Depression is a dangerous illness and if you feel that you're in such an uncomfortable place that you aren't functioning and/or are having thoughts of "escaping" your pain then I wouldn't hesitate to go back on to Prozac. As a person with Depression (in recovery) and a mental health provider myself, I would tell you that if you aren't okay mentally and emotionally then anything you attempt to do physically will cease to be important in the whole scheme of things and quite frankly mean nothing to you (because you're depressed and can't experience the joy of your weight loss). I think back to being 140 lbs, in a size 10, looking the "best" I ever have and being in the throes of severe depression. To tell you to exercise is part of it but severe depression does not respond to exercise alone - medication, therapy, exercise and good nutrition as a combined approach is the best. Do what you believe in your gut is what you need to do because you are the one going through this and not taking meds because you don't want to stop your weight loss means nothing if you spend your days crying or being in despair. Just my opinion. Good luck.

SugarDaddy: Thanks for your honest thread. I will TOTALLY stick to the pre-op diet but I don't even have approval from the insurance yet let alone a date for surgery. It could be 3 months from now. Hence, that is why I haven't gotten strictly serious yet. Cloey

Hey ya'll.... So I'm in the process of pre-banding. I've taken my psychological exams, met with the psychologist a few times. Saw the general doctor, did some blood work. Meeting with the surgeon tomorrow. Met with the nutritionist once. The thing is....I haven't really lost any weight and I know that they expect you to before the banding. I just can't stick to a diet on the weekends. I'm okay during the week and then the weekend comes and I go out to eat a few times and well, there goes the couple of pounds I lost during the week. Things have been a bit stressful and dieting is not the highest priority for me right now. Also, behind it I think I realize that my relationship to food is going to completely change within a few months and I'm pre-grieving. LOL! I would be okay with maintaining my weight until the surgery but will they? At this point, I feel that is all that I am capable of right now. Any feedback on this for me?

Thank you for your positive feedback. It's so great to hear someone say that they are having a good experience because sometimes these forums are the talk of doom. Freaks me OUT!!! Please keep up pre-ops out here posted (and post-ops too!). Most of all, best of luck and happy losing! Cloey:)

So I was very happy that I had an appointment with the surgeon after a cancellation. Well it's been a really crazy and not too happy a week at work (long story) and lo and behold, I got caught up in a crisis and forgot to go. I swear to you, I looked up at 10:45 and realized I missed the appointment at 10:00. So I had to reschedule to my original date. I can't believe I did that.

Hi guys! So today I got a call from the clinic telling me that a patient canceled her appointment with the surgeon and he can see me tomorrow two weeks early. I'm really excited but nervous. I have alot of questions but most of all I want to know when my surgery will be. I was wondering if anyone had concerns about dealing with the band and going through alot of stress. For example, if you eat when you're stressed, how do you handle not being able to eat? Did you notice a big increase in anxiety? I work in an emergency room and some days I come home and I feel like I just left a war. Also, my nutritionist says you eat only 1/4 cup of food three times a day. I found this to be quite small compared to what others eat. That is for the 1st 3-6 months. No shakes or anything in between. Up to a max of 1000 calories for the rest of your life. How do you fit food into a 1/4 cup???? Hmmm....

Howdy all, I'm Cloey from Farmington. I am undergoing pre-surgery appointments at St. Joseph's Hospital. I work at St. Joe's so it's not only really convenient for me but the staff is really wonderful. I'm really nervous about having this done because I do love food and can't imagine having such a drastic relationship change but I'm also ready to get rid of the extra weight. So far, I've met with the nutritionist, doctor, psychologist, nurse and next is the surgeon on the 27th. Everyone has been really helpful, very available and I heard that surgery waiting time is very fast compared to other places. Feel free to write and I'll love reading your posts! Cloey
