Me, too. Looking forward to the first self-made vegan protein-pizza since several weeks after my exam took place. Atm, one of my staples has become bulgur salad with skyr and maybe a pita - depends on mood. Another staple is microwaved potatoes and/or vegetables with skyr for protein. Ate too much protein bread-y baked goods with vegan fake stuff on it lately. I feel like I won't be able to even look at it within a few more days, lol. -

Alnatura's black bean burger patties with a BBQ sauce and skyr with pieces of bell pepper in it. -

Not really. The dough is not as fatty as that of a borek. It was a slightly sweet bread-y like dough (but only slightly so) with a potato and onion filling. I think it would have tasted better warm. -

Had skyr with bulgur salad and pita again yesterday evening. Seems to be a new favorite. Problem is the leftovers are not really something I'd want to eat. The soy skyr gets a really weird texture the next day once mixed with something that is the slightest acidic. There wasn't much left but I hate throwing out food. Anyway, lunch for today: fruit bowl with some almond butter that has become too dense by sitting too long. A potato filled thingy from the Turkish bakery I stopped at yesterday when I visited a friend in the city I lived in until New Year. Curious about how it will taste. Soy yoghurt (just in case the potato thing tastes horrible, lol). -
I thought so. But they're not even "healthy-ish" IMO. I can't wrap my brain around the notion that a food is automatically seen as "healthier" just because it contains a bit more protein or less sugar (but more artificial sweetener) than the original stuff. That's what companies selling this stuff at horrendous prices want you to believe.

One either loves the more dense/chewy texture of the protein baked goods or one hates it I guess. Neither of this stuff has anything to do with "healthy food". It's processed stuff just like ordinary cakes/cookies etc.

What if it just...doesn’t work?

I never really looked into this but is there correlation between lower starting weights and higher starting weights maybe? Like someone with a starting BMI of maybe 37 having a bigger chance of getting down to e. g. BMI 23 than someone who started with a BMI of 53? -

Addiction transfer is real, as so many people have stated on this board. It doesn't have to be smoking, alcohol, gambling etc. - we all know that this not "healthy behavior". Addiction can be way more sneaky. Being addicted to exercise and eating "healthy" is all too often encouraged and seen as a good thing because it aids "weight loss". No one intervenes when things get too excessive. Excessive exercise and eating little calories is seen as desirable. Something many obese people even aspire to achieve, being that person who "lives in the gym and eats 100% clean". And people in their environment only start "to worry" once the person has become thin enough to raise concern and/or suspicion. However, someone with a normal or slightly overweight BMI rarely raises these concerns so people suffer in silence. I think most people don't actively lie about this. Yes, maybe some people give the answers they deem to be "the right ones" - like all of us know what people in our environment want fat people to do, huh? So some people I guess actively lie/lied about calorie/food intake and exercise. It's the same the other way around. Once there is concern about a person getting too thin or not eating enough, the person might lie about food intake as well. However, I think someone who claims to "eat very little" actually is convinced that he or she is not eating that much. After all "a little" and "a lot" is 100% relative, it always boils down to whom you're comparing yourself to. Just look at the posts where people ask about what amount of food is "normal" X weeks or X months after surgery. Compared to the amounts people on this board claim they eat I look like a hopeless glutton. To my environment my food intake looks fairly normal. -

At some point ones needs to ask the question: "Is going lower with weight worth the additional restrictions?" -

I think the worst is that patients think of themselves as "failures" when they're not reaching this very specific goal. People are all too eager to advise: "Follow your plan! Listen to your treatment team!" However, when it comes to goal setting, all of this seems to go down the drain within a millisecond. No more listening to the treatment team ("I REFUSE TO BE A STATISTIC!!!"). -

I wonder how people maintain their weight with tons of exercise and on that little calories. And we're not talking about a BMI of 16 here. Do they really track their calories accurately? Please note, that I'm not implying these patients are not telling the truth on purpose. But somewhere something simply doesn't match. -

So who else often ends up with a mix of convenience products/foods and homemade stuff for a meal? Like prepared salad box but with a homemade dressing. Or the meal pictured above? I can't be the only time pressed and/or lazy cook. What are your favorites? -

Interesting read. I can't help though but think about how much weight people gain during a time period of 11 years who never were obese in their whole life, maybe not even overweight. I just need to look at colleagues and friends. Weight gain (sometimes really significant) between the age of 35-50 seems to be quite common. So while I definitely don't want to dismiss weight regain over a time span that long, one should maybe also take a look outside the realm of the bariatric world and be careful what to label as "failure" or not (though this usually seems to be more of a patient-problem than a doctor-problem). If "goal" is BMI 24.9 or less you're definitely right. Now I'm going to talk about something that is really rarely talked about in the WLS community (we seem to have exactly one moderately active thread about this): eating disorders or disordered eating. When one takes a look at "failure rates" of treatment of patients suffering from eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia, bariatric patients don't seem to have worse outcomes so we don't seem to be exceptionally "bad patients". Too many patients seem to only change gear and develop overly restrictive eating habits, starve themselves and compulsively exercise, all too often encouraged not only by the scales showing less weight, but also by their environment and even their treatment teams. -

Didn't eat the bulgur salad. IF for 20 h - the stress is finally taking its toll I guess. Will have protein oats for dinner (vanilla/gingerbread mix). -

Quick lunch (I'm more time pressed than ever, still a few weeks more): Mixed fruit with almond butter. Convenience vegan bulgur salad. -
I still would like to eat pizza with real cheese on top. Or real cheese in general. Oh, well... Maybe the non-dairy substitutes will get better during the next years. The cream cheese spreads are not the worst and I luckily found a recipes to make my own "parmesan" to sprinkle over pasta or rice dishes.

Comfort food (didn't we have a fight on emotional eating lately, lol): Little potatoes and carrots boiled in skin in the microwave. Two hard boiled eggs, skyr dip and rucola cress on top. -

My skin is of bad quality. Lots of stretch marks on it. Torn skin. It's plastics for me. Once my exam is over I'm going to try to speed things up a bit again. I'm vaccinated and work in a hospital setting. I hope being a vaccinated patient in a hospital isn't more dangerous than this. -

Would be interesting to know how much weight she lost (especially in BMI points). After all there's a difference between losing 80 lbs being a tall person and losing 160 lbs when being a short person. I only think of weight changes that are about the same BMI points as comparable when it comes to loose skin. Also, age is a huge factor and "quality of skin". -

Unfortunately, treatment teams are all too often reinforcing that thought. 😕 -
You're frustrated, offended and angry because people don't take what you write as gospel but call you out on your unscientific and unproven statements. Claiming you're not frustrated, offended and angry? Well, you don't give the impression that you're not.
