Its been pretty quiet here. I believe I could use another cc as I can still eat more than I should be able to. TWOterville is in sight so I am a pretty happy camper. The real test of will and band comes in two weeks when we head south on vacation. Good to hear that your revision was OK and all is progressing!

Its gonna vary from person to person. Typically, they cut your BP med dose in half after surgery. I was completely off about a month after banding.

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

It took 8cc in my band to get a 'stuck' situation.

Anyone live in the northern panhandle?

Pureeing everything would be considered 'eating around the band'. Soft and mushy stuff just goes right through it and doesnt give you that 'full' feeling which satisfies your hunger. Clogging it is no fun at all though. Ive had that happen 4 wonderful (NOT) times. Chew chew chew . The fill needle is no big deal. If the doc is good, you will hardly feel it. -

I was born and raised in the Kanawha Valley but now live in NC. -
Third fill today. Hopefully that will restore my restriction. Doc thinks this one will do me for quite a while. I hope he is right. Fill was actually done by a resident. She did a great job... even better than the doc. Hardly felt it. We stayed home for the 4th too. Taking our vacation the end of the month for 2 weeks. That will be the test of willpower and restriction. Hopefully I dont do too much damage to the weight.

Spread Sheet for Tracking April Avengers 08
dsk replied to GiGiRN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not sure whats up but I just tried again and I still get the spreadsheet in 'view only' mode. There are no blank lines at the bottom to add info. Oh well... Thanks!! -
My stylist says my gray hair makes me look 'distinguished'. Thats her lie and she is sticking to it. The way I look at it, Ive earned every one of these gray hairs with stress and Im gonna wear them with pride. Im in the same boat as you... 52 and with a 16 year old.

Exercise, Exercise and more Exercise
dsk replied to thunderstorm816's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I try to exercise 5-6 times a week. I alternate between walking about 2 miles and going to the gym. At the gym, I do 30 mins on the bike followed by the weight machine circuit and finish up with another 15 on the bike. Its getting consistently hotter so I may be trading off some of the outside walks for biking at the gym. I would rather walk though... and I know the dog would rather I did too since she loves to go. Hopefully I wont screw all this up when we go on vacation late July. -

HA! That is a great quote!

Hang in there CT... It takes a while to dial it in correctly. A couple weeks ago I was crying for an unfill (which I got) and am now ready to have that 1cc back.
-
My rate was quite quick in the beginning but has dropped off to a 1-2 pound a week pace now. The ticker tells the story.
-
Ouch. Been there... done that... Its not fun. You may have gotten something stuck or ate too fast.
-
Ive told quite a few people and they all have been supportive and interested in how it works. I dont go out of my way to tell them but if they ask me what am I doing to lose I usually dont hesitate to tell them. At work, only a few people have even noticed my weight loss even though its pretty obvious. The company I work for is very very "PC".

There really isnt a fill level that works for everybody. There are many different types of bands and capacities and our anatomys are all different. as sisterc said... if you are still eating just very mushy stuff (yogert, pudding, soup), your restriction may be limited as that kind of stuff just goes right thru the band.
-
You said it! I got 'stopped up' from a hamburger patty after my second fill and it was awful. Repeated pain and throwing up. Had to have an urgent unfill of 1cc to get back to reasonable.

help....I'm feeling miserable after my first fill
dsk replied to gdf18's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Getting full quickly is exactly what you want.... I know what you mean about it only taking so little food. They stress to us in the early post surgery phase to get 60g of protein every day and sip sip sip but when the band kicks in.... wow. The key now is to eat your protein first and take your Vitamins and exercise and when your stomach signals you to stop.. STOP. Also take plenty of water but not when you eat (at least 30 min before or after). Your lower GI will thank your for it by avoiding rock hard stool. Of course... normal disclaimer... your doctor is the boss. His counsel overrides mine :tongue2: -
help....I'm feeling miserable after my first fill
dsk replied to gdf18's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The first few days after a fill you should be on liquids or very soft food. Your stomach gets 'bruised' a bit and the scar tissue rearranged from the fill. It doesnt appreciate being filled up or having hard stuff pushed thru it right after the fill. It gets better after a few days. If you are overfull... you will know it. As to the little gurgle... you have liquid/semi liquid going thru a small hole. The liquid displaces air from the lower areas which comes back up thru the hole. Turn a full coke can (diet coke of course) upside down... the liquid doesnt come out in a smooth stream... air has to go into the can which interrupts the outward flow... As Jack said.. listen to your stomach. Stop eating when you feel even the slightest bit full. Eat slow so you can anticipate when to stop. If you go too fast, the bite that fills your stomach may be hitting it when you have two more coming down the chute.... and of course... chew chew chew. You cant get boulders down a little hole.
