    gross question

I've used Miralax (sp) twice since my banding. It's gentle, causes no pain or discomfort, completely dissolves in liquid and has no taste, and for me has worked within 6 hours after taking it. You may want to give it a try.

    Economy.

I can't keep you in my prayers :rolleyes2: but here are some thoughts: Have you considered renting your first home? I don't know what part of FL you're in, but I know that property values in Tampa & surroundings are pretty much on par with here, so I'm assuming the price point in your house makes for a house comparable to what the same price point would get here, and a $210k home (size-wise) would be a good rental prospect. Perfect for a couple or small family. Monthly rent is better than nothing. If you can't afford the new house, I wouldn't not post it just because a realtor says there's not a market. All it takes is one buyer. Does your husband have enough work to keep him busy? Is his business to the point that it's more lucrative for him to be an employee vs. an owner? Does he have spare time, in which he could pick up some side work or a part-time job?

    gross question

Are you having no movements at all, or are you only having liquid movements?
  4. I actually wrote a paper on Thales' water elementus, for an interdisciplinary class I took. It was an evolutionary reconstruction using his writings on water paired with current (at the time) medicinal and biological knowledge of the human body.

    The Joy Fit Club %$#@&

I say good for Patti, whoever she is. 125# is a substantial amount to lose, and she'll be that much happier for having it off. She IS a superwoman. Anyone who can lose that much weight is.
  7. I started at 382. My first goal was 350 (-32 lbs). Then it was 300 (-82 lbs). Then it was 250 (-132) lbs. Now my goal is 200, which will be -182 lbs. I'm currently at 235 and have lost about 150. I would like to see 200 on the scale by the end of the year. I keep a skewed version of "goal." In a way I refuse to set goals because I refuse to be the cause of my own weight-related disappointment any longer. So now they're just markers -- something to set my sights on so that I don't get lost.
  8. I did not have comorbidities, but I knew it was only a matter of time. It sounds like you're finding one source of information and cannonizing it. Don't do that. Be a good researcher, seek input from all sources, and make a well-informed decision, whatever the decision may be.
  9. Umm what? That doesn't even make sense. Eat lots of eggs and you will lose weight because they have protein?? Eat lots more of ANY nutrient, including protein, than your body can metabolize and you will continue to add to your fat stores. It doesn't matter of it's protein, carbohydrates, fats, etc. Based on what metabolic process do you say that eating lots of eggs will cause you to lose weight because of the protein??

not trying to scare anyone but

By "throw a clot" do you mean he developed one, or that an existing one broke free? There could be so much going on here. An overload of Vitamin K (diet-related) could be a factor. No bandster I knows focuses their diet on Vitamin K rich foods (e.g. dark green things). LOTS of things can cause clots, and death related to DVT will (err, most likely I guess) not have anything to do with the band directly. It's winter, and coat sales are up. It's winter, and crime rates are up. Hence, wearing coats makes you more apt to commit a crime.

    Sushi!!!

I <heart> Sushi. I've never foudn a place that would insist on using rice, even the stupid sushi places at the grocery store. If you find the nori hard to deal with, ask for bean paper (it pretty much dissolves away) OR go with sashimi. I <heart> sashimi. If you're at home, just get a nice cut of yellowfin, blot dry (press hard) with papertowels. Dash some soy on. Slice on a bias in very thin strips. Then just add whatever you prefer and enjoy. This has become one of my favorite meals, pending I can find a good piece of yellowfin (not too easy since I'm in the Midwest).

    getting stuck where?

PB occurs at the esophagus, not the stomach. I politely soft butt some virtual heads over whether or not it is puking. To me, puking = vomitting, and vomitting = purging the contents of the stomach. When you PB, there are no stomach contents: acid, partially digested foods, etc. It's basically whatever got stuck, and whatever you've swallowed since. I don't vomit much, seriously twice in the last 25+ years, but I don't remember much pain or misery associated with it. Some nausea, and then you have at it. When I PB, it hurts. I mean - I have a high pain tolerance, very high comapred to most, and there are times where I can't help but double over or cry out in pain. I don't even mean to do it, it just happens. Especially when the pain of an impending PB is accompanied by the hiccups. That's the worst. The PBs themselves are nothing. You wretch like you're puking, and if you're lucky some saliva and/or particles of stuck food come up. Maybe you need to repeat, maybe not. Either way, it ends the pain, and that makes you happy. :wink2:
  13. Well, when I read Is there anyone out there that did not follow the diet exactly after surgery?" I was ready to say heck yeah... but now that I see you're referring to the time immediately following surgery, no. I was too afraid of the consequences not to follow it. One time by mistake (hubby made my dinner and meant well, but added something not in the plan), but that's it. I was to the dot other than that. What's the trouble? Are you needing more quantity than you're allowed? Are you unable to say no to cravings, and eating other categories of food than what's allowed? etc.

    Trouble With Tickler?

Oh TICKER - that didn't even dawn on me since it was tickler in two different places (and yes, of the French variety was the only thing I could think of). In our board questions area, where I will move this post, there's a sticked FAQ on tickers. Read through it and it should answer your questions.

    Who dreams of wearing stilletoes?

I've tried Birks but they're very uncomffortable to me. Flats are "in" this season, which is nice, not that I'm a great fashionista. I don't need the heels for height, I'm tall enough, so I've been trekking around in tons of flats, especially the strappy sport sneaker types, MJs, and some Born strap flats (I'd never worn that brand before, but they're super comfortable and I will be buying more).

    Question about Erosion

There isn't really a time minimum or maximum for erosions. Erosions take some (unknown) amount of time to happen, but how quickly would depend on a lot of circumstances. I've heard of several erosions with the first 12 months, so under 2 yrs doesn't seem unthinkable to me.

    I Have a Dream . . .

I've not seen christian bashing aside from the obvious post or two. That benig said, I don't even come close to reading every post. I enjoy debates of most natures. I wouldn't say that I "get my jollies" from it. It has opened my eyes to so many beliefs, perspectives, and ways of thinking that I would not otherwise have been priveledged enough to experience. Likewise, it has pushed me to reflect deeply and question what I believe is true when others question my way of thinking, and I have to explain my thoughts. Few things are as good at helping you develop real understanding than having to predict your own weaknesses. I welcome any activity that helps me learn, helps me see new perspectives, understand others, or exercise my critical thinking muscle. If that's "jollies" then so be it, I guess.

    Most Weight Lost in 1Wk??

I lost about 32 lbs in my first week BUT I had about 200 total to lose AND it was one of the largest drops my surgeon had seen AND at most 50% of it is fat, the rest is Water. A 40 lb drop in a week is highly unlikely. There's a 31 lb difference between my home scale and my surgeon's scale, and 24 lb difference between my PCP's. Looks like you got banded with about 100 lbs to lose. If you had lost 40% of that in one week, aside from being very unhealthy, you would know it through your appearance, clothing, skin, etc. I don't want to rain on your parade, just being realistic. :wink2:

    Who dreams of wearing stilletoes?

BTW, you don't have to be thin to wear heels. I wore them at my highest weight, which is probably a good 75+ lbs than most of you weighed on your worst PMS day.

    Who dreams of wearing stilletoes?

I love wearing heels but I detest anything close to a stiletto and would gladly buy a pair upon reaching goal, so that I could burn them. I don't think they're particularly attractive, IMO they look slutty and akward, and while I can walk all day in a 3" heel, ones that skinny (especially a stiletto above 2") are just evil uncomfortable. I'll spcify that by stiletto, I'm using the "fashion" definition of the entire shoe style, and not the "colloquial" definition of just a tall, skinny heel.

    LASIK, What a great experience

Hehe marimaru, so true. And with that being said, I do know one person, kind of. We worked in the same building, but I didn't know her that well. She was always blinking (big blinks, like when you're playing peekaboo) and using eye drops. We talked about it once and she said it happened after her LASIK procedure - if I remember correctly, she was not properly screened and should not have been a candidate. This was a good 6 years ago and I don't think her LASIK had been very recent, so we're talking several years ago total. You can find all kinds of stories & quotes from her if you Google her name, like that her eyes hurt too much to read her daughter a bedtime story, and I think she once told me that she has to wake up during the night to put drops in, she can't even sleep through the night any longer. With that being said, my husband loves his results. He went from very poor vision and very strong prescriptions to 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other.

Should I stay or should I go?

Aside from the thing with the daughter, and absence of emotion, he sounds like your typical clueless guy. If you are questioning whether or not you love someone, after a long time, you probably don't love them. If he refuses to go to counseling, he is in a sense refusing to do his part to make things better. At which time it's up to you whether or not what you have is worth carrying the entire weight of what's happening. A very neutral way to look at it is to post all of your pros for him and the relationship, and then post the cons. In a good relationship, cons should never outnumber the pros. People truly do just grow apart. We all grow, every single one of us, constantly. Sometimes you can grow like this || and things stay strong. Sometimes you can grow / and the difference is too much to overcome.

    Can You BITE?

I bite things all the time. This for me is no different than pre-op, other than I normally have to cut off a portion. Bites themselves, if it's bite food I bite, if it's cut food I cut.
