    Looks good. What's that filling?
  3. Just thinking it could be two ways around. Leaving the boards -> getting lost and gaining Started gaining -> leaving the boards because it's too depressing reading about the success of other users

    A pound of cure.

I think it's a good approach. Lots of plant food and therefore lots of phytonutrients but I'm definitely biased towards vegan and/or plant based.
  6. Did they stop coming here because of the weight gain or was it completely unrelated?
  7. I think this is still some kind of slippery slope. When we're talking about "eating habits" or "lifestyle habits" that were bad enough (bad in the sense of severe) to cause a weight so high the patient needed WLS we're IMO are no longer talking about "habits" but about addiction, eating disorders or at least severely disordered eating. Referring to all of these issues as "habits" doesn't IMO cater to the severity of the disease of morbid obesity. This is just my opinion of course but I think we don't do ourselves a favor by diminishing or belittling our issues by referring to them as "habits". Let's call these issues and behaviors that come with them by their names: Eating disorders. Disordered eating. Addictive behavior. And once we start talking about eating disorders and addictions we can take a look at other eating disorders and addictions and long term treatment success. WLS patients seem to do fairly well in comparison.
  8. I usually agree with you but this rubs me the wrongest way possible. Nobody polices patients who've had coronary bypass surgery or angioplasty if they take their statins, engage in moderate exercise and really have stopped smoking. Nobody polices diabetes patients if they changed their eating habits and threatens to stop covering insulin treatment if they don't.
  9. Sure that you can't remember lipsticklady and her crowd?
  10. Reddit is no better. It looks like a big bragging before/after picture and look-how-small-my-portions-are show.
  11. He and the "tough lovers division" that got banned a while ago, lol.

Why the same advice over and over?

Good thing is, it's not your windmill so in the end it's not your problem. I must have missed something. Didn't see her reply to this thread?
  13. That's a very common pattern, indeed.

Give me an urgent call once you've found a way to successfully conquer that particular windmill, ok?

    Failing miserably

How do you know that you've "stretched your stomach"? Because most likely you didn't. You got used to larger portions and that's normal up to a certain degree. Dr. Matthew Weiner has interesting videos on this on YouTube. But you did go to the planned appointments? What "lies" did you tell yourself and why do you feel that you "didn't earn" your weight loss? Weight loss after surgery is nothing that needs to be "earned". WLS is a surgical therapy that is supposed to work for the patient like coronary bypass surgery is supposed to work for the patient. You don't need to earn anything here! Having WLS is like learning to swim. You can read everything about swimming that's available, you can get lessons on how to learn the best technique, you can talk to people who have learnt to swim until you're blue in the face - but you know what? Most of this stuff means diddly squat the moment you hit the water for the first time! I'm curious about the title. Tell us! There are people who lost weight without exercising. Yes, there are many benefits to exercising like cardiovascular health, bone strength, uplifting your mood etc but if you hate it - you don't need to. Stop acting like a sinner that needs to do penance, it's so damn destructive and will get you nowhere in the end. There's nothing to confess. We all screwed up with quite a few things in life. Be kind to yourself, as hard as it might be right now.

    Food Before and After Photos

Broccoli, raw red bell pepper, some cucumber, shiitake mushrooms with a dip.
  17. Who would worry about this anyway? One can't be everybody's darling.
  18. You just can't automatically see what they write. If someone quotes the blocked post though you still see the quoted passage though. You can read and respond to people that put you on ignore though.
  19. Quite a few over the years. However, I think at least 90% of them are no longer posting here anymore since a whole while anyway, lol. What happened?

    Unwanted compliments

The most f*cked up situation I can remember is me being in the CT-scanning room in the middle of the usual turmoil that occurs when a patient when an acute stroke is on the table and someone asking me how much weight I've lost. I was like "WTF??? Lady, I'm placing a bigger needle into the hand of this patient now for CTP and I'm also preparing mentally for shoving a catheter into the middle brain artery of a woman in her 80s to suck out a clot and that is what you're wondering about now??! Get the f*ck out of my CT room!!" Up to this day I can't wrap my brain around this absurd situation, the most absurd about this being, that I had to tell her twice that I'm busy with something else right now (no, I wasn't being exactly friendly when I did that).

    Unwanted compliments

I almost always felt uncomfortable when people commented. There were only a few ones that commented I didn't feel uncomfortable when they did so. I can't really pinpoint the difference though tbh. I just can say that there was/is one.
  23. It can take several weeks before you feel like "normal" again. After genreal anesthesia (I had several in my life so far) it always took me about three weeks to recovery from the fatigue.
  24. OMG... people are going crazy for easter shopping? I low-grade expected people already waiting in line before the store before opening time but this was insane. I briefly considered simply driving home. 🙄

All I can say is: if I wouldn't be on-call today and shopping next week will be even more of a hassle when the boss is on vacation and we're going to have to work overtime for sure, I wouldn't have gone shopping today.

Yes, I'm vaccinated and all and people are wearing masks but anyway...

    Crazy.
