too common), leaves the body through a process called dissipation. -
Have to wait 2 months after surgery to discuss fill
Wheetsin replied to TripletMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, the band work swith fills. For most, it does not work before. For some it does. The amount of your first fill isn't something we can tell you. It will depend mostly on how your surgeon does things, as influenced by what you're experiencing. Some surgeons have set amounts they give unless there's significant loss/no loss, others will base it on what foods you can eat, others will base it on a visual fill, etc. Waiting between fills - I think my quickest return was 3 weeks. I wanted to give it a week to make sure the fill had kicked in, and two weeks to make sure I wasn't going to hit a wall when my period started (I get tighter around that time, for about 2 weeks - if I'm *tight* before my period, I will have trouble during). -
A few months ago I had to take a round of 5 separate antibiotics. I crushed them and would use drinkable yogurt to get them down w/o tasting them.

I responded to the other location where you posted this. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f84/i-gained-1-5-pounds-mushies-49770/ You really might want to do (everyone should who isn't already familiar with it) some reading on the body's metabolism, and find some way to measure your progress other than a scale. When you realize it's pretty much not going to happen that you gain 1.5 pounds of fat overnight, you also realize it must be something else, and there's no panic. A scale weighgs your hair, your skin, anything on and anything in your body. That doesn't do much for giving you an accurate idea of fat or sizing changes.

Will UHC Cover Cosmetic Procedures
Wheetsin replied to RoseCity Girl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yep yep, depends entirely on your plan as well as exclusions. It will say in your SPD, just read it. -
I gained 1.5 pounds on MUSHIES!
Wheetsin replied to SuzanneG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Daily fluctuations of weight up to 8 lbs or more are NORMAL and COMMON and no reason for alarm. To gain 1.5 lbs overnight, you'd have to eat the equivalent of like 4.5 sticks of butter in addition to your BMR calories. Take a deep breath, then throw your scale away. -
Do you burp more now that you are banded? (non-productive, just air)
Wheetsin replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well - there isn't an option for me. I need a, "No, I burp much less than before banding" because it most definitely isn't the same as before. I rarely, rarely burp. And when I do, it's different than how I would burp before. Like deep rolling burps, vs. shallow burps. Hard to explain, but I was joking around with some ladies I know who are banded once at dinner, and one of them burped in the exact same way so we started talking about it and yep -- all of us had noticed the same changes. -
Question For The Ladies.....adult Content
Wheetsin replied to hazeleyegrl1's topic in The Gals' Room
I gain between 6 & 15 lbs. It tends to come on about 4 days before I start, and go away about 3 days after I end. If I PB, I can pretty much guarantee it's within the 4 days preceding the start of my period. I get super duper tight then, which makes sense. -
Sounds more like acid reflux than PBing, especially with the night + laying down. One typically would not eat in the morning, feel fine, and then PB once you laid down. I'm not going to say it can't happen, but I've never ever heard of it, nor does it make sense from a "how it works" perspective.

Newbie from Kansas City :)
Wheetsin replied to wey2bz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi and welcome. There's a good chunk of us from Kansas City & surrounding areas - Overland Park, Shawnee, Blue Springs, etc. What part of KC are you in? -
I have posted a few times to this topic in threads. So rather than retype it all, I'll jsut be lazy. Cannot Eat During The Day Have Had 2-unfills Can You Eat Soup????? Expectations vs. reality And a poll I started on the topic: What's your restriction pattern? What goes down ok when I'm super tight... not much. It can take 45 mins or more to feel that a drink of soymilk has cleared. If I'm OK tight, then I go for things like Soups or very wet meat salads (tuna salad mainly), yogurt, etc. but I have to go VERY slow, like it could easily take me 2 - 3 hours to eat a yogurt single serving.
-
Mine did, but keep in mind that doesn't mean yours will. Some people continue the struggle, just with a little mechanical will power. For me, pre-op, I looked forward to eating. I would get exited if we were going to a buffet and hope they had certain foods. I f we planned a vacation, I would instantly wonder what kind of foods they had. Food helped me pass time - if I was watching tv, I was also eating, regardless of hunger. If I was studying, I had a bowl of chips with me. Etc. Now eating is pretty much a chore. I could count on both hands the times I've truly felt hungry since banding, even when I'm getting ready for bed and haven't yet eaten anything. I'm just not hungry anymore. This has been very liberating, because even though hunger rarely spurred my overeating, it was definitely a factor (OMG - I'm hungry?! I better go eat a lot because that's HORRIBLE!) I call it my shift from "live to eat" into "eat to live" -- I finally get what all the psychos who say that mean. As for cravings, I don't believe in stopping them. I think that denying a craving does more harm than good. If I want something, I have it - only now isntead of having ALL of it, a piece fills me up. If it's something I am craving but I just can't bring myself to give into, I will look for a healthier alternative. I love Peanut Butter. Sometimes I will crave a peanut butter cookie. Sometimes I will have the cookie, but sometimes I'm too tight, or they aren't available, or I have to buy 20 (which means I'm eating 20 or throwing 19 in the trash), so instead I will make my Protein drink with peanut butter in it. When you have a strong craving, and don't do something to address it, IMO most of the time it becomes a bit of an obsession. And when you tell yourself you can't have it, or try t ignore your obsessing, is when you "crack" and binge on it... whereas if you'd just eaten the damn cookie, all would be ok.
