    Foul breath...

congratulations on your surgery. lots of luck. youre right on target. the foul breath is from ketosis. just keep on popping those listerine strips. too bad there's no protein content in them! the good news is once you start eating purees and bring some carbs back into your diet, i.e. bean dip, hummus, the bad breath will be a thing of the past. Just hang on...you'll get there.
  3. I asked my MD the same question but he said there are no dietary restrictions before a fill, though I think I will put myself on liquids the morning of. Due for my first fill this Friday (2/22). I'm really nervous about the effects afterwards. I was so swollen after surgery I could not keep anything down. I have just gotten used to feeling somewhat normal again.

    Dry Skin

Has anyone experienced dry flaky skin since being banded? I've been banded one month and have begun to shed! Is this normal?

    how is everyone doing

Hi all! I am 3 weeks 4 days out, but hey, who's counting? Doing pretty well... back at work, tolerating purees, craving some real food!!! Experiencing port pain, though. Hope this resolves soon. Can barely bend over. Guess that get me off of doing housework! And my surgeon wants me to start full workouts after the first month! Good luck to you all.

    Residual abdominal pain

Thanks all for the responses. Its comforting to hear that what I am experiencing is just part of the "norm". I am so terrified of complications like port twisting etc. Again, thanks all and much success
  7. I was banded on January 14th and I still get pain below my port incision, almost near my navel. Sometimes my abdomen feels sore to touch. Other times, like when I roll over in bed, the pain can be excruciating. Has anyone experienced this? Any insight would be appreciated.
  8. I was banded on January 14 and by day 4 I was experiencing extreme nausea, weakness, feeling like I was getting dehydrated and basically feeling like I was dying. Certainly was wondering what I did to myself!! My doctor recommended I go back onto clear liquids. Initially he thought this was within the norm, saying it was not unusual to feel this way for the first 5-7 days post op, but did get concerned when this persisted and had me take an upper GI to ensure that I did not have early slippage. Luckily, test results were negative. I continued on clear liquids only and by my one week anniversary, I felt remarkably better. My MD said I must have had alot of swelling around the stoma and could not tolerate the pureed baby food (as recommended by my nutritionist). I would definately speak with your MD but do try to hang in there and keep hydrated- broth, water, diluted juice, ice pops etc. Hope you feel better soon. Rooting for you. MaryT. Banded 1/14/08

    Feeling Bad

Was banded on 1/14. Experienced severe nausea until today. So bad that I was going to take myself to the ER. First my MD said this was normal. Then said this may be a sign of slippage but because of the MLK holiday, cannot get an upper GI until Tuesday. Today was the first day that I have not been overwhelmed with nausea. Hopefully my MD'sw initial theory was correct. I certainly do not want to face another surgery at this time to correct a slippage. Has anyone experienced anything like this?
