Second meal for today (late shift, so having dinner at the hospital): sticky rice with furikake spice, trout and mackerel in black beans. Not pictured: sliced cucumbers. -

Not a good picture. Walnuts, Brazil nuts, medjool dates, partly filled with coconut. -
If you restarted "the plan" (I guess the diet you started out with after surgery?) again and again without much success it's time for a different plan. It's ludicrous to try the same thing over and over again without making sensible adjustments. What are your major hurdles? If it's portion size you might want to start eating more of the less calorie dense foods. If it's meal frequency, maybe IF is something to your taste?

Red lentil penne with some leftover tomato sauce and cashewsan. The majority of the penne went into the dish pictured above. I hate how much time food preparing needs. So this evening I cooked enough for several meals. Luckily I had everything I needed still at home. However, with the salad bar still closed the food at the cafeteria is not really what I'd call both healthy & satisfying (seems like it's either/or) and tomorrow I have another 24 h shift. Saturdays are usually the worst. Well, one can hope... -

You can always eat quite a bit of the wrong things, lol. However, what one regards as "the wrong things"... that varies a lot. -

If there was a surefire way to predict outcome insurance companies would have started using it against the patients applying for coverage long ago, lol. -
OMG, I tried that once and it's nothing for European taste buds. 😂

Pita pizzas before baking. Forgot to take a shot of the baked once, sigh. -
Carbonated drinks don't stretch your stomach. It's a myth. Dr. Weiner made a interesting video about this.

Ok, we really see turkey, cheddar and chocolate covered pretzels in one bag? No? -
Most likely if you start eating these foods more regularly you might finally start to crave them. It might be more subtle than the craving for higher palatable foods but it's going to be there.

On Sunday I'm going to sign the contract for my new flat. 🤫

It looked very good when I took a look at it on Monday. Big kitchen, both a shower and a bath tub! Big balcony.

Healthier, But Lonelier
summerset replied to kc892020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is still a difference between "hiding" and "advertising". Nobody wants patients to wear an "I had WLS. Kiss me!" shirt. But losing weight and giving people the "just diet and exercise, man" schlock is something that feeds into the lack of acceptance of WLS. There is always the middle ground. --- However, there will always be discussion about this issue and I think I have made my opinion on this clear more than one time in the past. In the end I won't change anyone's mind on this anyway. If people want to hide their surgery, they will hide it as best as they can. Some will be able to hide it, some will be outed and some will be talked about behind their back because people are not as naive as some seem to think they are. -
Now that I think about it I had some temporary aversion to everything tofu and soy yoghurt. It lasted about 7 or 8 months or so.

No, it's the soy based meat made by Rügenwalder I use quite often. Seitan I usually only use in very intense tasting tomato based stews. -

Leftover sticky rice again (last portion) with "chicken", green beans, carrots, pineapple, mushrooms and red onions in a sweet & sour sauce. -
Interesting. I'd consider a sandwich with fruit and/or vegetables/small salad or pickles on the side as a "normal lunch". Or a sandwich with a yoghurt as dessert. It's a common thing to bring with you to the office and a popular choice at the cafeteria if one doesn't like what's offered for warm lunch that day. The combination of sandwich, chips and cookies for lunch sounds weird to a German. The burger/fries or other fast food combo is the "unhealthy but tasty" occasional choice for lunch for most people I work with.
