Why did you pick such a high goal weight? Your BMI is STILL overweight!

It wouldn't really surprise me but - did someone on here actually write that? 😂 -

"Picking a goal weight". Quite a few people who've "picked a goal weight" will realize sooner or later that one doesn't "pick a goal weight" like one picks the color of a new car. -
Depends on the substitute. The gluten based ones usually have insane amounts of protein.

Diet foods are practically always a ripoff as it seems. Learn your lesson, don't buy again. If you want to eat pizza, eat real pizza or make your own protein dough (there are quite simple recipes out there, that are good tasting).

18 months out - need to get back on track!

Going for extremes is popular. All-or-nothing-thinking, catharsis for having sinned. I've given up on trying to understand. Not my business. -
Put a normal weight person on liquids for a few weeks and I can 100% guarantee you that person is going to experience some serious "head hunger" as well.

Maybe we should also talk about "shoulding"? (pun intended, lol) As obese people we... ... should only want to eat low calories food. ... should exercise everyday. ... should to love exercising every day. ... should definitely try everything to lose weight. ... should be listening to other people who "seemingly know better". ... shouldn't trust ourselves with food ever. ... shouldn't crave "unhealthy" (aka high calorie) foods ever. ... shouldn't have any desire for food at all. ... shouldn't accept our bodies.

Saddest thing is: I'm sure there would be some people answering that question with "Yes!!". 😂

Dinner tonight. Purple cooked rice, thawed edamame, some carrots, mushrooms and smoked tofu with a honey-garlic sauce. -

Veg burger I had yesterday. Tried a new patty. Was only mediocre. The garden gourmet are way better. -
Is your partner normal weight or heavy? How does this affect you?
summerset replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My partner is quite overweight. We see each other on weekends only tough. I sometimes think I am the one enabling his bad choices then. -
Myth 2: People won't be physically hungry anymore. Is that a fairly new thing surgeons tell their patients? I was never told that; on the contrary the surgeon said that I would be hungry and I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't, lol. Physical hunger signals are either not that strong or I'm used to ignoring them. Maybe a mix of both, no idea. I don't think that this makes things necessarily easier though. When you're not really hungry and know when to start eating - how do you know when to stop eating once you started? I think this is an interesting question, especially since I despise all of this tracking. For some reason it makes me prone to eating more?

What are BEST side effects of WLS for you besides the WL?
summerset replied to mamabear_2_2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The worst being "this is no discrimination because fat people can lose weight". Bruh, that's like saying "If you feel discriminated because of your religion you can convert to another one"... -
It's always hard to tell what "stomach noises" are about. Stomachs make noises all the time, lol. That "gnawing experience" you're experiencing - are you on PPI? Some people seem to experience the sensations you're talking about because of stomach acid and PPI are helping them. Many surgeons recommend PPI for 6 month after surgery but not all seem to do so.

Once introduced to the concept of head hunger (plus a surgeon making steep claims about "hunger not being a thing anymore for a whole while") some people tend to go overboard and label every desire for food as pathologic "head hunger". We get hammered into our heads almost constantly that we can't be trusted with food ever - so this is not really surprising in the end. Too many of us think that "others know better" when it comes to our bodies and their needs.

What's your favorite brand?

What amount of food people can comfortably eat or not depends on so many things... with MGB things seem to be easier, at least I had the impression that the MGB was kind of "more forgiving" than the long-limb RNY I have now. Anyway, as long as you're making progress there is most likely nothing to worry about. As always: if in doubt, ask someone IRL (your treatment team).

Anxiety is through the roof right now and I vacillate between "I want to eat and self-medicate with food!" and "I'm too hyper and nauseous to eat right now! Btw, where is the caffeine, b*tch?!"
This seems to cancel itself out calorie-wise. Two more weeks of this crap. Then I'm going to sleep for three days straight I guess. Or maybe not.

And here I am, thinking I am the fatalistic one, lol.

That sounds a bit like the "apfelkuchen"-spice mix I have at home. I also have allspice sitting in the cupboard. Thank you.
-
That reminds me that I wanted to try carrot cake oatmeal since a whole while. What spices do you use? Means: what exactly is in that pumpkin pie spice?
-
That's what I do as well. I use either vanilla, salted caramel or cinnamon. Sometimes I mix the powders. ETA: You're most likely going to have to experiment with the ratio of fluid/oats/powder to get the desired consistency.

Foods After Surgery That Used To Be a No-No
summerset replied to SummerTimeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I never counted calories post-op. We also never were encouraged to count calories. Strategies vary.
