"But you're so young" and other things that piss me off.
MayMarie replied to LeslesLosingIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Before I even told anyone I was considering surgery my sister lost a lot of weight. My grandma shared a before and after picture of her with the caption, "This is our oldest granddaughter. She lost 100 lbs. No surgery, just eating healthy. So proud of her." I know that sting. ???? -

I think that sounds like a great idea, especially for someone who needs to look really professional at work. -
How long did the doctor tell you too stay out of work?
MayMarie replied to dmelectrician's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am currently at the beginning of 6 weeks off. I am a Registered Nurse and my job is very physically demanding (12 hours on your feet, lifting, bending, risk of violent patients, etc). It just depends on how physical your job is and how well you heal and adjust. -
I would do whatever you feel the most comfortable with but also ask your surgeon for their opinion. My dad had the sleeve and lost over 100lbs in less than a year. My stepmom had an RNY done and 10 years later still had successfully kept the weight off. There is success and roadblocks with every surgery. The sleeve just felt like the right decision for me.

Also, my surgeon has all patients take a PPI (reflux medication) for at least a year post op. I've had no issues with it since surgery but I didn't have many issues with it before. The weight loss has been pretty rapid for me. I've lost 13-14lbs in 8 days.

I'm 23 almost 24. I am 8 days post op from the sleeve. I chose that surgery because it seemed to be the one my surgeon leaned to and because it has fewer malabsorption issues than bypass. That was important to me as I do not have children yet and would like to start a family someday. Malabsorption and pregnancy do not sound like a good mix.

Oh and in recovery I asked how my liver was (in reference to the preop diet). I don't even know if anyone was around when I asked. Lol

The last thing I remember is laying on the surgery table and saying, "Well I always wanted to see the inside of an OR!" as they placed the mask on my face. The next thing I remember clearly is being wheeled to my room from recovery.
