Mock chicken with an Asian vegetable mix out of the fridge and some of that sate paste. Red rice can't be seen.

Hmmmmm, eggplant sounds good. Haven't made them in a while.... 🤔 I'm going to roast a zucchini this evening and maybe cook up some sticky rice in the rice cooker. I have like a truckload of uncooked rice at home. (project shelf- and fridge-cleaning will take a while to accomplish)

Sate ramen (cleaning out shelves again) - got a bit too oily so I might adjust the amount of sate paste but in general it had a pleasant taste.

Sunday brunch. Tofu scramble with rye bread. Coffee, figs and papaya not pictured.

Junky Saturday evening. Kloßteigpommes with a cheezy sauce and jalapeños. Won't neither repeat nor recommend. The Pommes where too dry and didn't get browned in the oven. Kloßteig fried in the pan is way more to my taste. I think the sauce will enter the bin. I have no idea why other vegans on Reddit raved about that sauce. 🤢 In sum it was a fail, lol.

It's fake tuna (that stuff is bomb, but IMO only good cold on sandwiches; won't make that again) with onion on one and vegan bacon and onion on the other on whole wheat toast.

Junk food evening. I need to get rid of certain items past the best before date and cleaning out the fridge at the same time: It's the fake vegan stuff, just FYI.
  9. IMO a major culprit is that people try to adopt unsustainable lifestyles in the beginning to lose weight as fast as possible and get down to that magic BMI number (we all know that number I guess), no matter what. And then they burn out after - what time? - 10 to 14 months post-op seems to be a critical timespan for this. I've also read "and then life happened and I've fallen off the wagon" way too often. A sustainable lifestyle is sustainable even when "life happens" and the **** hits the fan. Anything else is temporary.

    Final %EWL

The calculator in the link spits out an ideal body weight that sits at BMI 21. I'm at a bit more than 90% EWL according to this calculator at BMI 23 (which is an absolutely normal weight). I guess the second round of plastics will remove a bit more weight but not two BMI points. I'm like errr... no. Pretty triggering, this "ideal weight" stuff? Patients are driving themselves crazy anyway and EWL is another potential thing to obsess about. Bonus points if not reaching a normal BMI is used as a reference but this ideal-weight-thing.

    Invincible, or not?

Several years after surgery people don't really notice. I'm the nutty vegan, but that's it. People either already know I had WLS or they don't and have not really a reason to think so.

I need to make protein muffins again. My freezer is full with other stuff, however. 😂 I only bake when I can batch-bake and freeze.

Asian soup with tofu and udons. Photographed in the kitchen. That's why no baby seals.
  15. If it doesn't look infected, clean it with some e. g. Octenisept and apply new Steristrips to close the gap once the Octenisept has dried off. If in doubt go to your GP.

    Non dairy protein shakes

There are lots of plant based protein powders available. I use the 4k or 8k from ProFuel (the "original" I don't like) and Alphafoods, sometimes nutri+. If possible try to order sample packs before buying a whole tub because taste and consistency vary big time, even when it comes to the same brand.

I couldn't resist posting this picture I sent my husband yesterday when I made summer rolls for the first time. Long-timers on this thread can probably can spot why I couldn't resist. 😁
  18. Going in tomorrow. Will be back sometime next week.

Thank you. Things went fine (or so I guess). Still swollen. It's not easy to find a comfortable position at home. Dreading the first night home without a hospital bed.

  19. Going in on Tuesday. Things are arranged (need to order a cab to the station because it's too early for a bus going there) and I'm getting more nervous by the hour.

  20. Blood work came back normal. My GP office called today. Yeah!

Having a sore throat since a few days (all corona tests negative so far though). Damn! I need a negative PCR-test on admission day! 😷

  21. One more month until my lower body lift. 😷

Getting both excited and scared here. Hopefully blood panel will be ok and PCR test negative. Meh.

(Oh, and I'm also already worrying about scheduling the next round of plastics, hopefully they will do thighs and breasts together, not sure... arms would be cool as well. Errrr......)

how exciting, hope all goes well

  22. I'm getting more and more anxious. Hopefully my PCR test will be negative on admission day!! 😷

  23. July 6th is the date.

Finally getting my lower body lift. 😷

      It's a 6 h surgery and tbh - I'm pretty scared.

Scared but maybe a little excited too? I think my mommy makeover was almost 6hrs. I’m always amazed by the endurance of surgeons and their teams.

Of course I'm excited! I'm so happy insurance approved for abdomen, mons and inner thighs! I'm half-self pay for the lower body lift so to say (IMO that's ok - if you want premium and not standard you should pay for the difference in price yourself). However, sick leave and anesthesia and hospital stay is covered by insurance and that's very important.

Breast and upper arms: there is still appeal going on but it doesn't really stress me out right now because it will be minimum 6-9 months before it would come to the third surgery anyway. Most important thing is that insurance will pay for the stuff that's bothering me the most. My inner thighs don't exactly chafe but the touch of the loose skin when walking when not wearing tight pants that provide a bit of compression is a really unpleasant feeling. It's very... weird. Hooray for running skirts when it gets hot again in summer!

  24. Got mail from my lawyer recently. Insurance approved tummy tuck and thighs. My appointment with the PC for all the planning is on 1st April. I want to have a lower body lift so I will have to pay partly myself but IMO this is ok. Solidarity system should pay for necessities not for the premium version. Appeal for breast and arms is still going.

      Hopefully, yes.

However, even if not - the procedures that matter most to me (abdomen, mons and thighs) are covered. I'm partly self-pay because of wanting a lower body lift but since the surgery is partly covered I can get a normal sick leave for work (instead of using vacation days) which is a very important thing.

Appeal regarding breasts and arms will take time again. However, with two surgeries ahead, including the big lower body lift - it will take about a year before this becomes relevant again anyway, I guess. 😊

Hopefully you're fine with the pandemic and all?

    2. GreenTealael

      GreenTealael

Sounds like a good plan to break it into two surgeries. A year will go by quickly. I and my family are still doing well and hopefully the pandemic is in it’s final stages.
How are you and your family?

Ok, so far. We're all vaccinated and boostered and all... people are getting really tired of this whole pandemic stuff.
