At the pre-op appointment, they told us to stay off the scales for at least a week after surgery as we would likely gain weight. They are pushing lots of IV fluids which increase your weight greatly...

Just dont swallow it!!! :tt1: That could be bad. I am a gum swallower so no gum for me.

As Alicia said... the walking is key. It gets that gas out which seems to be the source of a lot of the discomfort. I walked about a quarter mile this morning and it really felt good. Dont try to be a hero with the pain med either.... take it. Its hard to play 'catch up' if you start hurting. I am one happy camper today. Not hungry in the least. Its amazing. I was starving heading to the hospital on Thursday morning.... not one pang since the surgery. Forget the anxiety... ! :tt1::regular_smile::frown:

Im now the proud owner of an Allergan AP LapBand :biggrin2:. Surgery went great. Overnight stay in the hospital and was discharged around noon today. Pain/Discomfort hasnt been bad and seems to be mostly due to GAS both upper and lower. Walking is starting to move that gas along and pain/discomfort is dropping significantly. One thing that is very cool is that Im not hungry at all. No stomach growling... no craving... Im loving it.

I am now the proud owner of an Allergan AP Lapband !! Surgery went great. Im home now sitting comfortabally in my recliner. Pain hasnt been bad. No hunger. The biggest issue is that Im full of GAS... top and bottom. Once I got the gas moving, the discomfort level has dropped dramatically. The gas is really the source of most of the pain and discomfort. What is totaly surprising is the lack of hunger. No stomach growling, no craving. Very cool!

Pre-surgery diets... what does YOUR doc require?
dsk replied to cori in wa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery date is 4/3. Saw the Doc on 3/24. He told me to enjoy my 'last supper' mode for the next two days and then crack down and lose whatever I can any way I want over the next week and a half to shrink my liver. PreOp appointment is tomorrow for the full dietary team, psych team followed by blood work and anestesiologist (SP?). Flush mode Wednesday and surgery Thursday. Im walking about a half mile a day and cutting back on intake. -
Yup... April 3rd is the big day. PreOp appointment is tomorrow (Friday). Dr. Dana Portenier with Duke Weight Loss Surgery Center.

Got Cigna approval yesterday.... However, they messed up the procedure code and have me approved for RNY instead of Lap Band. Sheesh...
-
Duke WLS says they submitted my package to Cigna on 1/25. Cigna says no... that they didnt get it till 2/7. Im still waiting.... Checked 2/21 and it was still in review.

Anyone banded by Duke WLSC?
dsk replied to jennifernc88's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Im currently awaiting insurance approval for Duke WLS and Dr Pryor. My PCP recommended her and had sent another patient to her with good results. Hopefully next week Ill get my date. Im also in Apex. -
Your doc will have to provide monthly 'clinic notes' showing your weight and that you are on a supervised diet. If he has such notes in your record for the last sequential 6 months... you should be set. My paperwork went to Cigna on Wednesday.... fingers crossed :cursing:

Raleigh or Durham, NC recommendations?
dsk replied to JustinsMama's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My insurance papers are in for a (hopefully) very near future appointment with Dr Pryor. Got my fingers crossed.... What kind of issues did you have with the support staff?
