    Any bike suggestions?

I have an appointment tomorrow (one has to make an appointment because of Corona, mind you) for bike shopping. Hopefully some nice e-MTB fullies my frame size available for testing. 😁

    Food Before and After Photos

Late breakfast. The local bakery really has decent rolls and bread.
  4. Sun came out after all! 🌞

Bike ride time. There they are. Planning on getting an e-bike for pure fun rides.

ENJOY! 😄 A new bike is on my to do list right now. Everyone tells me TREK is the way to go. I know I need a cruiser type where posture is straight due to low back issues🙄. I plan to go to 2 reputable bike shops within the week to get fitted and weigh recommendations. Bikes are a BIG investment these days, but pay even BIGGER DIVIDENDS to our HEALTH and JOYFUL LIVING!! Have Fun!!!💖

I love these bikes. They're so much more fun to ride than the creaky old thing I use to bike to work. 😂

Anyway, I'm planning on a fully e-MTB (gotta love a fully, even though they're much more expensive!). Fullies are so much more comfortable.

    Revision time

In the really early weeks, yes. However, I heard the same about sleevers, so dunno...

Same here. I also remember one of the dietitians claiming it's not that problematic with bypass but more with the sleeve as liquids pass rather quickly through the anastomosis. Can't remember the exact words because it's 4 years ago now. I know the 30 min rule but noticed early in that before eating the drinking up until a few minutes before the meal is no problem. After the meal drinking too early is just making me feel uncomfortable. Sometimes I wait longer than 30 min. Sometimes it's just 25 min or something like that. Depends on meal size and meal consistency. Mind you, this is not how I handled it a few days out. Take it slow.

    Food Before and After Photos

Hubby didn't want to eat up his salad so I played the bio-waste container. Added snack carrots and olives to it. Rye bread with veg cheese and veg salami. Some of the tomatoes I took a picture of earlier.

    7 Years Sleeve Post-Op

Have you tried bodyweight training? I hate machine training as well, that's why I never followed through with it for longer. Haven't touched a machine in like ages. I have recently started again slooooooooooowly after only doing some low-dose rehab training for my shoulder since ages.
  9. 1800 kcal is actually not that much when it comes to maintaining, depending on how active one is or what kind of job one holds down. It just seems so outrageously high because the perception of what's a lot to eat or what's a lot of calories is pretty much warped on WLS boards. Haha, ask me how many times I got sick recently because I still seem to confuse an almost 4 year old MGB with a barely 3 months old long limb RNY, lol. Ah, gotta keep the humor...

Scrambled eggs was something that made me puke my guts out after MGB the first time I tried them after being cleared for all foods after four weeks, lol. Beans were a no-no for the first four weeks as well (because gas!). As I said protocols vary and last time I was allowed all foods after three weeks instead of four. Just be careful when introducing new foods. It will work out and the worst time will be over in a few days.
  11. It depends on what you're looking for. Approaches of support groups vary big deal. Some feature the "food addiction/never again" approach, others feature the "intuitive eating/take the magic pull out of food" approach. Depending on group vibes and your personal preferences support groups can be very helpful or highly toxic. Be careful when choosing one and don't hesitate to leave if the people there pull you down instead of lifting you up.

What helped cravings for savory stuff was putting natural peanut butter in soups. I don't know if you're on clear liquids or not. Protocols vary. We got a cup of water several hours after surgery on our nightstand that should last through the night. Day after surgery was water and cold tea only and from then on stuff like yoghurt, cream soups etc. --- Sun is out! 😁

    Hate bypass

It is early. I'm always surprised how early patients are discharged sometimes. Routine discharge here is on 5th post-op day but only when all post-op labs, ultrasound and cinematography are fine. Sleeve must be so different. I can't imagine the level of restriction patients must be having. From what I saw when I was at the clinic (for whatever procedure...) the bypass people seemed to have less issues drinking their fluids and felt less crappy after surgery. How big is a Chobani yoghurt, like how many grams? One yoghurt wasn't a problem for me either. The "being full after three spoonfuls" seems to be one of the many WLS myths that by far not all patients experience. I never did. Back in the days it did kind of scare me as well. Today I'm grateful for the amount of food I can eat (or rather could before revision, at the moment I'm eating more frequently but the meals are smaller). It makes eating life feel more normal. You're only a few days post-op. You didn't really want to have this surgery (meh, how I can relate to this...) and I feel this contributes to this "feeling awful and frustrated". We didn't go into this with the high expectations of someone who gets the first WLS. No weight to lose, no weight-loss-rewards rolling in, no awesome changes in life how people treat you differently because you've lost weight. We hope for no pain, no complications and we certainly hope that we won't experience any weight gain because of revision. Fear/Anxiety, not hope, is the predominant feeling for many people having revision because of some other reason than "weight loss". Will my weight stay stable? Will my reflux really be gone? I don't know if the "weight gain thought" is really a rational thought to have but it's nagging in the back of my brain since surgery, messing up my relationship with food (again). It slowly gets better but there is still this in my head: "Is long limb RNY as good as MGB when it comes to maintaining weight?! Will I magically start gaining weight even though I don't eat more than before with the MGB?! Will I be fine in the future with this surgery weight wise?! What if reflux comes back?! What if this was the wrong decision?!" I totally get your thoughts and feelings and I hope it makes you feel less alone.

@Tracyringo I just hated these three weeks. I'm curious how eating will be during vacation. Had some mild issues yesterday evening but nothing serious. I still feel quite tensed, I guess it will take a few days of hanging around and sleeping in before accumulated stress will be gone. The weather could be a little bit more sunny but may it will get better.
  18. Some also say that results are better when patients have been at a stable weight for a while. Ok, I guess being at a relatively stable weight for the required amount of time shouldn't be a hindrance any more. "Stable weight" for a surgeon means tolerating some fluctuations after all. Maybe I'm too indifferent when it comes to the aesthetic outcome. I want the flab gone, no complications and painless scars. Don't care if they're visible or whatever. My skin looks horrible anyway and my abdominal wall is a visceral surgeon's battlefield after five laparoscopies.

    OOTD

Just put together the wardrobe for vacation (yes, last minute here like always) and I'm mad at myself because I can't find my two favorite Dynafit skirts. I put them #somewhere at the end of last summer and can't find them now. 🤬 Ok, the weather forecast isn't that great anyway and I would most likely be freezing my butt off in a short skirt so I guess it doesn't matter now... have to find them before summer though. I also put my black Vibram ballerinas #somewhere. Meh.
  20. Local. There is a clinic just some 100 m away that has good reputation and the surgeon does combo surgeries. I only had video chat so far because they're still not open for regular appointments. I'm going to try again in a few days. Anyway, one criteria for me is combo surgery. I don't want to have more hospital stays and absences than absolutely necessary. If I have to travel, I will. However, I prefer staying local.
  21. I started to obsess and then COVID-19 came along the way, lol.
  22. Damn, watching Mukbangs really is kind of addictive, lol.
