Hey everybody! Welcome new May Flowers! Allison, I have the same gracery shopping trips you had. We need to make a pact to purchase no more junk!!! I just can't seem to help myself at times... it's like the food is callin me. My birthday is Monday and on Tuesday I AM starting my preop diet (2 weeks early) I think I have gained 10 pounds on this Last Supper diet I have been on for the past 3 months. I purchased Unjury Unflavored, Vanilla, and chocolate. I'll let you all know what I think after I try them. Wow, we are getting so close for many of you May Flowers. Congrats!

WOO HOO! I am so happy that things worked out for you!!!! Congrats!

Yep! That's the place! I live in Warsaw and teach at the elementary school. I love it here. I go to Osage Beach to the outlet mall a lot too. I wish you luck on your journey as well. I will have to drive in to KCKS to get my fills as I am going to Mexico to have my surgery. For some reason my UHC does not cover WLS but it seems others have no trouble getting UHC to cover it.

WELCOME all new bandsters! It is so nice to have a place to go and read everyone else's thoughts, feelings, and concerns that just validate your own. I have the skinny biotch sister with the skinny attitude. I just haven't felt the need to tell her yet. Thanks everyone, for sharing!

Kammi - When I student taught in another district I had your numbers. That class is in 7th grade now, I got a late start. They have been a really, how is the nice way to say this...bothersome class for all their teachers. They even made the Kansas City News last year for a so called "hit list" I keep praying for them as they were the ones that broke me in as a new teacher. Yes, you definately have your hands full. Isn't it great though the difference you can make in their lives? I am in awe of the impact teachers really do have on kids. Some of you Mays are getting into the single digit number of days. How are you guys holding up on pre-ops and with nerves?

So, yes I may go again...NO it will never be the same....and that is OK because frankly, I can handle it... THat is a great attitude! THere are times I have the same thoughts and then there are times I think .... No more bread!!! ACK! I can do this though, been fat, thin, fat, thin, fatter, fatter long enough! I teach 2nd grade at a rural Missouri school. I have 19 students and there are 3 2nd grade classrooms. Our school has like 445 students total at our 1st-5th grade school. Our kindergarten goes to a different school and including them we have like 500.

Nice to hear from you Southern Missy! Keep focused on your goal. You are not crazy. Your friends will understand and be by your side when you need them.
-
You can do this! Believe it and you will achieve it! This is short term - the band is long term. Just get over this short hurdle and the long term will be so much better.

Way to Go Allison!!! I'm sure everything will work out for you! I'll keep you in my prayers until you get your date. On how Ipicked my date from a previous post.... It was the week between school being out and summer school so in theory I wouldn't have to tell anyone at work about my plans. We ended up with a ton of snow days so now I have to get a sub for the last three days of school. I just told my boss it was a personal surgery. Not a lie. At this time only 7 people other than you all know. I am getting ready to order the Unjury so I'll let you all know the verdict soon. Shelly

Good Luck Allison!!! Let us know how it goes. Has anyone tried Unjury protien powder? unjury.com A bunch of people say it's the best tasting powder. I was thinking of ordering some. I live in MO and have never seen a Trader Joe's, I'll have to see if there is one anywhere near me. I can't wait until some of you early bloomers get banded so you can tell us all about it! COME ON MAYYYY!!!

Jessica - I understand. I keep thinking "am I sure I want to do this" and I do not hear an answer back saying "YES!!" in a cheerful excited voice right now. I don't have the support system that those going through the procedure here in the states has. I do however have all my friends on this site. THis is not an easy decission. This is a life long change. This is surgery. I know we have done a lot of research, think of the pros and the cons. I wish there was a support group I could go to near here. There's not, maybe you have a support group near you. If not, there are always the folks on this forum that are willing to give advice and support to help us through the highs and lows of our journey. We can do this. We WILL be successful. I am self pay as well. THere is no way I will allow this to fail and I am sure you feel the same. We are making an investment in a tool that will help us to meet our health goals. Keep your chin up. We can do this!

Thanks guys. I am, in a way, lucky to not have to deal with insurance. I do have guilt because I am saving every penny so that I will have the $7,200 for the surgery along with airfare and spending money in Mexico. I also have a house that is in need of repair, 3.4 acres that need mowed and the riding mower is broke and the yard too muddy to mow because all the rain that seems never ending. It is supposed to SNOW tonight, what the heck, it's the middle of APRIL for pete's sake. I just feel like I am being selfish. Ok, I am going to my "Happy Place" and forgetting the negative. I can do ALL things through Him which strengthens me. I will get everything in need of doing done. I am more than a conquerer. Thanks for listening(again), I feel better already.

I'm from the Lake of the Ozarks area of Missouri. It's beautiful here with Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Lake.

I have had a really grumpy day. I have no clue what's wrong with me today.
-
Allison - How was your appointment? Mae and Crystal - I am so glad I don't have to do a liquid diet. I have a low carb diet to follow. I think I can manage to keep things under wraps following it. I have only told 5 people (including my DH) that I am getting lap band and one of them is not my dad who thinks I am supposed to go out to eat with him every Friday night. WELCOME to all the new May Flowers!

Ok guys, here are the Top 4 (there was a tie for 3rd) EDIT: Oh man, not ew name :cursing: That's what I get for not putting new batteries in my keyboard. It keeps skipping and I have to retype. Please forgive me.
-
Welcome Back Miles... I was wondering where you were. I'm glad you had a great time on your trip.
-
Sandy - Welcome! Nice to meet you! Brenda - Happy Birthday! This procedure is my birthday present, and every other present for the next year too. I am self pay and it is a financial strain. As far as weight, I remember my 6th grade weight the most. I know I was the heaviest but tallest 6th grader at my school. I weighed well over 100 pounds and couldn't teeter totter with anyone, they just wouldn't go down. Light weights. OY Welcome Tonya. I am so sorry for the termoil and loss you have experienced. I hope this surgery is very success for YOU. Where God closes a door, he opens a window. This surgery may just be your window.

Welcome!!! Another May FLower!!!
-
Allison - I understand your feelings here. I still haven't told my dad. My mom and dad are divorced. I was afraid to tell my mom. I took her some information on lap band, she said that people should be able to lose weight on their own. I asked her how that was working for her and she quickly got my point. I told her I was having the surgery and she was fine with it. Well except for the fact that I am going out of the country and paying myself. Things will be fine. You are doing this for you and I know you love your mom, but this is your life and you have to do what you need to do to make your life better. YOur mom will be fine. YOu'll see.

I am so happy that our group keeps growing and growing! Welcome Seattleite!
-
I hear you all!!! I went back on my no flour no sugar diet and was successful for 1 whole week. I lost 6 pounds that week but have prolly gained 10 back. I am lucky that my preop is actually just a low carb diet for 2 weeks. Lots of veggies, fresh fruits, and a 6-8 oz serving of a quaility protien source for every meal. In theory that doesn't sound bad. My dad seems to think I am his social eating buddy and I haven't told him about the major changes to come. He always wants to go to all the best(worst for you) eating places like Charlie's (an Amish buffet with WAAAAYYYY good home cooking) or Chuck Wagon BBQ with all you can eat burnt ends, Chinese buffet, or Golden Corral buffet. Do you see the pattern here? I am thinking the words BUFFET or all you can eat should be considered taboo and very bad words.

Welcome Kami! You truely sound like a totally blessed person and I know this will be successful for you! Congrats on all the successes in your life. I too met my DH online. We both played an online game. Some people think it sounds weird, but it worked for us and it sounds like it is working for you too. You are so lucky to have family going through this with you. My dh is very supportive, but only my mom knows in my family (and with her reaction I think it best not to tell the rest of them. )
