^Great for you:thumbup: I called the coordinator, and she said that in our neck of the woods, Aetna is not likely to approve the 3 month, it is better with the 6 month. So I go on, and get all my ducks in a row, but she did let me kow about the 2 year history, so that is great, they already have that. She scheduled me for my Steps to Success class for next month! So I am on my way! Congrats to everyone who has been approved!

For those with BMI 35-40?
polly522 replied to ronwifey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4'8" and get the same responses. You do not need this! I have struggled all my life. I have diabetes and have a family history or heart problems. The people you see everyday just think you do not have the willpower. My PCP's nurse keeps trying to talk me out of this. But this is a lifelong challenge for most people. I was not blessed with good genes, so I inhereted alot of co-morbidiites. So when I fianlly decided I needed to do this, and went to the info meeting, I also got alot of stares from people whom were much "larger" than myself. I have a neighbor who sneers at me, and says that I just need to go to the Gym and workout and control what I eat. She is taller and her "genes" are great! Her whole family has no weight problem, but when her and her sister decided to get "boobs" everyone cheered her on! Give me a break! Yes I have "boobs" my own thank you, that I would much not like to have! I just hope I loose those too along with the butt, hips thighs, and get off all the meds I take! -
Congrats to everyone that has gotten approved. I went to my Surgeon (2/12) visit, and they said I needed the 6 month diet. I told her that it had been changed to or, but she insisted that I do the 6 month. So my PCP put n the notes started in Jan so I still have 4 mos to go. I wonder if I call them again and let them know that the policy changed, I wounder if I could get by on the 3 month?

Thanks Meliss, that is so encouraging. I felt so bummed that I have to start all over again. I also have Aetna POSII, through my husbands work (Costco). My weight just seems to keep going up and up. What kind of diet did your dietician but you on? Is it easy to follow? P

Yes, I am just starting also. I went to my PCP a few days ago to find out what documentation they had, come to find out that the 6 month diet I was on will not count, because the nurse did not put in my weights (last year). So I guess I will have to start over. I talked with my coordinator and she said I may be able to do the 3 month thing with Aetna, cause it is an or. She said most people just do the 6 month cause they do not want so much in 3 months. I will do whatever it takes! My PCP just informed me that my choleserol is way high, but said nothing else! He is so not pro-active about this, I just might have to switch PCP's. Will that effect what I am trying to do?

I have an appointment with my doc on Monday 1/21. Here in NV we have to go to an info meeting 2/12, then get scheduled with a bariatric coordinator after that. Do I need to get ahold of my GYN and have them get me the paperwork on my diabetes and weights? Is there a form they are to fill out? Is there a form I can use, or tell them to use? Thanks for your help.

I am new here and have been reading all day! I have a few questions: I am 47F BMI 39.7. The doctor last year (6/07 put me on South Beach Diet, due to being diagnosed with Diabetes. I have had gestational Diabetes 7 to 10 years ago, with both my kids. The only reason I found out is because I requested to have full blood workup in June done. I have had thryoid disorder for the last 8 years, and knew something was wrong (sibs have diabetes), so that is why I requested the test. My BMI has been up and down 35-40 for the last 7 years. Will Aetna count the diet he put me on last year, or do I need to do it all over again? I am about 100 lbs overweight. Is Aetna going to deny me also? My doc recomended this last year, but was really scared, went on the diet, and lost 30, but have gained it right back plus some! I live in Nevada and need to find a good surgeon.
