Pissed Off and Rebelling
summerset replied to clevergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ah yes, but with all these new and excellent habits it should be a breeze anyway? Because you've already cemented these habits within that honeymoon period, remember? And wasn't that always the problem in the past as well that made maintenance impossible? Going back to "old habits"? -
What form of Bariatric Vitamins do you prefer?
summerset replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use a liquid one. It's the best tasting stuff (though quite expensive) I have tried so far. -
Pissed Off and Rebelling

BTW, when reading some of the posts in these thread I wonder why some people on here needed WLS in the first place. They were obviously so good at implementing all these changes and new habits before surgery happened... it should have made that sideshow thing WLS unnecessary. Maybe with a longer waiting period all that excess weight would have been gone without surgery after all. -

This. This. I have to search more than half-heartedly for a study that compares 5-year-or-more outcome between different groups ( e. g. the holy and mature 6-months-or-more waiting period with all the required hoops patients vs. the immature and evil patients without an extended waiting period and only quick education about post-op nutrition). I wonder if there will be significant and clinically relevant differences in regards to EWL after 5 years or more between the groups. -
When I'm browsing a thread that has more than one page and I change to e. g. the second or third page the page is not loading. At the bottom of the page is written "loading" but nothing happens. I have to refresh the tab so the page loads.

Dr Matthew Weiner Excellent information
summerset replied to GinaCampbell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks you and all available for kindle unlimited. Cool. -
Yes, it seems very strict and is far away from the usual "lean protein, no carb" approach.

It's a big decision to have WLS. It's absolutely normal to have doubts and fear.

Same here. MGB works so much better than the band for me (though in 2001 nobody even talked about MGB here in Germany). I wish I hadn't postponed revision for so long. Seems like I'm not the only one though.

It depends a lot on how many years a patient suffers from diabetes. The pancreas does wear out over the years after all. Some patients never will go into full remission, some go into remission for a few months and have to start taking meds again.

Much to my surprise I didn't have much problems adapting to the smaller portions. Sure, I sometimes regret not being able to gorge myself on food like when you're invited to a fancy dinner or something like that. But how many times a year does this happen? 10 times? If that. 10 days out of 365 days is nothing. Unfortunately you'll only know for sure if you were ready for change after you had WLS and are faced with the facts.

Back in hospital after having fatigue, feeling faint and trouble breathing
summerset replied to JustaGirl45's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
True. Difficulty breathing that early out could also have been pulmonary embolism. Patients shouldn't fool around with symptoms like troubled breathing. -
If it doesn't subsist within the next few days you should see your surgeon about it. I noticed some diarrhea myself after eating different foods than usual during vacation but it took a few days of different eating to have an effect. I've become sensitive to this, but I have MGB.

double post for some reason

Stomach bug?
-
No, it's either about 15-20 min later or a few hours later. May I ask what symptoms you're experiencing?
-
No, and my team doesn't require it.

Dr Matthew Weiner Excellent information
summerset replied to GinaCampbell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Found him on YT but couldn't find a cookbook. Do you have a title and/or link to it? -
Yeah, lots of complications with the lapband. I'm much happier mich the MGB now.

Plantar fasciitis post op
summerset replied to JerseyJules's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's most likely because you're walking more. I have to be aware of my plantar fascia (left foot) as well and of my achilles tendon (right foot). Stretching and foam rolling helps a lot! You also might need to take a look at your shoes. I had a long lasting case of PF about two years ago when the weather was warm enough to wear barefoot shoes again and I walked too long in them too soon after having worn heavy shoes throughout winter. -
Dr Matthew Weiner Excellent information
summerset replied to GinaCampbell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, I have read his book (kindle unlimited available on amazon, btw) and I have to say I like his approach. It's a very, very different one when looking at what most nutritionists seem to recommend (low carb, lots of animal lean protein). Dr. Weiner's approach reminds me a lot of Eat To Live. I like that a lot though I'm definitely no hero when it comes to following the nutritarian diet. -
Still the same problem. Oh well...

It also happens when I click on "next".

I can click the page number, but after being directed to the selected page (doesn't matter if I go backward or forward) the page looks like the screenshot above. Then I have to refresh the page and then I can see the posts.

It started after the website changed software. Before the change I never experienced it. When I refresh the new page with command + r I can see the posts.
