Covid Vaccine
summerset replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I got the Comirnaty shot. I didn't have any problems despite a bit of pain in the deltoid but I had that after several other vaccine shots as well in the past. I had a little bit of a headache after the second shot but nothing a pain killer wouldn't have taken care of. -

Planning on bean pasta with veg bolo sauce tonight but I won't deny that there ist definitely the possibility of me just heating up a frozen vegan pizza (never had it before, curious about the taste). 😅 ETA: btw, does anyone know where users like sillykitty or fluffychix have gone? -

Just some boring looking protein oats. I still have some X-mas flavors left. Gingerbread and Vanillekipferl. The gingerbread one is heavy on the aniseed and resembles more the flavor of aniseed cookies. The powder is unpalatable solo but it blends in nicely with vanilla, cinnamon star or chocolate in oats/mugcakes. -

Had a sample of strawberry cheesecake pea protein. Mixed it up with soy yoghurt and some dark chocolate. Looks admittedly pretty ugly on picture, lol. Taste was not bad but it's not something I want to have regularly. There are definitely some flavors that are quite nice tasting but I wouldn't want to order a whole tub of. This is an example. Another example is peanut-butter-jelly. In oats I definitely like vanilla, cinnamon and salted-caramel. Interestingly enough chocolate not so much. In yoghurt I like the more fruity flavors though vanilla and chocolate definitely aren't bad. Baked goods it always comes back to chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut or peanut. -

No time for cooking so keeping it simple and boring as always during the last weeks with some rare exceptions. So if you folks are interested in boring microwaved, minimalistic food choices, here we go: Little potatoes, onion, carrot and tempeh cooked in the microwave with thyme. Ate it with a soy skyr dip (dump spice mix into the skyr and mix it up) and a bit of vegan BBQ sauce. Tried a new one from nutri+ - yum but pricey... -
Whatever you decide to do: ask yourself if it's something you might still be fine with in e. g. two years or five years. Of course you can never know if you will really be fine with the approach you choose a few years down the road but giving yourself an honest answer might help you rule out any approach you're uncomfortable with from the beginning on. So when part of your brain wants to turn around on the heel and run away, screeching "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" when thinking about going to the gym six days a week, living off lean protein, shakes, no fat, no carbs, no nothing forever - then don't do it. No, you won't "get used to it". Yes, you can kickstart things with sort of a high-speed diet for a few weeks if you're comfortable with that approach - but have a plan how to proceed from there and ask yourself if it's the time for a kickstart. It might not be the time for a really restrictive short-term diet if you feel very stressed, need lots of energy for your working days, have an injury or acute illness to deal with or if you're prone to reactive bingeing.

Choose a diet you can be on longterm. If Dr. V's diet agrees with you... it's certainly not a bad one. You might want to look into Dr. Weiner's approach as well. He has quite a few videos on youtube as well.

There is no maximal calorie allotment. You also don't need to exercise to lose weight. Exercise definitely has benefits (like preserving muscle mass when done properly) but you don't have to exercise to lose weight. Essentially you need to be in a calorie deficit and the amount of calories people need to maintain their weight is very, very different. You seem to be quite short - depending on how active you are 1500 kcal might as well be your maintenance amount. So you've already come to the conclusion that dieting is not the right thing to do for you so asking about a certain calorie limit is rather moot anyway.

dairy = can't have it because stomach cramps and nausea other animal foods = ethical and environmental reasons I eat substitutes though if the ingredients don't read too bad, e. g. I'm eating vegan cheese once in a while made out of cashews (there is a vegan camembert that's bomb, unfortunately very pricey and with a very short shelf life) and I make my own parmesan substitute to use over pasta out of cashews, nooch, a bit of salt, onion and garlic powder. I limit vegan "junk food" like Schnitzel and "chicken" nuggets because of health reasons but usually have some of them in the freezer when the cravings hit.

Everything is "corona" as it seems. Like there is nothing else anymore in the news. Stopped reading most of the stuff. Watching the news, I stopped long ago. It's depressing without end.
For me it's not only "corona" but several other things that are on my plate IRL, even though "corona" is a huge thing in its own way when you're a medical worker. I got my second vaccine shot yesterday and now I'm hoping that these shots are really worth something.
Anyway, I'm not going to be online much during the next time except for studying online as I still have this exam pending (no date set yet).

Anyone else obsessed with My 600 lb Life?
summerset replied to 49Nash's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So stop watching it! As long as people keep watching the show they agree with the exploitation of these people. If you need a sensational TV show to educate yourself about certain things your treatment team did a job beyond sh*tty so far. Patients are not always ignorant about their diet. However, they know exactly that they're going to get scolded by their a**hole doctors and/or nutritionists and insist on following their diets to protect themselves. -

Why not? Could very well be a nurse - there are truckloads of fat phobic nurses and doctors out there. Regarding elective surgeries: hospitals postponing too many elective surgeries, i. e. anything that's not classified as immediate emergency, run into financial troubles really soon. Hospitals are much more hesitant than in spring to cancel elective surgeries and even back then they only did so because they absolutely had to.

I only idled around my new flat both yesterday and today and on Friday evening instead of studying. Hubby says one needs a break once in a while. Problem is, I can't afford this break atm. Three days of not-studying is a no-go so I'm going to look at some material tonight. If I wouldn't be feeling so damn tensed and tired these days... but things are just like they are.
