  1. Happy 34th Birthday nicolebarda!

  2. Gosh, I feel your pain. I just logged onto this site to find out the same thing as you. Does anyone know how much to expect for band removal? Really not trying to pay $5000 for such a task. Thanks and good luck!
  3. I had my band done by Dr. Aceves on Jan 21, 2008 and had already a major slip and got unfilled however when I spoke to Dr. Aceves about getting the lap band redone he told me that he doesn't suggest this as he usually does the sleeve for these types of issues. I am now 30 weeks pregnant (and only gained 4 lbs) and about 184 lbs and am considering getting the surgery done about six months after I have my baby with Dr. Aceves. Your posts have all really helped make my decision. I just know that removing the band completely without something else, isn't something that i trust myself with. Thanks, Nicole
  4. I am now 30 weeks preggers and throwing up almost 3 or 4 times a week. Some days I can eat and others I cant at all. I have barely gained 4 lbs so the thought of gaining all the weight isn't an issue any more however I am now thinking that since I have been throwing up so many times this pregnancy that I completely slipped my band out of it's location (really)!!! Anyways, I am now thinking of switching to get the gastric sleeve after this baby is born as that is what my doctor suggested since keeping the band in when it slipped so badly isn't an option. How have you been?

    Port Discomfort

I am 30 weeks pregnant and have extreme port discomfort however it is usually after a sonogram. With this baby I have to go in for a sonogram almost every two weeks because the baby moves too much and they need to measure all his body parts. Well every time I go, they push on my port to try to get some necessary shots of the baby and it leaves me in extreme pain for a couple days thereafter.... Wish there was a solution to this! 16 Weeks Preg, Possible Band Slip

I am about 30 weeks and had a slip with my band (though the slip occurred before I got pregnant). I had the doctor take out all my Fluid from the band however I threw up almost daily and now my doctors are concerned that I am not gaining enough weight as I am 7 months pregnant and barely gained 4 lbs. I am thinking about having the band taken out after I have my baby and get the gastric sleeve as that is what my doctor had suggested. I hope this helps. Good luck! Nicole
  7. wow, that is incredible... I was beginning to feel like no one would relate to my issue! I am due April 1st and really am praying that once I have the baby that my band will be in place and eventually I can get it filled again so that I can lose the weight I presumably will gain during this pregnancy. Do you feel tight at all? I sometimes feel like my band is tight but then there are days that I feel like I can eat just about anything. I am very conscious though to chew everything a million times since I am so scared for my band.
  8. So I went to the doctors about a two weeks ago and found out that my band slipped and that I needed to get a complete unfill so that *hopefully* it will go back to its original position. Before that I had terrible acid reflux, was throwing up daily and coughing. Now with the unfill, I have been on a liquid diet and should continue to be on the liquid diet for another two more weeks. Yesterday I got a call from my doctors saying that my blood test and urine test all came out positive and that I am pregnant 5 weeks! I am thrilled because I have been ttc for a year and a half! My issue is that I am worried that my band won't go back to its original position... I am so nervous about gaining all the weight I finally lost. Any advise would be helpful! Thanks! 247/221/178
  9. I have been banded now for almost two years. I lost about 60 lbs however about 5 months ago I started having terrible cases of acid reflux (enought that I couldn't sleep a full night). I went to a fill doctor and she unfilled me only .5 cc (which she thought would ease the pain). As it turns out, 4 months later I was still vomiting at night with terrible acid refux, however a terrible cough began and that is when I went in to get the band checked out via laproscopy. The doctor told me that I had a slip and that 50% of the time i will go back on it own. I am on a liquid diet for 30 days (day 7 today) as they have completely unfilled me and was wondering if there is anyone out there that has had this happen to them and the band went back to its original position? I am just so desperate for advise and want to be optimistic however from what I have been reading, almost everyone has to get another surgery. Please respond with any adivse... Regards, Nicole

    Acid Reflux at Night

My doctor told me to buy an over the counter drug called Prilosec. It is a pill you take once a day for two weeks and it should help. I am now on my fourth day of taking it and have found it to be a great help. I have had a slip in my band and my doctor removed all the fills I ever got and we are waiting to see if it goes back to its original position. I hope this help you the same way it helped me since I wasn't getting any sleep at night due to the acid reflux. Thanks, Nicole

    A word of encouragement!

Everytime I read your messages I feel much better. I too was banded in January and feel that now I am just waiting for my 6 weeks to be up so that I can get a fill as I am feeling little restriction and not losing any more #'s since a week ago. Keep posting your thoughts as they help everyone! Thanks, Nicole 221/210/145
  13. I am about 10 days post op and feel like I can start to have anything blended (soups, even fish put in the blender). Does everyone feel the same at this stage or is everyone still supposed to be in the liquid phase still. Thanks for all your responses in advance. Nicole

Fills in Greater Washington DC area

Thank you so much for all your help. I heard of Dr. Brinkley but was steering away as I didn't want to do it without floro. Will definitely be calling Dr. Rickford. Thanks again... Nicole
  15. Hi there, Does anyone have any suggestions where I can get my fill done either in DC, Virginia or Maryland with floroscopy? I got banded in Mexico. Thank you for your help in advance... Nicole
