    Not Enough Protein :-(

The chocolate unjury is awesome blended with some (1 - 2 TBSP) no sugar added peanut butter, skim milk, 2-3 PKTS Splends and some ice cubes. I blend the milk, pb, splenda and ice first, then add a scoop of chocolate powder and blend just until mixed. THat way it doesn't get all foamy.

    Walk Away The Pounds

She is annoying, I guess she figures she has to say something since she is getting paid. But, does she really have to say so much? A co-worker and I do them daily whichever one we have time for. I love the upperbody on the 3 mile the best, it's not easy but it does get you PUMPIN! I am only 5 days out of surgery but do plan to start back up with the 1 mile on Monday and see how it goes. Think I'll pass on the stretchy band part though for now.

    I am scheduled for May

Allison, You are so pretty that you have no choice, you will be beautiful. You'll see. I actually think the car ride would be the worst part. I think the Mexico pain meds must have really ROCKED because I had very minimal discomfort after taking them. They didn't make you feel groggy or doped up either. The liquid tasted like black licorice which I absolutly HATE, but could handle with a nice bottle of water to sip after taking it. I am also on an internal antiflamitory/pain pill to reduce surgical swelling, that one doesn't make me fell freakish either. I hate the doped up feeling so this works for me. I am down 8 pounds since surgery on Monday. 16 pounds since pre-op. I will have to get me a weight loss ticker now. Have a super day everyone!

Good luck Allison and Shelley. Things were way better than I or my husband expected. Today we went shopping at a mall in San Antonio and then to TWO movies! We saw What happens in Vegas, and Indi. I liked Vegas better but Indie wasn't too bad. I felt GREAT all day. No gas, minimal pain. I just absolutly can't believe it. Prayers to all getting banded. Hugs to EVERYONE! Shelly

    Post-Surgery Check-In

Finally! I am banded and back in my hotel room. Everything went well, if you read Enigma's post, mine was similar. I had no veins even though they poked me 54 thousand times. Oh well, just a few extra bruises. Everything went very well and I am now suffering the gas with the rest of you newly banded. I have 2 band sisters that I will be directing to this site too. They were awesome and I am so glad I met them.

    May 20th TIJUANA

Hey you Mexican patients. Just a quick question. How was the plane ride home. I am really kinda freaking out about that more than anything at this point. banding is Monday and flying home on Thursday with a layover and plane change. Do you have any advice how to make this easier? Thanks!

    I am scheduled for May

Well, I have crossed one hurdle, I am out of school!!! Well until I teach summer school starting June 2nd. I go in on Monday for my surgery but am traveling out on Sunday. I am getting a tad bit aprehensive. I have really don't have a pre-op but I self imposed one and have not been on the straight and narrow the whole time. Today I chose grilled chicken with mushrooms and onioins at the Mexican restaurant instead of my usual cheesey saucy, greasy dish so I guess that's a plus. I am just so ready to get this show on the road already. It seems like I have been living this since January, Oh wait, I have been! So bandsters who have had to travel, how is the plane ride home? I am a little worried about that. You know how you get herded around like cattle and jostled and prodded. I am traveling on day 3 after surgery. 3 hours by plane, 3 hours in a roller skate of a car. Please let me know how this went for you. Thanks for listening, Shelly HOLY COW THREE DAYS!!!!!!
  11. I am considering Dr. Rod for my procedure. Can anyone give me some current information on him and his staff please? All information will be greatly appreciated.
  12. I feel we have enough posters to make some informal introductions. I would really like to get to know a little more about you all. I am excited to be know as a May bandster. I am Shelly from Missouri. I live near the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. I'm almost 39 years old with 2 teen age sons and I'm soon to be a Grandma. My DH is wonderful. He is really supportive of my decission although he always says he loves me just the way I am. I am a school teacher and teach 2nd grade. I love each and every child God has put in my path as a teacher. I am hoping from this surgery to gain better health and increased stamina so I am able to keep up with all of them little angles. I am currently 264 pounds and 5'8" tall. My BMI is 40.14 and soon to be falling Praise God! I am self pay so I am heading off to Mexico after almost 2 years of reasearch and a year of saving. The thought of going to a foreign country used to scare me, but I am really at ease with my decission after reading so much and speaking with so many people. This has been a very personal and difficult decission for me as I am sure it has been for all of us. We are worth it.

    I am scheduled for May

I went shopping yesterday! I spent like $200 but am set for a long time. I also packed my suitcase for my trip since I am traveling. I only have ONE WEEK to go!!!! Today is going by like the blue blazes so I hope the rest of the week follows suit. I have been keeping everyone VERY busy with seat work, which is actually not my style but I only have a few days to get everything finished up here. Good luck to all being banded! Thanks for your stories on the other post! It is nice to read what you are going through. Shelly

    I am scheduled for May

The closer it gets to the end it seems the longer the weeks are. My 2nd graders are absolutly NUTS! Today was 54 students, 15 parents on a hot bus for 4 hours for a fieldtrip. The activity was great but the bus ride was NOT! I too am thankful that next week is it for the regular school year and then to bandland! I am actually kinda freaking out right now. I am in the single digit on number of days for. I hope this is normal. I just keep thinking of all the work in my classroom I still have to do and then there is the surgery. And least we should forget the stinking gas prices and screwed up economy and here I am spending all our savings on me. Lord give me the strength to calm myself down. I can do all things. Thanks for listening and such. Shelly

    I am scheduled for May

Allison, Thanks for the well wishes. I am still not feeling great but I slept till 1:00 pm today! I do feel a bit better I think the antibotics are starting to kick in. Good luck on your finals!!! also, I have only told 2 people at my job that I know I can trust. I told my boss that I was having surgery and when he asked what kind, I simply told him it was personal and would be okay to teach summer school on Monday. He dropped it after that. I haven't made a big deal out of my absence so no one else has either. Just play it low key, it'll be fine. I actually think it's against the law for them to ask what your surgery is due to the new privacy laws. Congrats on your date Felicia!! Welcome to the May Bandsters!!!

    I am scheduled for May

Welcome back newly banded and welcome new bandsters! I have been noticing the stress level too. As a teacher and it being the end of the school year, I actually think I am doubley stressed. I have to make sure my inventory, class supply order, grades are on permanent records, room is cleaned, kids are ready to be done and other mundane things are finished BEFORE I leave for my traveling surgery. Plus, now I have strep throat and have to stay home today because I feel like I am being stabbed over and over in my tonsils. I better be over this before my date. I am going back to bed, I feel totally like crud. Prayers and best wishes to all you soon to be banded and recently banded!

Congrats to May 6 bandsters- Shawna, Jemo97, Cherj60 I hope everything went magnificiently. And best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery to May 7- bandsters Makeupqueen, Mely, Ellen, Pix, JRFAN88 Day 2 of pre op diet(getting a tiny head start on the two week thing) I am doing fine with no slip-ups thus far. Of course it is only day 2. Unjury protein powders are really good btw. Imho the chocolate is better than the vanilla. Although my mom likes the vanilla better. I am going to try the unflavored in chicken broth tomorrow for lunch. Have a super HUMP day everyone!

    Goals...inspiration...dream outfit...etc...

I would like a waist too. And to be able to get down on the floor with my students and not have to crawl to a chair to get up (actually happened)(more than once). I would like to go shopping and love, love, love what I try on. I would like to be able to wear a swim suit at the public pool and look at least half-way cute. I would like to walk up stairs and not feel like my lungs are going to burst because I am out of breath. But for now, I am going to settle for my dream hair-do. Getting it done next week hopefully. The rest will come.

At least I will have some "older" band siblings to inform me of the ups and downs. Hope everyone is hanging in there on their pre op diets and nerves. You can do all things! NOT some things, but All things.
