  1. Oh wow, now finally someone "explains" obesity and enlightens the masses! WOOHOOO!!!! Well, a few too many claimed to have "it all sorted out" and "being able to provide a solution to the crisis" in the past. I wonder what the big hype will be 5 years from now. 🙄
  2. I think this is good advice. We're living in a environment that provides food in excess and everyone has to find a sustainable way to deal with this. Preferably a way that doesn't end in some kind of insanity.

    feeling cold..

Damn, I feel hot these days, LOL! Heat wave in Germany. It's most likely the not-eating that makes one feel cold, the body producing less heat to save energy. Later the loss of insulation is a factor, too, but the calorie restriction seems to be the culprit for feeling cold. Ask anyone who's fasting, no matter the weight.

    Back Pain

Being young enough for fusion means you're going to have one or two segments fused and a year or two later the segment above or below (usually above as it seems) has decompensated and you'll need another segment fused and if you're still young enough a few years later some more segments... And many patients still have pain after fusion. Spine surgery seems to be a real royal b***h.

    Food Before and After Photos

Seems to be a bit controversial. Where I had surgery patients are cleared for coffee and real tea after four weeks are over (finally real coffee again after 28 days). Before that no real coffee, decaffeinated or not, and no tea. However, this really wasn't about the caffeine but about that the above said beverages can irritate the stomach.

I'm always curious about these "specific reasons" though.
  7. It depends on the powder, if it's still unopened or not and how it was stored (cool place, warmer place). I consumed plant based protein powders that were some months over the expiration date and they tasted just fine. However, I also had a plant based protein powder that wasn't even over the expiration date but open for quite a while and it was not really powdery anymore. So if in doubt, throw it out.

Cacao nibs might be a nice addition but I don't have them in the pantry right now.

Mix the following... ... and get something greenish, disgusting looking but good tasting food. Guess I'll eat this with banana and kiwi fruit.

    Grilled cheese alternative?

I find this is the same with all substitutes for anything I've ever tried in my life. They're either good so you eat so much of it that it doesn't make a real dent compared to eating the real thing or they taste just horrible and aren't worth eating and/or not working for satisfying the cravings. The only substitute that has ever worked for me was sweetener as a substitute for sugar.
  11. I've watched Dr. Now on this 600 lbs stuff - had to close the tab in my browser after a few minutes only. Couldn't stand this guy.

😞 That's bad. Are you considering the recommended revision?
  13. Sounded so much like an ultimatum that I assumed it was by some correction officer that threatened her with having to go straight to WLS boot camp if she doesn't get "back on track" in time.

Bummer! Cutting out dairy was a game changer for me regarding reflux symptoms. Have you tried cutting out the harder-to-digest fats already?

I definitely need to try it. This liquid stevia lemon - is that some kind of flavor drop? I'd guess it could work well with the skyr style Alpro since it's thick and also creamy enough once stirred. Maybe I'll give it a try with matcha and lime and a sweetener. I planned on ordering tea anyway. I think my favorite tea online shop has matcha powder as well.

    Truly accurate nutritional tracking app?

Have you tried it already? I personally think it's the best out there since years and they're still getting better. I personally haven't tracked in a whole while though but it was very helpful in terms of getting all your micronutrients in.

How do you prepare this? I might try it with the Alpro substitute.

Oh, did you yourself have the impression that it changed something in your GERD when you didn't eat dairy? I guess not if you're back to eating yoghurt again. GERD triggers can be hard to find.

Sad news if you like to drink

They also talk about "abuse". Whatever that means in terms of alcohol. Is a glass of wine or two on weekends now and then "abuse"? Then there is also the big difference between lethal acute intoxication and chronic damage (same with drugs). Personally I'm more worried about accidental drug overdoses. What comes to my mind is e. g. paracetamol. OTC, especially for WLS patients a go-to for headaches and it metabolizes via the liver.

    Truly accurate nutritional tracking app?

The focus of CRON-O-Meter is not really on calories. You can track and look at tons of nutrients, this includes of course the basic macro information as well. You can customize a lot of what nutrients you want to see in the diary, e. g. if you want to look at how much tryptophan you're getting you can choose to make that nutrient visible on the diary. If you don't want to look at a certain nutrient because you're not interested in it you can choose that nutrient not to be displayed.
  23. Yes, including quite a lot of people on this website.
  24. Using food to socialize is a human thing to do since thousands of years. Everyone can feel free to break with this tradition of course but don't expect many people in your environment to follow you.
