Best way to introduce eggs into the diet

Either soft boil or scramble and prepare it without oil (or cheese etc.) first.

    Anyone try bananas? When?

We were allowed to eat bananas after four weeks (when all fruit and vegetables were ok to eat). Haven't had a problem with them.
  3. There must also be a reason why some professionals obviously think it's bollocks.
  4. Carbonation is supposed to have enough power to build up the pressure that's necessary to stretch a pouch permanently? What happened to burping exactly? You have a carbonated drink or a beer - you burp. That's it.

    Paleo diet vs vegan

SCNR, that's why I gave the answer above. Of course just saying "I'd do this or that" without giving a reason why is not something I usually do. I agree with this. Both the paleo and the vegan diet have not really something to do with weight loss, especially not the vegan diet. Often people seem to use them for weight loss, more or less successful. I personally think that WLS is the opportunity to get rid of all the fad diets and their suffocating rules, and yes - IMO this includes all this low-carb and/or low-fat hype and all of these low-cal artificial foods as well. (Do I call the vegan diet a "fad diet"? Yes, I do when it comes to using it as a weight loss diet.)

    Paleo diet vs vegan

Nope, given only the two options I'd go vegan.

Calling all vets- where are you

Truth be told: most or the threads are not interesting anymore once you're a while out. The plastic surgery threads are only interesting for those living in the US, not e. g. European countries. As for "vet advice": I've become quite a cynic about that.
  8. Even though the concept of "normal eating" seems to be not really popular on here: if you want to learn about "hunger": books about normal eating deal a lot with this issue.
  9. I think it's even harder to manage. I guess you're talking about these neon signs popping up again and again in your mind that don't tend to calm down on their own until you have eaten that certain food (had that drink, had that cigarette, had whatever).
  10. I hated it, too. These compliments always somehow smacked of "you weren't good enough before your weight loss".

    Any vegetarians or vegans?

Check out the vegan online stores for multivitamins and compare the amount of vitamins and minerals in them with the recommended products. That should be working fine. I was lucky that the nutritionists at the hospital also recommended a product that is (most likely accidentally) vegan.

    People Don't Get It

Maybe because too many patients are keeping their WLS a secret and are telling people about "all the hard work and good dietary habits" that brought their weight down? If more people would be completely honest about how the surgery was the big game changer instead of talking about it "being only a tool" and it's "still incredibly hard work", the general population would be more informed. Sometimes I think WLS is still be seen as this "dirty, little secret" that has to be hidden in the back of the closet.

    Seriously???

Why do you care about the opinion of other people on your weight loss or visible weight loss at all? You're not doing it for "the other people". Btw, I wouldn't comment on another person's weight change myself. After all you never know why someone lost or gained weight. Imagine someone going through major illness and people have nothing more to do than to comment on this "great weight loss". Ouch.

    Clothing Sizes

Anyone else has the impression that the actual size of clothes changed over the time of years? I can remember when about 20 years ago I wore a size M - about 40 or 42 EU size. Well, I now wear that size again since a whole while, even though I still weigh about 7 kg more than I was back then. I have the impression that the same size now means a bigger dress. Anyone else?
  15. I couldn't really find something on here so far. Anyone with an MGB or RNY taking Robaxin (Ortoton/Methocarbamol)? I got some since the tensed muscles around my right shoulder are killing me. Any experienced users?
  16. Me neither. But even if there are patients who are doing this: it's none of my business and I don't understand why it seems to be someone else's. Goals also change with time and experience in every aspect of life.
  17. Try to see the positive. At least the boards are not plastered with motivational pictures - yet.
  18. Life happens and WLS gets old. Also take a look at the responses some vets get/got when giving advice (or the lack of a response) and you know why many of them are not so eager to give advice. (lets not talk about this so-called tough love now, please)
  19. Even that is not true.
  20. I've said what I have to say now though, lol.
  21. Yeah, come on say it!!!! The weight loss does come easier than ever! (not sure why some people seem to have such a hard time to admit it)
  22. If this BMI of 24.9 is the goal of your life right now and you're willing to put boatloads of effort into it (maybe you're lucky and you don't even have to ) then by all means do it. In the end I (or any other user on this board) couldn't care less. It's your choice and the people that feel the impact of your choices are you and the people close to you, not some random board user.
  23. I'm not sure if there might be a misunderstanding here? Cost/benefit calculation is not about short term inconvenience (at least not for me) or choosing always the easiest paths. On the contrary you might e. g. invest a lot of time and energy or money to pass certain exams or get special education etc. because you see a long term cost/benefit calculation that seems to be very attractive to you and your goals in life. Your cost/benefit calculations might vary a great deal from mine which will maybe vary a great deal from that of other people. Cost/benefit is different for everyone because people have very different goals in life. This is why I sometimes have to shake my head in disbelief because a lot of people still hold this weird opinion that only a 100% success is a "real" success. They know how it feels to completely run yourself down into the ground with these so-called "healthy and sensible choices" 100% of the time and still they do the same after WLS, all the while expecting a different outcome this time.
  24. Because you might need to invest a lot of energy into these last few lbs instead of using that energy for other goals in life. I'm thinking about this 80% 20% rule of thumb here. If you don't need to invest a lot of energy into the lower weight goal it will come anyway. No need to stop weight loss on purpose! But I think one has to look careful at things when "these last few lbs" would require a lot of investment in time and energy. Yes, I would sit back if the cost/benefit ratio wouldn't seem to be in my favor. However, this is a general attitude of mine. The cost/benefit ratio has to be in my favor, e. g. I wouldn't take on a job I don't like just to make more money. Of course more money would be fine but I make decent money to afford the little luxuries of everyday life and having a job I like surrounded by people I like in general is more important to me than making more money. IMO this doesn't have something to do with not telling myself the truth though. On the contrary I think analyzing your situation on a cost/benefit is far from lying to yourself. "Little treats" are part of fun in life, whether these little treats are food, buying a book without thinking about the bucks you're spending on it, treating yourself to your favorite video stream without fretting about the monthly fee or sitting on your porch on a mild summer evening instead of doing the laundry.
  25. Don't worry. I think "vanity" is an additional reason for a lot of WLS patients. However, we're not really allowed to admit it (think: insurance coverage). I think this isn't true. Lots of people who've lost weight swore the same and it didn't work out this way though I know it's very tempting to think like this. There seems to be a lot of logic behind it so I'm actually kind of surprised it doesn't work this way exactly a lot of the times (WLS or not WLS) though there seems to be evidence that having plastics means higher chance of maintaining (maybe think: empty fat cells being cut off here).
