  2. Happy 48th Birthday Neenco!

  3. Yes, Albany Medical Center and as I got reading through the thread, I began to wonder what AMC meant for you. At Albany Medical Center we were given the Mediterrenean Diet. They teach us to each normal foods pre-op so we know how to each post op, after initial post-op diet. Post op was 1 week of clear liquids, 1 week of full liquids like tomato soup, then 2 weeks of mushies, like yogurt and cottage cheese and probably something else.....but I'm too tired to remember right now. If you provide me with an email address, I'll be glad to email you the pre-op diet we were given and any info I can find on the post-op diet. The biggest thing I still struggle with after 11 months is to remember to eat slowly and chew my food. I still have to make choices that are good for myself, so I don't eat junk food. For dinner, I had 1/2 ham sandwich, 1/2 c low fat yogurt and 1/2 c low fat cottage cheese & 1/2 c grapes. It's really a lot food and a nice variety. Hopefully you have support groups up north.....we have them weekly for general weight lose surgery, so it includes bandsters and bypassers and monthly we have a lapband group. I do as many of them as my schedule allows, because the support post-op is very important. Get me an email address and I'll be glad to email whatever I can get my hands on. Thanks for writing! Stay in touch. -Dineen
  4. The pillow will come in handy on the ride home. I put mine between me and the seat belt, it made for an easier ride home. Good luck and keep us posted!
  5. Hi there, I'm in Schenectady, NY and I went to AMC and had Dr. Singh and Dr. Dunnican. They are awesome surgeons and I would do it again. I was banded on 2/4/08 and my total pre-op and post-op is 75 pounds. I know a few people from the Lake George Region that have come down to Albany for their surgeries and still attend the weekly support groups. They have an awesome program at Albany Medical Center! Good luck.

    Re-Introducing myself

Hi Amber, Welcome back. I'm Dineen. I was banded on 2/4/08, just a few days after you would have been banded. My total weight loss since then is 55 pounds, plus another 20 pounds pre-op. So, it's been well worth the experience and the surgery itself was easy, for me at least. Go through all your pre-approvals and "just do it" my dear. Your life will only get better from that point forward! Good luck in 2009!! You are worth it, so do it!! Keep us posted. 8)

    Gettin' Looks?

Dflippo, I'm a gal in Upstate NY and had my lapband 3 months ago and have no regrets. The surgery was easy and recovered in 10 days, back to living my life, just a new way of eating. I still eat, a matter of fact, I eat more then my support group pal Tom who had bypass the same day as my banding. He's lost slightly more weight then I have, but I like that I can still eat, enjoy myself and lose weight. I love my band! You will too! Keep us posted on things and good luck! -Dineen
  8. Thank you for your comments on pbing and slime-ing. I have had it since last week when I got my first fill. I don't have it all the time, but atleast I better understand what's going on inside of me, thank you for taking time to response to the question! Happy Easter.
  9. I'm 2 weeks post-op today and had a similar experience. I don't have anymore pain and will return to work tomorrow. Lost 22 pounds on the post-op diet and I've had restriction and feel full when I eat. Good luck!
  10. I was banded on Monday and it does take time to get through your broths and drinks. I thought I'd miss it, but I don't at all. When it's time to eat, it's almost like.....not again. You'll all do great, stay positive!!
  11. I'm sorry you have so much going on. 1100 calories is fine. You are still in control. You could always ask the boss why this issue came up. Keep of track of your hours and things will work out. Good luck, I'll keep you in my prayers Andie.

    AlkaSeltzer Cold & Flu

found this online that says no bubbles: What Happens After Adjustable Gastric Lap-Band Surgery? By Tracee Cornforth When you are ready to leave the hospital, you may receive a visit from the hospital dietitian who will go over the required diet for Lap-Band patients. It’s important to fully understand the Lap-Band diet before you decide on this type of weight loss surgery. The first 3 to 4 days following Adjustable Gastric Lap-Band surgery patients must follow a clear liquid diet. Failure to follow the prescribed diet can cause complications such as band erosion or slippage that require additional surgery. If you are a regular coffee, tea, or soda drinker you should be aware that no caffeine is permitted for the first three months after surgery. Carbonated beverages; both diet and regular may cause gas, bloating, and an increase in stomach size due to the carbonation and are not recommended at any time for Lap-Band patients. Hope this helps........
  13. Congrat's on the surgery. How are you feeling? I'm getting banded on Monday and was glad to read your thread today, thanks for posting. Welcome back! Best Wishes.
  14. I've read other posts that say to use a heating pad on your belly to move the gas allow. I'm getting banded on Monday and I have my heating pad ready and waiting. Good luck with it!
  15. Panda, I'm going to use Beneprotein. It's odorless, tasteless and has no flavor. Just add it to your liquids, hot or cold. I've been test driving it this week in my water w/crystal light and I have no idea it's there. Just getting some extra protein. You can put it in broths, vitamin water, jello-if you make own, stir in soups, sauces, anything. It's sold at Walgreen's in my area. They keep it in the pharmacy section, I had to ask for it. Here's the link for you to check it out: Beneprotein Instant Protein Powder | Resource | Walgreens My surgery is Monday, so I'm getting ready! Best of luck to you!!
