People change behaviors/taste/sometimes showing other personality traits with major weight changes and basically with any other major change in life (e. g. entering/leaving the working crowd). You changing is something your partner has to cope with. Chances are high that you're indeed behaving differently and changes can be hard to come to terms with for family and friends. There is always more than one person involved. The one who changes and the one who has to cope with this change. Without making compromises things won't work out. Don't want to make compromises and expect 100% compliance with your decisions and changes from your spouses and friends without even thinking about their needs? Well, good luck...

Anyone end up with a normal BMI after weightless surgery?
summerset replied to Ninja-slash-nerd's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I started at 46 and I'm at a normal weight. -
Not Running to Food for Coping
summerset replied to StrongButterfly's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
First of all: you will be able to turn to food for comfort and that can be a huge problem. Many users on here will describe this as "going back to old habits". It seems to be a common assumption that one won't be able to turn to food for comfort. Sure, you won't be able to binge on three pizzas in a whole sitting (if you ever did) but you can still use food to regulate emotions. To an extend, that's something all people do, regardless of their weight, but not all of them use so much food that they gain weight or get overweight/obese. I personally made the experience during the years that "distraction" usually didn't do a real thing for me. It can help, yes, but it usually only postponed emotional eating in the past. The simplest way to deal with wanting to eat food to regulate emotions is... not eating. First it feels like you absolutely must eat something now and it has to be food xyz! and to sit through this can be hard to bear during the beginning. However, once certain parts of your brain have learnt that you don't have to eat this or that right now! to cope with whatever emotion it's the method that causes the least hassle since it doesn't depend on where you are and what kind of distraction is available right now. I also made the experience that this "simply not eating" got easier with time. I attribute this both to a learning process and to having reached a desired weight. There is no foolproof method. You have to try what works best for you. Best of all seems to be to have more than one card to play just in case. -
Like the 10% regain many talk about or like quite a lot? Anyway, you will for sure find both groups on the boards.

Does anyone eat Protein bars instead of protein drink?
summerset replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Many users on here do see an issue with 22 g of carbohydrates or an even less amount and I personally think of this as kind of disturbing. -
Does anyone eat Protein bars instead of protein drink?
summerset replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You won't find a protein bar that's comparable to the almost-protein-only drinks. Not even the most shitty-tasting bars have comparable nutritional values. It depends on how much fat and carbohydrates you're willing to accept as an addition to the bars and of course on personal taste if you're going to find a good or at least decent tasting bar. The bars I eat occasionally would be ripped apart by the bariatric food police anyway so I'm not even trying to recommend them, lol. -
Does anyone have a good hot Chocolate recipe??
summerset replied to Lynda486's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
What kind of recipe are you looking for? As low cal as possible? High protein? A more decadent treat? Substitutes included or not? -
In Germany gin seems to be the latest hype.

I recently tasted different new vinegars at the small shop I sometimes buy wine, pesto and well - vinegar. It never occurred to me to taste pure vinegars before on a little spoon.

SCNR taking a picture of the contents of my shopping cart. It's a bad angle because I felt like a weird creep taking a photo of the food and tried not to be that obvious. 😂
-
I can see clearly now that some people have their own definition of "adventure shopping". 🤣
-
Is that even allowed? lol

That's male-teenagers-throwing-a-LAN-party cart.

carbonated drinks?

That's the most sensible explanation I've heard on this subject so far. -
Weight loss and gain
summerset replied to Dawnsiman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No. Why should I? It's still statistics and a person is not number 1.256 in some study someone conducted but always an individual in the end. So if daily weighing drives one crazy, raises anxiety and obsessive behavior, it might be the more sensible decision to abstain from daily weighing as long as they're satisfied with the results. -
Weight loss and gain
summerset replied to Dawnsiman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Statistics. If people are driving themselves crazy with daily weighing that's not the thing to do for them. As long as the weight is going into the right direction there is no need for this kind of obsession. -
Struggling with food cravings
summerset replied to mediocreoblongata's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Since you're only 3.5 weeks out I guess you're on a pretty low calorie diet? Maybe not even on food you can chew on? If you're not one of the people who've lost hunger and/or appetite it's quite normal to think about food all the time when on a low calorie diet (or any diet, lol). Advice? If you don't want to act on your urges, don't act on them. Part of your brain might tell you, that you absolutely have to act on these cravings but you don't have to. -
Just had my 6 week follow up and told I need to eat more
summerset replied to Panda333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WLS has quite a lot of interesting effects not only on the body but also on the mind. One of them seems to be losing perspective on what constitutes "a high calorie diet". *shrug* -
This. I always hated when people commented on my weight loss in a way that made me feel like I was somehow less worth as a fat person.

I’m not losing weight anymore!
summerset replied to jbasspromotions@gmail.com's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Seems to depend more on the person than on the type of WLS. Also one has to differentiate between "hunger" and "appetite". -

Diabetic for over 20 years, BMI just under 31.
summerset replied to Sueykins69's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Gastric bypass is done as metabolic surgery on patients with hard to treat T2 diabetes, even with a BMI that is relatively low. You might want to gather information specifically about gastric bypass as metabolic surgery and not so much as bariatric surgery. -
Depends on how much detail you want. MyFitnessPal seems to be quite popular. I personally prefer CRON-O-meter.

You could always go lower with intake then and/or up your exercise when you notice that weight loss has stopped. However, it's always the choice of the patient which route to take (slow/steady or fast/over with it) though I sometimes think that it's not really a choice but the patient needs to choose what he/she can live best with.
