    Read the ingredient lists of these foods. I wouldn't eat this stuff too often myself. I also wouldn't feed this stuff to kids.

    This. Treatment teams don't need to put additional pressure on their patients when it comes to post-op goals. Patients put enough pressure on themselves already.

    Why is this so surprising? The calorie count of the items you listed is by far not enough to have a big impact on a whole week's deficit if the deficits is really aggressive (and it usually is on this board), let alone cancel it out.

    Dealing with regain

    I think weight gain because of medication is something different than "the usual" regain so even if there were more veterans talking about this issue it might very well be that it's not helping you. However, maybe there are some veterans on this board who need to take similar meds and still maintain? Is there a chance that your meds can be reduced again in the future? There seem to be different strategies. I notice that several veterans talk about how they maintain their weight. It can usually be found in the threads about regain.

    If you're running with a mid foot strike with 180 steps per minute at your "niko niko pace" chances are you're doing slow jogging.

    You can use real sugar, of course (if you don't dump on it). Most users on here don't want to use it though.

  12. "Satisfaction" is something maybe everyone has a different definition for and I admit I have a hard time to describe what this "satisfaction" feels like. I think for me it's the feeling that after a meal I don't want to eat any more right now. There is a feeling of "full" and -this is very important for me - I ate something I actually like to eat and/or wanted to eat at this moment.
  13. Please ditch the thought that you "failed your WLS" immediately. WLS is not a person you can disappoint.

    Where am I going wrong?

    People have different opinions and experiences. My opinion is that strict diets are the sure-fire way to burnout and regain in the long run. Of course there always will be people who thrive on restrictive diets just like there are people who lose a lot of weight and maintain it without WLS. I'm not the "eat junk food in moderation every day and lose weight" type of eater but I'm definitely eating stuff that many users on here label outright as "evil" daily. I have to consider some food intolerances though. I really strongly believe that the diet has to fit the individual. I also believe in the principle of "best weight possible" and that also some luck is involved when it comes to the outcome of WLS (e. g. some people don't experience intense feelings of hunger, some do and it seems to be quite random which group you will belong to). However, "luck" is a word most patients don't like to hear when it comes to WLS and that's completely understandable IMO. It raises the fear in some patients ("OMG, will I be one of the lucky ones?!") and other patients are reacting flat-out pissed ("WHAAAAT??? You're suggesting I was just lucky?! This is just all MY hard work!") whenever someone mentions "luck".

    I'm sorry that this seems to burst a few bubbles in some users time and time again but these people are just realistic. It's their experience, it's what the studies say and that's just that and patients should be prepared for exactly this outcome. Of course there are people who reach a normal weight and maintain it but there are also people who gain back everything. And there are most likely many more people who prove them right every time they come to follow up appointments.
  17. What definitely messed up my digestion system was the catering and restaurant food I ate during the last three days. 😂
  18. The 16/8 window is the only one really doable (longterm) for me as going to lunch with my colleagues is important for me and I want to eat in the evening as well after exercising. My fasting/eating windows are not constant though. Sometimes the fasting window is longer when I'm on the late shift and start working at noon because I don't go to lunch then. That's about one time a week on average. When I'm on 24 h shift (about 3-4 times a month) I don't really have a fasting window or fix meals.

    WLS boards are the big and mighty mothers of competitive behavior when it comes to weight loss, restrictive eating and exercise.
  21. Definitely in the time before noon. Interesting side note: it actually makes me feel a little bit queasy in the stomach when eating before noon since a while. I wonder if that is a mental or a biochemical thing.

  24. The facts are we don't even know how much calories he is eating and neither does he because so far he didn't track his food properly for at least a short period of time (at least it seems like he didn't do that).
