What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
Sarah.R replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly I wish I could give you all hugs, I can't believe the nerve of some people that are supposed to be supportive of you - more so mothers and grandmothers I noticed where the huge contenders for the biggest bitch title. As for me, I can still remember every year in primary school we would have sports day, and we'd have to do like tests or whatever to see who would be competing on the day - anyway they got us to run like 200m or so and I start running (I'm not a runner by the way) and next thing you know I hear all this laughter behind me, no child should have to deal with that ever - so needless to say I walked the rest of the way. Then in year 7 (after having chemo and a disease that caused scarring on my lungs so obviously I couldnt breathe as well) it was sports again, the teacher I had at the time just kept saying I was lethargic and some other word I can't remember and she just kept saying it and saying it, now every year they have fetes so if they still have them on after I've lost the weight I'm gonna go their and see what she's like - I mean who knows, I could actually sue her for discrimination - it's happened here in aus and it's definitely contributed to my weight gain -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
Sarah.R replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wtf? I dunno about anyone else but if that where me as I was leaving I would of either spit on him or given him a black eye for being such an ass -
Hey Bex, yeah chances are your not gonna find anyone on here that has had the sleeve, mainly cuz this is a lapband site, their is one called thinner times, you could maybe try that one out, as for percentage, I think it mainly depends on where you live, here in aus I think it's more people with the band where as in the states it's more people with the bypass. Good luck on the 8th

The reason your spouses dont want you to loose weight is exactly the reason they think they're going to loose you, they have known you the way you are and think that if you get slimmer, you'll be better looking (which obviously does happen) and that you won't be interested in them, I can't go from experience as I'm still in virgin territory lol, but if I had a partner I'd probably be talking to them about what will happen after, if they knew you before you were bigger and slim then maybe it won't be as bad

What's a good way to meet a guy? Do guys actually like bigger girls?
Sarah.R replied to Amethystjade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jade I totally know what you mean, you think that's bad? Try coming here to aus where the mindset of every guy is size 12, thin, good looking, I have absolutely no chance lol, but luckily their are websites for singles like us, ive tried bbwcupid.com but alot of the chicks are totally bitches on their, you post your email for guys to contact you(cuz you have to pay otherwise) and they get your account reported so you cant do anything and yet if their is a good looking guy on their and he has his email on their, they dont do crap, go figure, maybe we should start a weight loss surgery singles website, actually I would absolutely LOVE if someone started that, that would be the only thing i would be willing to pay for over the net lol -
I personally only have 2 friends that are overweight, well one isn't really a friend she's more an aquaintance but our families know each other lol - anyway, they're both basically the same size as me maybe even bigger although they delude themselves into thinking they're not. With the one that is my actual friend, I don't think I will tell her, I know she would be supportive but the fact is she has a big mouth and would probably tell people I don't want to know, with the other I definitely wouldn't tell her even if I was friends with her, she is so deluded into thinking she is one size that it really annoys me, here in aus our size like 20 is a size 18 their and she comes over most times and says "oh this dress i'm wearing is size 12 (size 10 their i guess) when in actuality she's a size 20, and the dress is one of those mesh ones where it can stretch to any size, she would be the kind to be pissed mainly because she can't have it or she just doesn't like others being happy, honestly if you think your friends can handle it then tell them, just say to them, if you want any information you can feel free to ask me about it, but if you don't feel comfortable with me talking about it then that's fine to, just let me know and i'll respect your wishes, or something along those lines. And if worse comes to worse - you can't choose your family but you can choose your friends!

What are they doing on The Biggest Loser to lose so quickly?
Sarah.R replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah the american biggest loser is the same as the aus one here, the fact that they don't have to go to work, look after children or have any other responsibilities and can work out all day every day so that they loose the weight, well no wonder they loose the huge amount, here in aus the only one that I have seen that has kept the weight off and everything is the guy that won the first season (think we're up to season 3 or 4 now) and he had plastic surgery and everything, and then you see the others that are now the spokespeople for the weight loss things like jenny craig, weight watchers etc. Also I dunno if any of you know this but I was told by my dietician and from everything I've encountered is true - those that do loose the weight on their own only about 3% will keep the weight off long term - and then the others gain it back, thats why i decided with the band, i didnt wanna be that 90%+ that was I lost 50 kgs and gained 100 back -
Weight/Height/Goal/Reason
Sarah.R replied to Sarah.R's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Tracie, yes I realise I need to address the "me" part in this whole thing, actually it wasn't even my decision to have the band, my pulmonolgist doctor said I should think about it and the next thing I knew I was seeing the doctor that does the band and his registrar lol. I've always wanted something like this before but it kind of put it in motion for me, as for the me factor, I honestly like the way I am now but I know that I'm going to look even better afterwards, I'll actually be able to walk up the stairs and not get out of breath - unless the meds I'm taking decide to screw up lol. I think from my perspective it's good because if I'm comfortable with my weight now I think it'll be easier but I dunno lol =( Maybe I need to see a pyschiatrist (sp?) lol -
Hospital ?s can you bring a pillow?
Sarah.R replied to Sooverit!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes you can bring a pillow, although you'll have to get a friend/relative tohold it while your in surgery. The blankets they give you are pretty warm/comfy so theirs really no need to bring your own. You can bring a book but chances are you won't be reading it, they want you to move around to help with the pain afterwards - which means walking, you probably won't get a chance to read anything Most people go home after a day - like they have surgery monday morning and go home tuesday morning, it's almost always day surgery so most only stay in a short time unless they get a hernia fixed or something -
A very STUPID Question!!
Sarah.R replied to tracie30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So basically a mini vomit then? cuz those suck and are nasty and I'm not even banded lol -
Highest weight? or weight at surgery?
Sarah.R replied to blackcherry2002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I kinda agree with niterun and don't yes if your taller it is distributed better but in my case I'm only 5'4 and I'm lucky that my weight is distributed more evenly than others - I'm 118-120kgs not sure if I've gained or what not but usually you would look at someone that weight and think "yeah she weighs more" but I'm lucky, I'd hate to be one of the people that only has it around my ass lol =( -
Binge Drinking = Bad. Really, really bad.
Sarah.R replied to MaxDrmmr's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah even I could of told you that 7-8 shots of rum post op is a bad idea lol -
Did you tell others about surgery?
Sarah.R replied to annecolorgreen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ahh momento I want to give you a hug, I agree with everything you said. Overweight women are definitely discriminated against and I know all too well about it. As for telling people, at the moment just my mum,dad and and aunt know and as well as almost all the doctors at the hospital I go to cuz I'm a specialty case. As for telling others I'll be telling my 2 sisters but I think thats it, my family wants me and the rest of mine to go to their house for xmas but that's around the time I might be getting my date so I can't really say "well I can't go cuz I'm having surgery" and if I do go then they'll be like "well sarah why aren't you eating?" but as for friends, I won't be telling them, some I know will definitely be supportive but others that aren't really friends I know will be complete bitches - especially one who I don't plan on telling and then shoving my weight loss in her face - harsh but she's done it to me since we've known each other so it doesn't fase me what so ever =) -
Honestly I can't really think of heaps, I'm not banded yet so I'll list the things I'm looking forward to or hate - I go to tafe - like college/uni and I have to catch the train, the thing that annoys me is having to basically squeeze myself next to others just to sit down but the thing that really gets me is when people smaller than me and they take up more room than me! It's just like wtf? I'm bigger than you give me more fricken room lol. Having people stare is annoying but more so when I say loudly to the person I'm with at the time "Don't you just hate when people stare at you for no reason, so f*cking rude" and then I stare at them and they keep staring - I mean seriously one of these days that person staring is gonna get a black eye

Pay for the band! Poll!
Sarah.R replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Um all up for me it was $100 each for the surgeons nurse and dietician, everything else is free cuz I'm going public -
Ahh ok cool, thanks =)

So I'm more than likely putting this in the wrong part but oh well, so my question is, what is the sweet spot? I've been on here for ages and read some bits about it but don't know for sure what it exactly is. Any help would be great
-
I've only ever seen one person on here from hawaii well you make two lol as for banding over bypass, I've heard alot of accounts of doctors preferring the bypass, I dunno why, overall it is preference, I think if people need to loose a huge amount of weight quickly for a certain reason definitely go with the bypass but if you want to loose slower, less saggy skin, no vomitting if you eat 20g or more of sugar lol then go for the band. As for me I haven't had the band yet but hopefully next month =) Good luck

See your all kind of lucky here in australia I'm pretty sure we don't have a card to use and even if we did I wouldn't use it, that and the fact that alot of places (97%) don't let you take the stuff away is a rip as well you pay for the food why can't you take it? Mainly it's because they don't wanna get sued, if you take something home and you don't reheat it properly and you get food poisoning or what not basically there liable which I see the point. As for the first post about the kids section, you should of just said "well, my family comes here alot as well as alot of my friends and there friends, so don't expect to have alot of business anymore as they are your clients and after i tell them that you have been rude, stuck up and just plain ignorant about my situtation I doubt they will be coming back, good luck staying manager much longer" I mean they should realise if they turn you away because of one little thing your gonna tell people and it will make them not want to go their either

I definitely agree, I was lucky in the fact that although I did have take away for dinner every now and then when I was younger my mum was home alot so we almost always had veges for dinner, now that I'm 20 my sisters are 23 and 16 we eat way healthier than ever, if we don't have veges for dinner one night it's salads, and if we dont have that its roast veges with hardly any oil, I guess I'm lucky in the fact that I got used to veges at a young age and liked them - now you compair it to other things like my cousin her son is 10 and he hardly eats but if she bribes him with being good at school and doing homework it's a bribe of maccas for Breakfast it's ridiculous
-
I dont gulp unless I'm really thirsty, like just got home from tafe, walked the ramp and got home and are seriously thirsty, sooo I dunno how I'm gonna be after the band hopefully not alot of discomfort

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
Sarah.R replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You know some of those stories are funny as but alot are horrible, I'm thankful that some of my family is pretty supportive, when I was little I'd tell my parents that people were bitching at me cuz I was fat adn tehy'd just say wait til they're older they won't really have a life (funnily enough they don't now) but the thing that gets me is my aunt, she's always been super nice and when I found out that I was officially getting the band only my mum and I knew (as well as the doctors) and we went to my cousins for a bbq and my mum needed someone to talk to even though I asked her not to tell anyone, anyway short story she told my aunt cuz she needed someone to talk to and I was waiting to get my food and she came up behind me and said "your beautiful now, but your going to be even more beautiful" so needless to say me being the softie or whatever that I am, burst out into tears lol, I dunno why but now I look back it was a really sweet thing, and then theirs my grandmother - I have a cousin who is the same age as me but way bigger and she goes on about me, it goes straight over my head because she has heaps of issues that half the family don't know about but it'll be nice to laugh in her face when I get the surgery and she doesn't have that as an excuse anymore -
Look Ma! No Port! (New "Easyband" Procedure for LapBand)
Sarah.R replied to Lauren448's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I guess the only thing you would be worried about is the battery dying and them having to open again to charge you up lol
