Tolerated everything so far. Black coffee. Pumpernickel with lentil spread and nut butter. Protein bar. Sushi. Yum! However, my restriction is higher at the moment. Feels weird to have that again. Prepared food for tomorrow. Pumpernickel with an onion spread, a sweet nut spread and smoked tofu with mustard. Protein shake and a pear. Protein bar just in case. Some cashews. A colleague told me the salad bar is closed now. Bummer I haven't stocked up on some vegetables one can eats raw just fine. My husband will bring some on Saturday when he comes over for the weekend though. -

I'd recommend maybe not eating it on its own. Maybe it's too heavy in fat and protein. (I'd mix with some bread in between but that's me.) -

No idea. My husband went shopping and said that there was no milk, pasta or toilet paper.

Keto and the Gastric Bypass w/gall bladder removal
summerset replied to Lynda486's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have no idea what these dishes contain besides rice or noodles so you might take my opinion with a grain of salt. Just because a meal is centered around rice or noodles doesn't make it "unhealthy". It might be viewed as unhealthy from the perspective of a person that holds the opinion low-carb eating is the ideal way of eating but that doesn't actually mean a rice or noodle centered dish is unhealthy. -
Hmmmmm, surgeons often recommend the 6 weeks to people who had abdominal surgery to minimize the possibility of hernia when it comes to the incisions. It's not WLS related. Maybe it's a German surgical guideline thing. I can remember vaguely having learnt about the 5 kg rule myself years ago. I'm also always surprised how soon patients are discharged after surgery. In Germany 5th post-op day is pretty standard. Maybe a day sooner if the patient presses for it.

Wow. I have 6 weeks of restriction. No more lifting than 5 kg (e. g. for grocery shopping). However, I have to admit, using the abdominal muscles really does still hurt a little bit, so... plus I'm afraid it will hurt the hiatoplastic if there is too much pressure into the abdomen so I'll go with the 6 week restriction regarding the abdominal wall.

Ahhhhhh, finally... -
I wonder how awful the situation at work is right now. I'm going back on Thursday and see myself wearing a mask all day. Either a regular surgical mask (if everyone wears them, there is some kind of protection after all) or an FFP 3 mask when dealing with patients.

I have no idea what consistency baked ricotta might have. However, I can notice a difference between really liquid stuff like tea, a protein shake that is slightly thicker and a more pudding like consistency. They all feel different. I wonder if I can handle solids. Tomorrow I'm going to try.
-
Portions vary depending not only on the type of food but also sometimes from day to day or time of day. The portion sizes given are just for orientation in the end. For some people the recommended portion size is too big, others can eat more. Maybe what you ate simply was too "solid" as well.

I can feel it like a pressure in the epigastric area, directly under the xiphoid. This was after the MGB as well and it's now the same. With a little time it changes to a "normal" feeling of fullness. It was kind of fascinating feeling this pressure in a little, pretty well defined area only.

Meh, one can really see this weird bump. I guess there is a bit of seroma above the incision where the drain was located. -

For starters take a look at this real classy selfie showing off my 3 week old incisions. They look fine. Skin not so much. Bleh. -

As expected my follow-up appointment that was scheduled in advance was just cancelled. I wonder how much time it will take for people to come back to some kind of normalcy. Like, how long does it take for us to learn to live with the virus and the changes it brings for most likely many months? People are whining that they should stay at home. Come on... there is worse. And TV, phone, video chat, internet and the book have already been invented. If it helps your need to show everyone on social media how busy and cool your life is, post a selfie reading a book on facebook, instagram or wherever. And dear (self-proclaimed) "influencers", make stay-at-home activities look cool, please. -
Feeling kind of tired today. Went a little grocery shopping for soy yoghurt and wanted to get frozen fruits for green smoothies - most of it was gone. *sigh*
At least I could get some of these little round pumpernickel breads. Looking forward to eating some of these bite sized things tomorrow.

Im scared of gaining weight through this crisis
summerset replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I can kind of relate. When anxiety strikes people concentrate on a lot of things that seem to be under their control because everything else seems to be so out of control. -

Indeed. And some groups are more at risk. It's not only chronically ill people, but also medical staff and e. g. the cashiers in grocery stores etc. etc. etc. - there simply are people who can't just stay home and hide. When anxiety strikes, "distraction" indeed doesn't tend to work. Plus, with all the hysteria one doesn't need a diagnosed anxiety disorder to freak out. Be exposed long enough and you're good to go. And honestly: "weight gain" is the least of my concerns now. I was like WTH?? when I read that post and just like... wow. -
Challenges with Weight Loss during Quarantine?
summerset replied to darcyjae's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I stashed away a few groceries I've gotten for Wednesday and beyond when I'm allowed solids and raw stuff again (crisp bread, crackers, frozen spinach etc.) and realized that my pantry always looks like I'm preparing for catastrophe, lol. Rice, udon, mie, edamame pasta, tomato sauce in glasses, packets of crackers, tea, coffee, nut butters, soy milk, protein bars, cocoa, erythrith, powders, muesli etc. - if I had a bigger freezer it would be stuffed with way more frozen fruits and vegetables as well. I usually buy stuff with long shelf lives in bulk when it's on sale or special online offer. -

China, Taiwan and South-Korea seem to have a better handling on everything corona. (No, I don't want to talk about politics in these countries.)
