I think the shirataki pasta is quite interesting. It tastes quite good in the traditional Asian recipes it is usually used in. However, I'm a bit wary to try them after the MGB, they gave me diarrhea before MGB if I ate too much of them and "too much" wasn't much of a quantity. As for protein pasta. I like the bean pastas (they are quite expensive though and I somehow doubt that their nutritional value is that much higher compared to the regular stuff). If one wants to try "protein pasta", I think the stuff myprotein sells is quite alright.

Well, eat it... your body will tell you if it likes to stomach pasta or not. You need to experiment. Or is your team strictly against pasta for some reason?

Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
summerset replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would definitely doing it again. However, I wouldn't opt for gastric banding again. Back in the days there was only lapband or gastric bypass and nearly nobody would have performed a gastric bypass on a woman my age and weight back then in Germany. It also was hard enough to get approved for lapband insurance wise, let alone gastric bypass or the DS. Most people got gastric banding or vertical gastroplasty then, some had a gastric bypass. I know have MGB because I needed revision because of complications (reflux, migrating band). I don't know if the MGB was the right decision. Maybe a few years down the road I will say that maybe RNY would have been the right choice or the DS to whatever. I'm having problems with gastritis again. Maybe diagnostics will be necessary again. Ah, whatever... Bottomline is though that I would have WLS again . -
What am I doing wrong?
summerset replied to Cinnahs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This a 1000 times. It's so important to adjust expectations otherwise you're going to feel like a failure. This is even more important when you're starting at a comparatively low BMI. Someone with a BMI of 55 or 60 will lose weight faster than someone with a BMI of 40 or 35 or less. You'll also lose weight slower if you have lost quite a bit of weight pre-surgery or if you're a revision and already had a substantial EWL in the past. Seriously, people are setting themselves up for depressed mood with these kind of expectations. (I have to remind myself of this as well and need to follow my own advice here, currently stalling since a few weeks.) -
70 lbs in 4 months is a lot. --- If you feel you're getting off track analyze what is your downfall (you already said grazing) and try to get a grip on it by asking yourself what might help the problem. What could help you to prevent grazing? A meal plan? Spreading the food you want to eat for that day over more meals (e. g. six instead of three or four meals)? Getting distracted with work or a hobby? --- Problem solving is something very individual. What might help one person, might make another person's problem worse.

People may understand about WLS on here but you'll notice that there might be a lot of unsolicited advice on here as well.

Liquid vitamins
summerset replied to Sleeveforme2017's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How many patches do you have on your body? Wouldn't you need more than one patch? Multi, iron, calcium... How expensive is a monthly supply and for how long are you using them already? -
Is there a list where we can view what exactly was updated and what new functions are available now? (I guess the boards migrated on 01/02/2017?)

The site is not really quiet in the sense of "inactive". There is a bunch of new posts every time I visit. LittleGreen is right: lets move on.

How did you get over your addiction?
summerset replied to JerseyJules's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How did I overcome food addiction? I think I didn't. --- Why do I think that? I think it's because I can't imagine continuing losing weight or maintaining weight without the crutch of the MGB. I wasn't before (started gaining back after the fill had to be removed from my lap-band and maintained at a higher level at about 50% EWL only) and I don't think I would be able to maintain now if I had the whole capacity of my stomach available. To view myself as truly recovered from emotional eating it would be necessary to be able to maintain a somewhat normal weight without my crutch. However, that's my personal definition of "being cured". -

It's called LaVita. I order it online. Tasty but rather expensive though. -
Liquid vitamins
summerset replied to Sleeveforme2017's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use a liquid one. It's a bit like a sirup that's diluted with Water. It was on the recommended list of possible vitamin supplements. -
This. Everything vasoconstrictive is bad for wound healing.

Ads bother me a lot, in the sense of getting on my nerves. It's not only about food, ads in general get on my nerves. On the web I use an ad blocker. When it comes to TV I pay an additional fee to be able to get the (near) advertisement free channels as well. I try to get around advertisement as much as I can though you can't be 100% advertisement free which is ok because advertisement is information about products as well so I don't mind a few spots. However, I try to get around food advertisement as it really can trigger cravings.

Eating Disorders and WLS
summerset replied to Tierra T Tij's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Indeed. I remember the psych evaluation in which "an eating disorder had to be ruled out" before being eligible for WLS so of course I insisted on not having an ED but secretly I only thought: "Dude, if I didn't have an ED I wouldn't be this fat". -
May 24 Surgery Day
summerset replied to LoveMyBypass's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi there, seems like I experiencing my first real stall. I'm maintaining since a few weeks (maybe six?). And I hate the loose skin. Had a few rashes between the legs already (took pictures of it, maybe I'm going to need this). -
I packed a whole bag a few weeks ago. I started a new bag recently. However, I not only put clothes in there that are too big. I also put clothes and shoes in it I haven't worn in ages, e. g. I put some gloves and hats in there I no longer wear as well.

If I had known then what I know now about my DS...
summerset replied to jessgnc's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I think it depends. I could spend easily 150 bucks on supplements/vitamins a month if I wanted to I guess. There are expensive and less expensive supplements after all. -
Deserves a full quote.

You got me wrong. I didn't suggest that you should start posting at OH as well. I don't like the boards because I hate the format and a "view new posts" function would increase usability a whole lot.

They definitely need a "view new posts" function.

DIdn't several people specifically asked to be banned?

Also nothing wrong with being active on more than one board. There is no decision making for one board or another required.
