~.~Accountability~.~ for those of us really struggling
Firecallie replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ooh this is getting good guys! And makes me want to up my daily goal. Today I will... 1. Drink 6 (16.9 oz) bottles of Water 2. Not eat after 7 o'clock 3. Do my stairs (intentionally) 5 times up and down today (I live on the third floor) DeLarla, what kind of dogs do you have? Could you be more specific about buckets of paperwork? Like how many stacks will you be working on? Or you will be consitantly working for how long? Celest, your treadmill goal motivated me to do the stairs, thanks! Ooh or we could do the movie thing? What are we going to watch? -
Count me in! Current weight 204 lbs. ~Signed Jini

Good goals! I ought to take measurements of myself but haven't done it yet. I have had 3 bottles of water so far so i'm almost half way there and my closet is cleaned out YAY. What about you? Abstained from junkfood so far? -
I was told no carbonation

Think of it like you're tying a string around your tooth, it can go around there just fine without doing anything but once you pull on it it tightens up. It's kinda like the same thing, the band doesn't change your stomach until you get a fill that makes it squeeze. I think anyway

I am right there with you. I have cheated and felt really low and then cheated again. I am not proud of myself but i have yet to control it. See post "I completely utterly blew it" in support if you are ever thinking you are alone.

I know that the best advice is to do something to occupy yourself, so when you get in "munchie mode" when your not hungry what do you do?

Why does food have such a hold on me? As hard as I have tried I cannot figure it out. I have come to realize that it is an addiction, a VERY STRONG addiction that I cannot overcome as hard as I try. So I went in for my second fill yesterday, was told to have liquids for a few days ect ect. Yeah that worked for one day, today I went out to eat with some friends and ate more than I NORMALLY would have without the band. It wasn't even healthy choices and it sure wasn't liquids...and as I ate it I even thought to myself "ya know this isn't even that good, why am I cheating with this" but I kept eating...and eating...and eating. I HATE IT! I can start off with the best of intentions in the morning and by the time the evening hits those are shot to hell. I tell myself i'll do better tomorrow, or that I will only have water and a protein shake tomorrow but deep down I know that I'll mess that up too. It's funny i'm usually all upbeat, happy go lucky, ms positivity but right now all that's gone and it's a horrible feeling, one that I have not had to this degree before. I am so dissapointed, angry and scared at any damage that I could have done, at myself.

I completely utterly absolutely blew it

Your positives are awesome though! Excersize and water are so important, and tomorrow is a brand-new day; but it's like i've had SO MANY of those already so whats the difference. I know that i'm just in a really bad place right now though a bad attitude and I somehow need to change it. It's nice to know i'm not alone though. I needed it tonight. -
Productive Burp...not vomitting but the food did not go down. There is a whole list of abbreviations on the board, i'll look for it and post the link

DeLarla's Happy New Year Pity Party
Firecallie replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Different circumstances but I am sick on New Years Eve (now new years...happy new year everyone!) and had to cancel plans. *sigh* -
Thanks Anne  Does anyone know if it is okay to take stuff like Pepto Bismol with the band...ugh

Last night i started feeling ill, so i took it easy and went to lay down. I did but a few hours later I woke up with the chills. I took a hot bath and ended up feeling sick, I coughed a few times but nothing ever came up but then I felt better and went to sleep. Today I still have that sick feeling, could this have somethign to do with the band or do i just have a stomach bug?

I don't know, I guess i'm just frustrated at everything right now. I paid cash for the procedure and had it done the end of Nov. I lost 12 pounds and that was it. So I told myself, well you don't have a fill yet, you're supposed to be healing...just wait till you get your first fill. Well time passed, more than a month and I got my first fill. Okay I thought this was it...nope nothing i don't even know what restriction is. Now today I found out that I have to wait yet another month for another fill. It is SO frustrating! What if the second one doesn't work...then another month. And thus concludes my venting.

How long did it take after your first fill before you got restriction

Or did you ever get restriction? -
Protein Drinks/Shakes Recommendation??
Firecallie replied to gentlespirit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
GNC French Vanilla ON GOLD STANDARD (<--brand name) blended with strawberries and ice is AWESOME. I am so picky about what i eat (hard to imagine i know) and I couldn't even do a cup of ISOPURE or anything else but I LOVE my shakes in the morning. IMO it beats Chick-fila breakfast which was what I was used to. -
any one ever cheat on liquid phase?
Firecallie replied to Nugent72197's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
All of you are much better than I...I think that i probably ate a whole pan of fudge myself. I am not stepping on the scale for a week and am getting back on the healthy eating track and hoping to have not retained any "christmas" weight. -
Thank you all for your words of support. To answer your question I do have a lower BMI. It's nice to know that i'm not alone i guess. I think I may have just expected to much too soon and can't get that out of my head. Oh well January 30th will be here before I know it and hopefully it will start working for me and until then i guess i'm going to keep on going on my own.

Thanks for your input. I feel no different and am scared that i'll be one of those whose first fill does nothing for them. Just like I was one of those who did not loose weight during the recovery time after surgery. It's like will anything ever actually start to work the way it's supposed to or am I destined to fail at this too. BLEH! Just needed to vent i guess -
Do you think their life will be better if you had this surgery and it succeeded (as statistics show that they do) or if you did not and continued to live as you are? I know it's scary, I was there myself with the "what am i doing to myself" thoughts. Logically odds of something going wrong are INCREDIBLY LOW, but on the flipside chances are obese people will suffer a variety of problems in their life. That being said you have to do what is right for you. Go with your heart, but don't let fear rule your decision.
