    Breastfeeding

I also have an almost one years old who was breastfed until 6/12/13 I wanted to wean him before surgery. We were down to two feedings, one just after wake up, and one at nap. My husband put him down in the evenings to make it easier for everyone, because my son would DEMAND the boob if I tried. If you can you might try and get some assistance for any feeding that you can. My son is weaned now, I will tell you how we did it. **** I do not recommend that you try this next part***** I was planning to drop the morning feeding Friday of that week we woke up Wednesday morning, did his feed, then just before nap he tripped and fell smashing his nose into the edge of our entertainment center. Bloody nose, swelling, sneezing blood, couldn't breathe through his nose. I got the bleeding stopped and called his pediatrician. She said we could come in after nap if he was still snuffly. I tried to put him down he could not breathe through his nose so he couldn't nurse effectively. It was sad there was blots of crying. We headed out to the pediatrician, got sent that afternoon yo the pediatric ENT. Lots of "nasal trauma" and swelling but no breaks thank goodness! And that was the last time he nursed. It was hard, I felt ( still feel!) guilty about it, but he was weaned before my surgery. However I never recommend a broken nose as a method of weaning.
  3. I don't think you are crazy, I was the same. I tried a plethora of diets and work outs etc. Even if I did loose weight it wouldn't stay off with out assistance. You could look into self pay or Mexico self pay. Was this comment meant to be helpful? It mostly sounded like you were being an insensitive a** to me, especially since you have already had surgery.

    June 2013 Sleevers! "The List"

9 more days, single digit countdown!
  6. Having a drain removed feels a little like sliding a shoelace through your closed fist. It doesn't hurt. It is noticeable. Good luck :-)

    Just approved

Congratulations! I found that thinking about the "what if I don'ts" helps me when I am feeling fearful or anxious. What if I don't have this surgery then....I can't chase my kiddos....feel better physically (hip and back pain)....die early from a heart attack walking up the stairs. Morbid maybe, but it helps me. Good luck with your surgery

What to include in an ins appeal letter? HELP!

I also had my doctor write a note saying the phrase "excellent surgical candidate" and how long she had seen me as well as a weight history. In addition to my surgeons letter

What to include in an ins appeal letter? HELP!

I know when I wrote one it had every diet I had ever tried, how much I lost (if any) how long I had been over weight.

    hernia?

I would get it checked out. If your bowels push through the opening and twist you could be forced to have a section of bowel removed in emergency surgery, which would probably be more expensive than getting it taken care of in a non emergency situation. Not to mention less life threatening. I'm sorry this has happened at an inopportune time. I wish you the best of luck.

    pre ob question

I lost 6 on my 6 month and was still approved.
  16. I'm not afraid of not feeling full at first. Later on, with no way to adjust is what I worry about.
  17. I may be the only one that feels this way, but I loved my band. I lost 155lbs with it and kept it off for 14 months. Then it was removed in an emergency situation while I was pregnant with my DD. I was depressed over the loss, starving due to being unbanded, pregnant, then pregnant again, and gained every pound back. I am just hoping the sleeve works as well for me. I am afraid of not having restriction, or feeling full. Is any one else scared the sleeve won't work as well?
  18. I am glad to hear similar stories, I wish everyone luck. Even though I am scared I started my pre-op diet this morning. Wish me strength and health. Does any one know a band to sleever that has has restriction and weight loss long term after the sleeve? I would love to hear as success story :-)

    Why I'm doing this

When I sit on the floor with my very young ( 2 & 11mo)I think about how much it hurts my hips and back. I want to be able to be healthy for them, I want them to have a mom who can keep up.
  20. Congratulations! I hope to see thou on the June list soon :-)

    Naysayers

You are making the right choice for you. That's all he needs to know if he isn't going to be supportive. Having already had bariatric surgery, I can assure you it is not easy. Worth it? Yes. Easy? No.
