can't keep anything down miserable

Scheduled to go on to get sleeved at 5 a.m. in the morning. Surgery starts a 7 a.m. I am starting to get really nervous.

I'm pretty much in and out of the office. I am planning on taking a week and a half. I go in on a Wednesday and I think a week and a half should be ok.

Sure did! The very day that I made the decision to have WLS, my S.O. and I went to The Fishery in Keyport and had platters of the freshest seafood (raw, broiled, and fried), complete with sides. It is a fond memory for me. Every time I remember my food funeral, I smile. I don't have an inkling of regret about having it. Not one.

I live in Pinellas County. I am pre surgery but at the finish line. Just waiting for my date. Would love a support buddy to help get through this.

I'm having the sleeve March 9th. Nervous, excited, anxious! My husband had the sleeve on Jan 27th and he is down almost 60 pounds from the post op diet until now. He has done wonderful. I'm thankful we will have each other to lean on! We are in the Athens, Texas area.

I'm even amazed at the difference. I didn't think I was that heavy.

I know the feeling. They hit on me then (and also yelled I was fat when rejected). The same men don't really hit on me now. Typically, the type that hit on me now don't assume it will be easy. Though, I had a couple of angry geeks trying to take me home at a swing dancing club last week only to find out my friend overheard them mentioning my girdle (I guess they could see through this silver dress). They were as bad as former scum and it hurt in the same way. I had to come home and meditate. The dogs still find me just different breeds. Also, now rich jerks that talk about their money men are included. Attached is silver dress night.

I agree that there is negative behavior against significantly overweight folk. However, I don't think you can dismiss the internal factor so easily. I'm betting you perceive yourself differently, I know I do. When I was this weight many, many years ago I didn't have the level of confidence that I do today. You feel differently about yourself when your weight is going down or maintaining a healthy weight than you do when you are seriously overweight or gaining. So, maybe the only outward thing that has changed is your appearance, but perhaps you are exuding more confidence as well. My $.02.

Good morning everyone! I hope and pray your journey is going well.
My surgery was Oct 26 and I have lost almost 100 # since my heaviest weight and almost 75 since surgery. I am looking and FEELING great!
Now, enough of the bragging...
To my question:
I have noticed at work, in the past, when I made proposals, no matter the situation, certain people would immediately put them down, degrade my knowledge, and more often than not, they would resurface 3-4 months later as their own proposals and the celebrations would begin.
Since my weight loss, my proposals are getting serious consideration and implementation. Even ones 6 months ago that were summarily dismissed and I am reintroducing are being seriously considered.
The only change I can think of is my weight loss.
Am I crazy? Has this happened to anyone else? I have been told my personality hasn't changed and my professionalism is the same.
I know, ride the wave and enjoy but this is nagging at me. I wonder what if I would have lost the weight years ago. Where would I be?
Anyone have work horror/success similar stories?

March 6th!! 9 AM and sooooo NERVOUS!!!

As I was rushing to get to work today, it was time to put on my shoes. I didn't see my 24" shoe spoon around to help me put them on. I reached down and slipped my two fingers into the heel and easily slid my foot into the shoe. I could have been doing this for weeks and just didn't realize it! I was sooooo accustomed to using the shoe spoon, I didn't realize my surgery had eliminated another issue. I am more and more grateful EVERY DAY for this second chance at a wonderful life.

I told people at work that i was having stomach issues and had to get a scope. During that scope they found I had a pretty decent hiatal hernia and lesions and a hole in my stomach and I need time off to get that all fixed. They also know my thyroid is all outta wack so I've said I've lost some weight getting that started to regulate and I've lost 10 pounds. Hopefully with getting everything fixed I'll lose s bunch of weight and feel better! This way when I come back a little lighter there won't be so much talk

I second all the supportive advice of the others here, but would just add: Since he won't go to counseling, go alone. You'll need a lot of emotional support as you go through the weight loss process and hormonal changes. And it sounds like he was mentally checked out anyway -- that is not normal behavior for someone who loves you. Maybe couples counseling would have just dragged out the pain.
