Discouraged and need advice
summerset replied to Seimmaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, it's like going to an AA meeting, seeking support and feeling completely out of place because a lot of people there are struggling with abstinence, yet the possibility that controlled drinking could actually be an alternative is denied with the strongest passion while everyone there is shouting at each other "TRY HARDER!!!!!1" without getting anywhere long term in the end. -
Discouraged and need advice
summerset replied to Seimmaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you're right. Sorry, threads like this make me royally pissed sometimes. True as well. The problem is: what's questionable or not is too often in the eyes of the beholder. That personal point of view is shaped by your own experiences, current trends/hypes and numerous other things. Some years ago people were all over the place with "low fat" and scolded others when they dared to admit to eating fatty foods. Today people are scolded when they're eating "carbs". I never counted calories or carbs, my diet is absolute **** by BP standards, my exercise level dropped significantly (luckily so did my appetite though) because of several injuries first and then second due to a significant increase in workload and yet my BMI is 23.something, so I absolutely can't relate to the eat-as-little-as-possible-and-protein-only-while-moving-as-much-as-possible crowd. So that's the bubble I am in and this is also what's shaping my opinion on certain things. Yes, I know people want to "get it over with" as soon as possible (even though one of the other BP mantras is "it's a marathon not a sprint) but I have serious doubts that people do themselves any good by crash dieting after WLS. There are too many people struggling less than a year out already to not question this approach at least once in a while. And yes, I think I should stay out of threads like these because what I have to say (as one of the precious "vets" people always want advice from, mind you, lol) is not what people want to hear anyway. *shrug* -

There are also some very loud-mouthed and self-righteous n00bs on here who think they have it all figured out a few weeks or months post-op. True. And I'm not going to sugar coat the fact that it's unreasonable to deal out the usual standard advice fueled by anticarb-hysteria before having gathered any information at all. Since two of the mantras of BP are "follow your plan" and "listen to your team/nut" this is kind of understandable. -
How do you know if you stretched your sleeve
summerset replied to Fancy Face 2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's not very likely that you "stretched" your sleeve. You got used to bigger portions by "training" so to say. Once you start eating smaller amounts again your body gets used to the smaller portions again. You might want to check out Dr. Weiner's video on growing portion sizes with time and that sleeves usually don't stretch. Or at least not that easy. -

I count at least two people on this thread who seem to like it. -
There were definitely time spans like this, yes. However, I always attributed it to being stressed and tired from work.

Also respectfully, if you're not going over your TDEE a day even though you're consuming sugary drinks, you're still going to lose weight. 300 kcal of sugary drink + 500 kcal of solid food = still no more than 800 kcal - > weight loss Simple equation. Shouldn't be that hard to comprehend. Twinkie diet anyone? -
Discouraged and need advice

I know getting a proper diagnosis before recommending a therapy is not exactly en vogue on here a lot of the time when it comes to "not losing weight fast enough" but anyway: - starting weight/BMI? - age/gender/height? - total amount of calories per day? - activity level? -
Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

You could get e. g. the Zero app (for zero money 😁). It has a timer and basic information. -
There are plenty of YT videos on this stuff. Maybe you want to take a look first so you don't make things worse with stretching? Foam rolling also helps a great deal! Also "Voodoo Flossing".

Food Before and After Photos

Mung bean & edamame fettuccine with baby seal pate tomato/olive pesto/vegetable sauce and vegan parmesan. Looks absolutely gross on the picture but tastes great. -
The winter boots of cause have a thermal sole in it so the feeling of "walking barefoot" is not as extreme as it is e. g. with their ballerinas. However, when you have (chronic?) plantar fasciitis you'd have to build up slowly. Quite a few people got rid of foot problems when they switched to barefoot walking (or so they claim, hopefully it's not only a marketing lie) but you'd have to strengthen and stretch both the foot and the calves. Anyway I switched to barefoot/0 mm heel drop during my last year of med school during internship when I had to attend ward rounds and noticed often an aching lower back and/or knees and/or feet as time went on when on ward rounds. Pain went away and is gone since then.

I love them, but "comfortable" is something completely subjective. They have very thin soles so you have to be comfortable with walking barefoot.

A Desigual delivery arrived just today and brand new Vivobarefoots. 😁

Maybe women can also be MATADORs.

Did you microwave it?
-
My husband ordered a box of mixed quest bars like two years ago or so. He found at least some of them palatable (but he didn't use the word "delicious" and didn't order them again, lol). I thought they all tasted vile, like being artificial sweetener only, even though I tried the microwave trick.
-
There is a simple rule when it comes to a protein bar: if it's delicious it can't be protein only, lol.

You should see me in full gear, lol.

Did anyone succeed in friends and neighbors not finding out..
summerset replied to newchange16's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, if your neighbors are a bit stupid... it might work, lol. -
Ok, so you've avoided bread for quite a bit of time even though you obviously like it and now you're wondering why you're craving bread like crazy. Now that makes me wonder...

Hmmmmm, they look good. -
I have truckloads of these tube shaped things you can either wear as a scarf, a cap or as some kind of headscarf.

Maybe I should add that this is a no-bake thing. Just shape into balls, refrigerate for a while and coat with the chocolate. If you're looking for peanut butter cups (like in Reese's?) you'll be majorly disappointed. They taste good but like dense and gooey cake bites.
