Surgery In 5 Days!!

Hi everyone, I'm scheduled on April 16th and I'm having mixed emotion too!! I know I have 6 days left... and I'm counting down every minute. The worst part is that i feel my emotions are taking over me.... I feel happy and strong one minute, then scared and weak the next!! I'm normally a strong individual, and I'm turnin into a WHIMP!!! lol I cant even understand why I keep flipin back and forth with these feelings. I think from reading everyones message, it looks like this is a common thing... I just don't know how to control this flip flopin... How do you stay positive, and stable in your decision??? -
Hey Yard Dog, My surgery date is also scheduled on the 16th!! I'm scared and nervous all at the same time. How you doing??? 6 More days ya know!!! lol.. Lots of Luck!!! Let me know how ya make out!

I'm sooo sorry to hear about your brother. That is really sad. Life sometimes is unfair....Stay strong... You did very well!! Did you lose weight before the surgery or is the weight loss from surgery till now? What kind of protein mix are you using?? Any suggestions as to which is better. I'm using this Nectar, it's pretty good, but I don't think it's filling. Maybe because I'm not banded...and to me it's like drinking water. I really appreciate any suggestions!! 8 more days... and counting.. lol. Talk to u soon!!

Went grocery Shopping today, purchased all the items I need for my pre-op diet. 10 more days till surgery. Made chicken soup w/ extra broth, I drained some of the broth into plastic containers for the week, and froze them. I have enough for the whole week, and the rest of the chicken soup is for my family ( which has the veggies & chicken) all i need to do is add pastina in it for them. I'm still very nervous... but I'm keepin calm by keeping busy. Trying not to think about it much.. (hard to do) I'm already making plans for next weekend, my last weekend before the surgery. Going to the dentist for a check up and cleaning, getting my hair done and get a pedicure & maniacure...... (on Sat). Then on Sunday, Get up early, clean house top to bottom... then go Grocery shopping for the week. Make some meals for the family... so I can relax the rest of the week!!! I know i'll add more to the list as time goes on... 10 days and counting!!! :wink2::crying::biggrin:

Maybe you have chicken stuck???? I know of a women that had steak after 4 weeks being banded, against Dr. Orders!! and the steak got STUCK!! They had to empty the band completely, until she healed... I guess it caused an irritation.... Please call your Dr... Rather be safe then sorry!! -

I gained a few pounds also!! I think more so because I gave up smoking!! It's now 4 mo w/o smoking... I also feel like I need to eat everything I enjoy the most.. as if i'm saying good bye to all my favorite foods!!!!!! Like it's my last supper... lol Don't worry that your gaining.. this is the whole reason for getting the band!!! It would be a good idea to do some kind of pre-op diet prior to surgery.... just to shrink the liver, and the surrounding fat around the stomach. Lots of luck!!:bolt: -

OMG.. finally someone that I can talk to that has Dr.Storm!! How are you feeling... I see you were banded on the 5th!! Congrats!! =) I went for my Pre-op visit the other day.... I'm geting nervous as the count down begins!! I'm getting banded on the 16th and I would love to here about your journey to this point!! Tell me.. tell me.. lol =) Lucy

Today, i'm not as scared... LOL I guess I started talking about the procedures w/ co-workers... and everyone seems to be really positive about the whole thing, except for my boss.... He doesnt want me to do it. (as if he's my husband!! LOL) I think he's more worried, as to who's gonna run the office while i'm outta work! He's such a jerk sometimes.... But i've made up my mind and i'm doing whats best for me.

Surgery date with no approval??

Hey Jersey Boy... I didn't have to do 6 mo. of supervised Diets.... The only thing they requested in addition to the norm, is 4 mo. of dietitian vistis... and thats it!! Got my approval on the 28th!!! Scheduled for April 16th. Maybe it all depends on what mood the person is that is processing your paper work!!!! LoL Lots of luck.. and keep positive!!!=) -
Went to see the surgeon today, she went over the whole procedure. I did get a bit freaked out when she said when they put me to sleep they have to put a breathing tube down my throat. That the Anesthesia paralyzes my breathing.. and that the machine will breathing for me... OH LORD... what am I getting myself into??? I took a copy of my lab work from my pre-op testing that was taken on the 25th. it was a copy of my blood work . When I got home, I reviewed my blood work, I noticed my LDH levels were elavated. Not sure what the means, but bring the test results to my primary Doctor to review. Freaking out now... Always make sure to ask for a copy of your blood work, and look at it. When in doubt, ASK QUESTIIONS!!! We are all human, and there is always room for error, and things to be over looked.

Thanks for your support!! I'm so am scared of dyeing... who would cook for my family... lol My husband, 2 boys 14 &15... and give doggy snacks to my 2 lil yorkies!! Clean up after everyone...LMAO I can't go now. lol I know the procedure is relatively safe.. but everyone has fears. Your right, you need to have faith in God!! So you recently had your lap band..Congrats!!! how are you feeling??

I'm really getting nervous now. I have people telling me that the lap band, is a fad... You will never keep the weight off permenantly.... You'll eventually start eating like you always have.... and gain everything you have lost, plus!!!! Are there any Veteran Bansters here..... more then 5 yrs???? I need to know how those people are doing!!!! Please tell me if you were able to maintain!!! Tell me your complications if any... tell me... tell me everything!!! :tongue_smilie: -
Thanks for your buddy request! How you feeling? I'm getting banded on the 16.. and I'm nervous like heck! I just hope to god I'm not makeing the wrong decision!!! Ok.. you all are gonna think I'm nuts, but I just Got the APPROVAL from my insurance company for Surgery on April 16th, after waited 4 mo.. and It finally came. Now I'm in a frakin out!!! All of a sudden, I'm scared!!! I'm a very strong individual and I don't know where all this is coming from... I"m Excited and Scared a the same time... The Dr.'s Office left me a message on my cell phone, and I'm afraid to call them back!!!!! Why am all of a sudden having all these mixed emotions????? I feel like I need to take a xanax now... LOL Did anyone go though these different emotions at the same time, once they got their approval??? Or do I need mental help???? lol Please let me know how you all felt, once your approval came though!!!! :lol::waytogo::smile::tongue:

Thanks everyone for the feed back!!! I truly appreciate it. I guess it really the un-known is that I'm afraid of. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has doubts... When you start hearing negative things like that.. .you start to worry.. and 2nd guess if this is actually a good thing to do. I know I've heard of people that have had the gastric bypass... then then after several years, their stomach stretches. and they gain all their weight back. I don't believe that happens to everyone.... You gotta want a life time change... and I do... Just freaks me out.. cuz i really don't know anyone that has had the band for many years, and know their outcome.... Thanks for responding. I truly appreciate any and all feedback!! -
Hey Mariah, thats funny.. see, we have a lotta things in common!!! I'm excited, and anxious to get it done. I can't wait to get my official approval around the first week of April. As for my baby, I'm not sure when Pebbles stoped growing. She's a teacup yorkie. You may want to check w/ your vet to find out how big your baby will get. I love yorkies!!! My boys adore them tooo, but they'd rather have a Rottie instead! Ok.. I'll talk to u later. I need to get dinner ready for the family. See ya later!! =)

Yes.. Thats my baby Pebbles!! She's 2 yrs ol female yorkie, 3.5 lb. Love her to death!!! I also have another one and she's a big one.. i think she may be mixed... she's about 16lbs!! But I love her even though she's a chubbet!! LOL I wonder if she'd qualify for a lap band!!!lol

You gotta stay positive! I wouldn't harrase the insurance company. I tried that, and my Dr. told me not to and that his office was working with them directly. You dont want to ruffle any feathers w/ the Insurance Doctors, that actual approve you. If you were denied, then that is a different story. I would harass the Dr.'s office... and ask them if there is anything you can do to expedite your insurance approval. Keep me posted, I'd like to hear about your progress.... good luck and hang in there. -

Yes!!!! This is happened to me also. I have BCBS, My original surgery date was scheduled for 2/7 and did my pre-surgery testing and was called 2 days before surgery, and they told me that the insurance company is asking for 3 full months of Nutrition evaluations, and I only had had 1... so now I'm scheduled for 4/16 surgery. Wont have my approval until 4/2. (4/2,l will have completed 3 full months of nutrition visits!) I still don't know if the insurance will come back and ask for something else!! Soooo frustrating!:thumbup:
