  1. Doesn't have to be this way. I'm not particularly cold. Seems to be a highly individual thing.

    Im so angry

Most likely both would end up resentful.
  3. http://bariatrictimes.com/talking-to-patients-about-expectations-for-outcome-after-bariatric-surgery/ Interesting read.
  4. Interesting thought. Could very well be. However, a lot of people seem to have very unrealistic beliefs/expectations/etc. about diet, food, weight loss etc. even though they seem to be standing with both feet on their ground in other areas of life. Sometimes it seems that some part of the brain just shuts down when it comes to the topic of "weight".
  5. Absolutely. It's also annoying on WLS boards as well. 😂

    Intermittent fasting

What's your reason for doing IF?

    Craving Beans??

Beans are healthy and good for you. Take your chance and make them a staple in your diet.
  8. Usually the normal body weight is used for that calculation. However, there are very different opinions on how much protein is needed.
  9. 100 g sounds a bit much anyway if you're getting VSG or RNY/MGB. What WLS procedure are you going to get?
  10. Me, too. As if there wasn't any other nutrient out there... If you can get a different nutritionist that caters to your needs and wishes. It's important to feel comfortable with the diet you're eating and that means more than "losing and maintaining this weight on the diet". There are several veg-threads on this board. You might want to check them out as well.
  11. Might have resulted in a very different personality. I sometimes wonder what kind of a person I would've been. (Well, not too often as thinking about this is somehow quite depressing.)
  12. So if there are no cravings regarding sugar and junk food as long as one doesn't eat it - why start eating it at all? If there is no craving for it, there is no reason for eating it. (Could it be that there are still cravings for it even though being "abstinent"?)
  13. What does your surgeon say? If you get a fill and don't notice any difference... the band may be damaged.

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

"Protein cookie" contains the word "cookie". And cookies are evil by definition of the bariatric community.
  15. Did your treatment team ever talk about rigid vs. flexible control when it comes to eating behavior?
  16. Who isn't? I know quite a few stress eaters and quite a few of them have a fairly normal weight. I think it's quite odd that so many WLS patients think they have to be "that perfect eater" who "eats for fuel only". (IMO that type of eater doesn't exist at all.)
  17. This. And I'm honestly surprised (again and again) that an eating disorder and/or stress eating or whatever eating has to be ruled out because... well... if all of these things weren't a problem: how did the weight came on after all? I somehow doubt that the majority of people that qualify for WLS is on a drug regime that caused a 100 lbs+ weight gain and the prolonged maintenance of that weight gain.

Calling all vets- where are you

Best to keep though in mind that vets who weren't able to keep the weight off don't tend to hang around WLS boards, let alone post a lot.
  19. That's what I don't understand as well.

    No pizza for 4-5 months???

Most people do good on strict diets as long as the rewards are rolling in big (i. e. fast weight loss). Most people don't do good on strict diets as soon as the rewards stop rolling in big (i. e. the fast weight loss stops).

    12 years post-op and I'm lost

IF is an attractive lifestyle thing for especially singles/people living alone. Lets sleep 30 min longer and skip breakfast. Can't get any easier.
  22. Definitely no standards at all. In the end you'll have to find out what works best long term for you.

Numbness in Outer Right Thigh After Surgery

Does it still bother you? Peripheral nerve damage is possible. It will resolve but it takes some time, like several weeks.
