    Is this RESTRICTION

Oh, gurgling. That happens, especially when you're not that far out. Mine have pretty much gone away except for when I'm stuck. I would suggest paying attention to how it works at different times of the day. Me - for example - I'm just darn tight in the early day, that's my "sweet spot" so I've learned to avoid most solids until early evening. If you can get down liquids without a problem or discomfort, "too tight" doesn't come straight to mind... I would tend to think it's more a matter of eating behavior or learning your own restriction patterns. Maybe try starting off with some hot soup, and then see if you can do a single bite of something solid. Make it a very small bite, make sure it's chewed thoroughly. Wait 5 minutes. If that bite still feels ok, try another.

    LASIK, What a great experience

Oh another tip - use your night-time drops! And if you wake up in the middle of the night, put more drops in before you go to sleep. My husband's doctor insisted on preservative-free drops, and thicker gel drops for night-time. Both gave him so much relief in the first few days. A few times at night our dog woke him up to make a potty, and hubby went back to sleep without reapplying the drops. Both times when he woke up he had noticeable blurriness that lasted about 2 weeks. His doc likened this to putting a coat of varnish on some wood, and then stipling it with a brush before it was dry. Over the course of about 2 weeks his vision cleared, as his doc told him it would, but those 2 weeks had to have been sucky for him. So anyone looking into this, O.D. on the drops! The light halo effect is interesting. It's something that most of us "nromal sighted" people see to some degree most of the time, but people with glasses don't because of the the refraction from the glass lenses. He kept describing this halo he was seeing, and wouldn't believe me when I told him that I saw it too.

    Where's the gang?

I miss some of the older people, and I don't miss others. I do wish Lisa would show back up again. (And others, of course, but her name comes to mind). She was always a very rational voice.

Hard to tell. How big of bites are you taking, what are you eating, and how much are you eating in what amount of time? If two bites is too much, what happens after one bite? Do you feel anything when you eat non-solids, or does it go right through? Etc.
  5. How quickly are you currently losing weight, how many calories are you eating, and where are they coming from, what's your fluid intake, etc?

    LASIK, What a great experience

Now that's an interesting first post... My husband had LASIK in November. He swears it's the best check he ever wrote.

    Endoscopy question

This is from the Internet, but it's accurate and saves me the typing: I had gastritis following a surgery a few months ago. More specifically I had a severe infection of the lower intestine. So it can be associataed in all directions. Have you tried non-ibuprofen pain relievers? A generic step in the right direction with gastrities is to stop anything known to be an offender, and have 2 - 3 days of Clear liquids.

    Robotic assisted surgery

Robotics are far more reliable than people. My surgeon did not use them. I, too, had no problems with gas pain. Never had much pain, period, other than at my port incision within the first two days post-op. I felt twinges for a few weeks, but never pain.
  9. I mainly crave orange juice, chocolate chip Cookies, and bacon. Funny. Pre-op, I could look at a plate of bacon and a plate of the cookies and walked right by them.
  10. Nope. I do not believe in god, nor does the fact that others do incite such hostility or anger in me. Some people need a god, others do not. I'm more about believing what I want, and letting others believe what they want, than letting the fact that someone believes differently than I do control my emotional state. I may think it's rubbish to hear someone thanking god, or to see people going to church. I may find it frustrating to have the faith/evidence discussion during theorlogically-based debates/conversations/discussions/etc. But it does not engender as much hostility for me.
  11. Re: "You really are clinically retarded." Personal attacks are not allowed, even in RnR. I see you have fewer than 10 posts here. Perhaps you do not understand yet that we can rant and rave until we're blue in the faces, but we do so with respect for other users. Don't let it happen again, please.

    Hmmmm...

Looks like a measuring tape to me. Which would convey the idea of weightloss & healthy eating. I think that's right in line what what we're doing here.

    What is PBing?

I would recommend you start a new posting wanting general advice, versus end-posting on to someone's introduction. If nothing else, advice posts typically draw more attention. That being said, peruse our FAQ section. Most people find there are answers to most of their questions there. If that doesn't answer your question, try running a search on the particular area you want advice, e.g. eating, pain management, etc. Chances are the advice is already out there, you just need to find it.

    Am I loosing too fast?

Oh I should add, you have not lost 13 pounds of fat. 50 - 75 of that loss will be water. And 3 - 6 lbs of fat in a week is a standard range. Aka, nothing to worry about.

    Am I loosing too fast?

I lost about 30 lbs in my first week. It will slow down. Enjoy it while it lasts. Instructions for tickers. This is sticked in board questions. You may find a lot of helpful information if you peruse there.

    Is too much Protein bad?

Too much Protein can kill you, but it requires complete extremes that, for all intents and purposes, you will never have to worry about. Just space your protein out. Any thing in excessive quantities converts. 60g is a guideline number. Sometimes I'm there, more and more frequently I'm not, and I'm doing just fine. Proteins keep you full longer than any other category. Hence, good for bandsters.

    Stupid thing to rant over.

Try using a slice of heel gripper or a tension ring sizer to make them wearable on the "right" fingers until they will go on the others.
  18. Most people with significant amounts of weight to lose, who lose it "naturally," will not maintain the loss. Sure, maybe if you see them in 4 months it's still off, but see them in a year. 5. 10. I think the people who have been successful at it were successful to the degree that whatever they received from eating, food, or weight was replaced by something else. I say good for them. I wish I could have done it, but I was never able to maintain the loss. The closest I came to doing it had me at a borderline eating disorder (eating disorders are VERY common for people who lost significant amounts of weight on their own).

Will I be able to eat "Normal" again?

This thread should answer that, and give you an idea of what you might expect, keeping in mind we're all different. Share ideas, what did you eat today?

    Went shopping in my closet!

Oh yes, a few bandsters I knew IRL and I would meet up for what we called "closet shopping" at each other's houses.

    Losing Hair...wow!

hair loss has much more to do with the fact that your body underwent major trauma than it has to do with Protein. Any advice that tells you protein overload is the answer -- take it with a grain of salt at best. You can lose hair if you have extreme protein (or most things including circulation/poor blood levels, etc.) deficiences, but we're just not likely to get there. Surgery, period, can cause hairloss. A significant body trauma, period, can cause hairloss. Body shocks, period, can cause hairloss. Bandsters have all of the above. I lost MORE hair when I had my GB out than when I had my band surgery, and my protein/blood levels are just fine. Throwing more protein into my diet would have just made me work harder to lose weight. We tend to run to our hairdressers for advice on hairloss because we assume they're experts, but they are no more experts on hairloss than someone who mows your lawn is an expert on soil chemistry. They can tell you how to style, cut, color, etc. but I've never once heard a hairdresser give good advice on hair loss. They're big on throwing protein at you - protein shampoos, conditioners... umm hello, hairloss is at the follicle... hair breakage is in the shaft, and might b e aided by slathering on different shampoos and conditioners, but keeping a hair from breaking doesn't do much good when it's released at the follicle.

    SMMC LB support group chicas

Sorry hadn't checked this thread for a while. And I see now that it's a moot point, but no, I had just heard that she left. No idea where she had gone. Very glad to see her back. I always thought of her as one of the highlights of the program. Sorry to hear that Linda left, I thought she was amazing and was most helpful with some issues I had.
  24. My band incisions were stapled, but a few montsh ago I had to have my GB removed and they were just steristripped (on the outside), internal sutures. Except for the bellybutton incision. They left this one open. I have a lot of loose skin and had to pull my skin up to see it, so it would look like a little agape mouth. It had some discharge, and if I touched it, felt like a bee was stinging me. And felt that way sometimes when nothing was touching it. Wasn't comfortable. I kept it clean and covered it with non-stick gauze and antibiotic ointment. It took about 7 weeks, but it eventually closed up completely.
