LMAO! That sounds awful! My sense of smell is pretty sensitive so this is good to know! I can't stand the smell of my B-100 vitamin and honestly couldn't begin to tell you what it equates with. Forget taking it with plain water too, ick. Thanks for the info! -

Mind you, I'm just as green at reading this as you, BUT it does say: Seems like the water loading procedure is only for someone to start once they begin feeling the hunger pangs return to help create a sense of fullness. Under "Necessity for Longterm Followup" it says "trying to practice the rules of the pouch 6-12 months out is a waste" because the process is meant to help delay hunger. And you have to be slowly "watering" your pouch at least 3 hours before a full water load otherwise it won't work....this is SO weird! LOL -

Yes! I was just about to post about never hearing about "water loading". This is truly interesting information. You really get the idea about how to use the surgery as a "tool" vs. just living with it and following "the rules". Knowing the "why" behind the rules is the most valuable thing I think I have read to date. -

The more I read, the bigger my eyes get! LOL I'm pre-op, as most of ya'll already know, but ALL of this info is new news to me. I haven't read 90% of this stuff anywhere and boy does it feel valuable! I'm curious to hear feedback from the veterans. -

Here's the whole slew of things I'm taking pre-op and supposed to continue post-op (aside the biotin/collage - that's my choice). So far I feel like a million bucks just after a few days! : - Multivitamin capsule (BariatricPal 1xday) - B-100 Complex (NOW brand 1xday) - Vitamin D3 (Zahler brand - 3000iu 1xday) - Calcium Chewy Bites (Bariatric Advantage 3xday) - Biotin (Sports Research 10,000mcg 1xday) - Collagen Peptides (Sports Research 1 packet daily - taken this for 4 months already, makes my hair and nails grow super fast) - 50 billion Probiotic (Renew Life Extra Care) - B12 chewable (Radiance Platinum 5,000mcg) -

So the ProCare chewables don't taste like a$$? I'm taking note of all the ones people are noting as most palatable. Here's the list of acceptable multivites given to me by my RD. Currently, I'm taking BariatricPal one-a-day during pre-op, but will have to switch to chewables post-op. I prefer to stick to the higher iron if I can tolerate it because it helps in preventing hair loss and also the lesser # of pills per day is ideal. I know all this has the potential to change laster, but I like hearing ya'lls opinions -

Dietician Stuff...help me not be a jerk...
๐ บ๐ ธ๐ ผ๐ ผ๐ ธ๐ ด๐ บ posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So I've arranged my first dietician consult, which is interestingly done remotely via WebEx video conference (not relevant to this post, but just interesting). Any who...I was given a lengthy PDF packet to read through regarding general nutrition and as I read it, I find I don't agree with some of the information. I've been living relatively strict keto, High Fat/Moderate Protein/Low Carb for nearly 2 years and I'm afraid I'm going to get into this consult and butt heads with the poor person. Not on purpose, but I really don't want to change the way I eat because I know what happens when I eat the stuff that is considered OK. I get bloated, I gain weight, my face gets puffy, my feet get swollen...etc. My body likes keto and most "health professionals" aren't on that bandwagon. Any words of advice from anyone that's gone through their diet consults would be awesome. I know the best thing is to just smile and nod, but I know this girl is going to want active participation. -

Thatโs good to hear. Itโs taken so much work to change my mindset from โeat all the thingsโ to keto. If all I need to do is dial back my fat, I should be good. -

Yep! I shouldโve specified so I edited my post to include RNY. My surgeon said reflux is rampant with sleeve patients and the #1 reason folks come to him for revisions to RNY. Some people just canโt get a handle on it ๐ฅ I hope you can get some relief. -
Halfway to surgery

Yay! I also started taking 10,000mcg biotin (Sports Research brand - same as the collagen). They apparently work together. The pill is TINY, about the size of a D3 capsule. Dude, Iโm loading up now because I want to know I did everything I can to prevent hair loss, brittle nails and saggy skin. Hereโs the Amazon link...Biotin (10,000mcg) with Organic Coconut Oil | Supports Healthy Hair, Skin & Nails | Non-GMO Verified & Vegan Certified (120 Veggie-Softgels) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00T56FQAE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iA1oCb8WFT36C -

When and How Much Vitamin D3?
๐ บ๐ ธ๐ ผ๐ ผ๐ ธ๐ ด๐ บ posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm pre-op but going ahead with taking my vites to get into the habit. I know D3 helps absorption of calcium. I already have a bottle of D3 5000iu because I was told to take that dose last year after low amounts on bloodwork. My question is...Since my D3 is such a high dose, if I take the D3 in the morning once and my calcium 3 times a day, will I still have enough D3 in my system to support that last evening calcium dose? Or should I get another bottle of D3 in smaller doses to take each time I take the calcium? -
When and How Much Vitamin D3?
๐ บ๐ ธ๐ ผ๐ ผ๐ ธ๐ ด๐ บ replied to ๐ บ๐ ธ๐ ผ๐ ผ๐ ธ๐ ด๐ บ's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Yep! I was JUST reading about fat soluble and water soluble vitamins! It makes a ton of sense now. Iโve always had low vitamin D because I hate going outside. My job is indoors and we practically work in the dark because were a bunch of introverted nerds who should probably just live in caves LOL For now, Iโve settled on 3,000iu of D3 in the morning with my other meds and taking the calcium chews alone during the day since they already have D3 ๐๐ผ I have labs in a couple months so if I need more, we can adjust it then. -

Thatโs awesome โค๏ธ my dieticianโs full-time job is working with folks that have had major complications after WLS. Sheโs definitely a diamond in the rough. Very sweet, helpful and knowledgeable. Even though we only meet once a month we actually email and text frequently. She told me I have unlimited coverage for our visits pre-op and post-op with my new insurance which Iโm so thankful for BUT I told her to brace herself because Iโm a question-asking machine. She may want to kill me before my 6 months are over! LOLOLOL
